I thought we could start a thread where we post a specific FM lyrics (not an entire song) and why it's hitting home right now.

Did she make you cry
Make you break down
Shatter your illusions of love
Is it over now- do you know how
Pick up the pieces and go home.

This reminds me of my mother. We're not really speaking, and those lyrics basically explain how I feel. One day she lost it and I literally had to "pick up the pieces". It broke me.

Anyways...hopefully that's not too much of a downer. Post away. I think the true test of a great song is if you can listen to it and think "Hey I totally get that!"

You want a downer? Heh. I'm kidding, I'm sorry to hear you're not speaking with her right now. :(

There are quite a few, but here's the one I immediately thought of:

I need someone to stand by me
Stand by me, just one time
I hope somebody stands by me
Stands by me, just one time - Somebody Stand By Me

"We see no change in sight / watching her decline"

"Maybe it's just something else / That you can't tell me / Maybe it's in the way that you / Look away from me..."

"It's not like any words / Need to be said / Well you always know when something's wrong, / My friend..."

A song I've rewritten in my own head to apply to myself and my situation.

But don't ask me what I think of you
I might not give the answer that you want me to

You invent the the future that you want to face

But, the ONE lyric that MOST applies to me isn't a Fleetwood Mac lyric. It's a lyric by Stephen Stills:

Fear is the lock and laughter the key to your heart

And the woman may be so awestruck
And the woman may truely care
But the woman is so tired
So the woman disappears

Bella Donna speaks to me :wavey:

And the one I've found to be most fitting in a situation lasting over a few years. It's probably Lindsey's simplest lyric, but I love it

Those lines spoke to me for years - some really bad years of my life when I was trying really hard to disappear.

now, i'm not sure. there are definitely many that do - but i'd have to tihnk about it. truth be told, i have been taking a break from FM and SN for a little while. i think i was suffering from overkill by the end of the fall. i needed to discover what other music was out there that i was missing. but they're like old friends - i know they'll always be there for me when i need them.

No one looked, I walked by...just an invitation would've been just fine.

You feel good. I said it's funny that you understood. I knew you would. When you were good, you were very-very good.

Kind of woman that'll haunt you...it was close, to being, in heaven. :p
Once in a million years a lady like her, rises.

Wow...there are SO MANY.

The first thing that comes to mind:

I spent much time crying in the car to I Miss You when TISL first came out. The line "The 'invisible girl' / That was my name / She walks in and walks out / And I'm sorry now" (and Stevie's delivery of the line) just killed me at the time. I was going through major changes within myself...learning to stand up for myself, and this line just epitomizes for me how I had felt my whole life until that point. At the time, it had mostly to do with my parents ridiculing a relationship I was in (and still am, 8 wonderful years later!). I am grateful that every time I listen to that song for the rest of my life, I will be reminded of how meaningful and absolutely essential that period in my life was.

Great thread!

The first time I ever heard Beauty and the Beast was last April, the day the Pope died. I cried and cried and cried.

Something similar with Desert Angel, with the whole Iraq war and all that. Its relevance just seemed to jump forward a decade or so.

I'll also add:

"The dreams of a lifetime
Told me wrong
Everything is all right
And now it's gone
Don't blame me
Please be strong I know I'm not wrong"

and

"lovin' you isn't the right thing to do"

Ask myself about life
Been searchin' for the key
Can't find an answer to comfort me
Ask myself about love
Can't even find the door
To take me to a place I've never seen before

Thanks, Peter :o

Many Many.... many:
Never have I been a blue calm sea, I have always been a storm

They wanted images when images weren't spoken

So we make our choices
When there is no choice
And we listen to their voices
Ignoring our own voice

And I am a fool once more

Maybe I am calmer now
Maybe things are fine
Maybe I made the whole thing up
Maybe it isn't a lie

And I understand it's not how we planned
But we'll make it

They go into the seas that have no shores
Haunted by that same closed door

You'd rather be wrapped up
In the arms of a storm
Crazy men and crazy women
In the storm

When I began, I was standing at the crossroads, I was hopeful
That was then
This is now

"Sometimes lonely is not only a word...but faces I have known
And if you see me...could you free me with a smile....so I can let go?"

"How the faces of love have changed...turning the pages...
And I have changed...oh, but you...you remain ageless..."

"And the days go by...like a strand in the wind...in the web that is my own...I begin again...said to my friend...baby, nothing else matters..."

"I will...you know...so I take it to the limit...I will, you know...as I always have...I understand your position, I withdraw my decision...well I've got no more information for you.."

"All I ever wanted...was to know that you were dreaming...there is a hearbeat...and it never really died..."

"Wild in the darkest places of your mind...thats where I needed you...thats where I needed you the most...where are the reasons?..."

I could go on and on...I love this woman...

Lyrics that apply to me...or at least that I can relate to:

Have you been writing
Well, you say it's harder now
I got the message
Stay among the living...
But I can, and I will go on

For the daylight is poison to her (my) eyes

I stay home at night, all the time
I'd go anywhere...ask me and I'm there

All I can think of right now, but there are many more...

Me, too - I've been really into it lately. I can't stop singing

"Just remember that love is go-o-o-old. ooo, oooooooo etc." and
"Even sweeter than wine. Dooooon't taaaake the love light away" (the harmony right there is stunning)

Her Tusk songs are so spare and concise but lushly beautiful.

Only in relation to NTF or in general? No, usually he's spot on but that time that one song ... never ever again.

I remember when Lindsey Lohan's Edge of Seventeen came out some clever individual said that they'd rather listen to an eternity of NTF live than hear that again.

I think that says it all really.

 I like NTF. I sing (if you could call it that) it a lot... Mostly when I'm in a weird mood, which is almost all the time. If you want wrong-kind spine tingling, just look at his dancing on the Mirage DVD. Just goes to show that guitarists hear a different beat.

And, I must admit, I do enjoy the moaning. *cough*

Oh yeah. The dancing. Um .....

It's sort of the dancing that contributes in a very major way to the horrendous-ness of NTF. The moaning ..... He's done better. [I should know... heehee]

Speaking of the dancing, anyone ever notice the little twirl he does? Stevie influences this band so much. Mick wears a top hat, Chris has flowers on her mic and Lindsey twirls. All that's left is John. *odd images of John dripping in black chiffon and lace*

Ok, I got huffy on another thread and thought I'd quit, but I'm compelled to write here.

There are many lyrics that mean so much to me, but the one that has stuck with me year in and year and hits home all the time is...

"Time cast a spell on you, but you won't forget me. I know I could have loved you but you would not let me....You'll never get away from the sound of a woman that loved you."

Second would be...

"So I closed my eyes softly, 'til I become that part of the wind, that we all long for sometime.....yeah."

Yeah...:)

Thanks, Guys. I just blew off some steam. I've been a member of another board (baseball oriented), for years, and I've had to deal with some painful snarkiness - so I guess I was fearful that I was running into that here. But you've all been swell.:o

Cliffdweller - I have adored the song "Angel" since the day it came out. The song is so understatedly sexy. I call it my Stevie strut song...it's just a tambourine shaking, boot stomping beauty with Lindsey's gorgeous background vocals and guitar licks floating on John McVie's bassline, which is just perfection...it gets under your skin. And Christine's keyboard just adds so much juiciness to that song. That's the song that personifies Stevie to me...like you want to be in her platforms and chiffon and singing that song - meanwhile everyone is loving you and just wants to be you.

Just saw the Tusk Documentary on youtube.com (thanks for the suggestion, guys!). I saw the part where it showed them recording the song - and those practice duets with Lindsey were just heartwrenching. They just soooooo need to be singing together. They were so beautiful together - at least muscially. Dang, I hate to be such a romantic (or a shipper? Not sure what that is -but I think there's a little of the in me), but despite their troubles, there was beaucoup chemistry between the two when he was at the piano. Damn all if he didn't love her then...and there is no way she wasn't taken by him at that moment. Also caught the part where they sang it on stage....love how Lindsey's hands just touched her with the rythmn.

Yup! Yet, they seemed to find moments where they were on comfortable ground with each other.

I've got to find the dry humping one!!! And if the November 1979 Madison Square Garden performance exists on video - I'd love to find that too! I was there. Sadly, I was also disappointed in the performance. Stevie kept running off to change her outfit, and it was really annoying. The band seemed so deattached - not cohesive - like 5 individual solo artists - not a band. I think this was the performance where someone in the front row yelled to LB that he sold out. I didn't hear it...I was in the back of the arena! I remember Stevie wore high heel shoes - not boots - at one point. And then she kicked them off into the crowd.

Sure do! It took me a while to get it, and I haven't listened to the second disc of outtakes as much. Although I love how they fiddle around with "Kiss and Run". Oh, I could just strangle them for not doing this song officially!! It sounded so good!

I was thrilled to see they released the original unedited version of "Sara". For those of us who have the original album on record - it's a travesty to see the "Hold on...the night is coming..." part totally scissored out of the CD version. Why do they always pick on Stevie's songs? Thank God the remaster has the original longer version - because it's either that or nothing for me.

Save Me a Place is such an underrated song. Even by me. I used to cherry pick my favorite songs off Tusk, and ignore that one. But I've just grown to appreciate those harmonies and the rhythmic guitar strumming. It's gorgeous.

At one of the tusk shows, didn't Lindsey start dry-humping her during the song?

And she looked at him with this laughing smirk, like "What are we doing?"

Umm, I think you're right. I do remember some really crazy hanky-panky going on on stage between those two! Can you just imagine that NOW??

The moaning ..... He's done better. [I should know... heehee]

Speaking of the dancing, anyone ever notice the little twirl he does? Stevie influences this band so much. Mick wears a top hat, Chris has flowers on her mic and Lindsey twirls. All that's left is John. *odd images of John dripping in black chiffon and lace*

John would probably look hot all dolled up like that. *ponders photoshop....*
:woohoo:

Here are mine BATB:

My darling lives in a world that is not mine
An old child misunderstood...out of time
Timeless is the creature who is wise
And timeless is the prisoner in disguise
