It seems like it always boils down to what Stevie wants, just like the old days :).

I was under the impression that Lindsey was touring over the summer, and that FM would tour following his tour. Kind of like Stevie, but reversed.

I wouldn't expect it. Steve's pushing 60. A 150 date FM tour then a large solo tour, then an australia, then another solo tour, then a Fleetwood Mac Farewell tour would probably kill her. Thats waaay too much touring with only 3 months of a break.

it is sad when the Rolling Stones money making tours keep coming every other year or so and Fleetwood Mac has only tour twice since 1997....
Oh, and with the current economy I wonder if the cheap seats for an upcoming 2007 tour will cost a minimum of either $100 or an arm and/or a leg?

SHe'd do well to remember that some of the shows on the Gold Dust tour were much less than sold out.
Then that should prompt her to go on a tour of small theaters or symphony halls to play with various orchestras following the Australia experience.
I doubt she will play any more shows this year, though. I'd settle for a one-off Vegas gig.
As for FM, unless Christine has a change of heart, I'm not that anxious to see them.

John did tell me they had a band meeting, this was back in November, I guess. I don't think plans were ever on for a summer tour though-- he said Stevie had the Australia thing coming up, and Lindsey had something in the summer -"or so I've been told", were his words....(so maybe he views LB's tour plans w/ the same skepticism as the rest of us....? I don't know. ) But anyway he didn't imply there was really a summer tour possibility.

Well, I wouldn't rule anything out, at least as far as Mick and John are concerned. Maybe even Lindsey. But, Stevie was never all that thrilled with SYW, at least in any of the interviews I've read. All that interview did was confirm what most of us already suspected, that the kissing and hand holding was mostly for show. Some of us have been saying that for years, now.

You mean there are people who think otherwise?
It's totally obvious; the "tender" moments were just as staged as Lindsey's scripted prattle in between songs and Stevie's SYW lasso.

You mean there are people who think otherwise?
It's totally obvious; the "tender" moments were just as staged as Lindsey's scripted prattle in between songs and Stevie's SYW lasso. There are a couple of different ways to look at this. I always assumed the movements--the onstage dancing & hugging & all--were all done every night in virtually the same way because they were part of the show, like actors blocking stage movements. So in that sense, it was scripted (the Tusk dance & all that stuff).
But were there genuine emotions of friendship & accomplishment & camaraderie that drove those scripted dances & hugs? I think there were. The emotion was there even though it was expressed in specifically theatrical, planned ways night after night on tour.
The same is true (for the most part) with playing a set. You play it & sing it in similar ways every night onstage because otherwise it would be too harrowing & too enervating to improvise literally everything. That would be a superhuman feat. But you should still have a general enjoyment of performing & of the songs you & your bandmates wrote & got successful with so that the nightly performance is a ritual reenactment of the excitement you felt when you made the album or released it or made the cover of Rolling Stone. If you can't even work up the pleasure on *that* level, your performance can look really boring & robotic because that is precisely how you are feeling about all of it.

Gimme a break  ...how f***ing tough is touring "the Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac" way? Is she freezing her ever expanding butt in an Econoline van from gig to gig? No. Flying first class & staying in 5 star hotels? Yes.
Is she playing 5+ hrs a night, 6 nights a week? No. Is she playing a 90 minute-2 hr set MAYBE three nights a week? Yeah.
The touring schedule and travel accomodations just COULDn't be that strenuous. If they are, then somebody's f***ing spoiled and is out of touch with what a "real musician's" life is.

Well, boring and robotic is how I would describe 3 of the 5 SYW concerts I attended.
I personally never witnessed anything that seemed like a genuinely spontaneous moment of intimacy between Stevie and Lindsey during that tour. In fact, in the Bakersfield gig, she seemed downright annoyed with him.
That was my experience; I'm sure other shows were different.

That was my experience; I'm sure other shows were different.I attended I think the first night of the two 2003 shows at the Arrowhead Pond. Front row. Lindsey struck me as desperately manic, trying to infuse some punk ardor & energy into what was essentially a slick & fogeyfied production that had more in common with Yanni than with Fleetwood Mac circa 1978, so his antics just seemed out of place & sadly comical.
Stevie was distant, from both her band & the audience. If she was standing stage right, a Molotov cocktail could have exploded stage left & I don't think she'd have been aware of it. Her eyes were glassy & vacant (my drug-savvy companion swore Stevie was on painkillers or pot), & she sang low & toneless & seemed not to bother keeping up with the tempo most of the time.
It was a really unsatisfying concert to me. I consider it my final Fleetwood Mac concert. That's okay. For me, it was mostly a great run: 1976 - 2003. But I'm done. I wiped off my hands, dusted my seat & trotted elsewhere.

Yeah, it's an expensive bass solo, but what can I say? John's one of the best. He's one of the few that I don't think can be improved upon too much. He does exactly what is needed for the song, not too much, not too little, JUST RIGHT! And, with as much live music I hear throughout the year, the value of that, for me, is surprisingly high.
And, I'd really love to see the band fronted by Lindsey, Billy, Bekka, and Rick (or Bob). Lots o' GEETAR!

The first London show in 2003 was great... First time they had been back in many years... Stevie was happy and enjoyed it. Lindsey played the best version of I'm So Afraid of the entire tour and then proceeded to totally destroy his Turner (never seen that before or since). The second night in London was more "standard procedure". As was the first night in Manchester but the second was eventful as Lindsey stopped a fight during Tusk and let the obcenities fly.
But I'm not gonna be paying $180 per seat again thanks.. Micks pension fund must be nicely topped up now and he doesn't need any more cash from me.
