Hey guys, my roomate was asking me (naturally) if I had any of Mick's solo records on CD. I dug thru all my bootlegs and such and I don't have any of his stuff from The Visitor ...well, I dont have anything he did outside of the Mac. Mr. Bill (my roomate) seems think that he did a version of "Walk A Thin Line" that was near superior to Lindsey's Tusk version. Any ideas on where to find this stuff...?

The Visitor was released on CD, but is now OOP. I have it and actually enjoy it very much.
As for the other solo album "I'm Not Me," it is only available on vinyl. I actually have it and enjoy it very much.
He did indeed cover 'Walk A Thin Line" on the Visitors album. It is debatable that it's better than the original. I don't think so, but the music arrangement is quite different. I should rip it and post it for you.

Are you sure it's not a bootleg? I can't IMAGINE a record company going to the trouble to release The Visitor.....to what, sell MAYBE a 1000 copies?
I have it on vinyl. I wish I had it on CD.

It is absolutely legit. It was a import from the UK. I will dig it up and post the record label.
(I edited my original post) since I confused albums on the cover of Walk A Thin Line).

I thought INM had been on CD, and this tends to support that:

That would be cool. Either an import of boot (that pic looks suspicious).

Yes, George Harrison plays on "Walk A Thin Line". I love that song on the Visitor...much better than the Tusk version, in my opinion.
This is news to me about the Visitor ever being released on CD. As far as I know, I'm Not Me has never been released on CD. I have both of these albums on CD, but they're bootlegs.

I have the CD. It's legit. It was released in Europe in the early '90s, when a lot of Peter Green's solo stuff was being reissued on CD. I always assumed that this got reissued mainly because of Green's presence. In any event, I have always loved this album. I prefer "The Visitor" version of WATL, but I wouldn't say it was necessarily superior.

Yes, The Visitor was indeed officially released on CD (mine is a German pressing).
It IS a shame that I'm Not Me wasn't...it's definitely a Top 5 in outside projects of any Fleetwood Mac member.

1) Pink & Black--Rick Vito
2) Out Of The Cradle--Lindsey Buckingham
3) French Kiss--Bob Welch
4) Trouble In Shangri-La--Stevie Nicks
5) I'm Not Me--Mick Fleetwood's Zoo
6) Time Traders--Peter Green Splinter Group
7) King Of Hearts--Rick Vito
8) ...Looks At Be-Bop--Bob Welch
9) Flee--Jeremy Spencer Band

I've got The Visitor on vinyl and CD. Very official, a French release. In Europe africa-related popmusic was quite popular during the 80's.
Anyone who ranks Micks WATL above Lindsey's I cannot relate to. Actually I find that rather strange.

This is my favorite Welch solo album. Just great stuff...I listen to this all the time.

I can't believe there's no Billy Burnette on this list. And of all Stevie albums to choose from, TISL???? :distress:
To each their own I guess.

I think TISL is her best album...by far. I initially was reluctant to rate it over Bella Donna, but I went back to listen to BD the other day. TISL, to me, is far superior. And, all of Stevie's other albums just don't cut the mustard with me (if side one of Rock A Little was as good as side 2, THAT would challenge TISL, but alas, we're stuck with the title cut, "Sister Honey", "I Sing For The Things" & "Imperial Hotel"..."I Can't Wait" & "Some Become Strangers" are the only decent songs on side 1...side 2 is near perfection). The Other Side Of The Mirror?? Garbage...a waste of studio time, a waste of vinyl, a waste of iron oxide producing the cassettes, a waste of petroleum products producing the CDs. She could've just released "Rooms On Fire" as a single and left it at that. Wild Heart? mediocre. Street Angel? I like it while I'm listening to it, but other than "Maybe Love...", the album is forgettable.
Billy's Are You With Me Baby? is #12 (if I'd listed that far)...I'm hoping that his upcoming album will crack the Top 10...after all, it has a good head start just by including "Oh Well".

I have the new Billy cd preordered and I can't wait to hear it.
I can think of several Billy discs that I would put way above even Stevie's Bella Donna...
(Chronological Order)
Between Friends
Try Me
Coming Home
Bekka and Billy
Are You With Me Baby
But I'm not biased or anything. :)

Bella Donna, of course.
After that it went downhill fast. The Wild Heart was good but did not meet the greatness of its predecessor. Rock a Little was awful. The Other Side of the Mirror was bad but was a slight improvement over Rock a Little. Timespace doesn't even count, nor really does Enchanted. Street Angel was okay but mostly forgettable. Trouble in Shangri La was the nail in the coffin of my Stevie fandom.

I just asked what your favorite was, not to bash the work of my idol. :wavey: (just picking)
I find it interesting though, as I've read some of your posts regarding Stevie in the past, and that you say here your "Stevie fandom," because I've always gotten the impression you didn't like Stevie at all, but thanks for explaining.

For those interested, George played 12-string and slide guitar on the track. These former brothers-in-law make a great pair on this track! Of course, how could George Harrison not be a great acompaniment to anyone. :)

It used to strike me as very odd, but he used to show up & sit in with Deep Purple during their shows on a number of occasions in the mid/late '70's. (He & Jon Lord were good friends, I later found out)

Well, personally, I think a great guitarist, such as George, could step up to the challenge of playing with anyone. I know guitarists have different styles of playing, but you could rise to the occasion with, say, Metallica for one song, if you're as talented as George Harrison. One song is all we are talking about here. Of course, this is just my 2 cents worth.
