for all of you collagen lovers I figured we could talk about the latest boosting and plumping products. Since I'm not quite ready for plastic surgery (with the exception of a possible nose job), I will say that City Lips is, by far, the best thing I've had. I've tried all the high-end products and this works the best. Lip Fusion is very tacky and doesn't really work either. Lip Venom stings and is just nasty. City Lips is a tad expensive per tube ($29) but well worth it. Within minutes of putting it on I notice a difference in the moisture and the overall appearance. It is not tacky and feels great, no nasty smell either. Over time, the results just get better. One question though for those who have used this for a while...why did they switch from a pad applicator to a brush? The brush is much messier and less useful during application.

ooo, I'm on it. I have lip venom, but it's too gluey/sticky/motoroilonmylips.

side note: My lips have plumped since I stopped smoking.

I've turned into a lip balm ho - and my lips aren't even chapped very much. I have to put the sunscreen one on daily or I freak out. Plus the lanolin one for smooth lipstickage.

Anyway, thanks for the tip, I wrote it down. Do you know that cinnamon oil works, too? Bit stingy.

If you use cinnamon oil, heavily dilute it. It will burn in the baaaaaad, baaaaaad way.

I love lip venom. The consistency works for me. I'm not buying it anymore, though. I've decided the only thing that I will spend $18 per on at Sephora is L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil.

Oh, word. Have you seen the new honey one? It's so awesome.

When people don't believe me that my addiction to Burt's Bees is hardcore, I prove it to them by showing them that I actually care two tubes just on my person at all times- one in each pocket so I don't have to take the time to find it. I keep one in the car, one in my desk at work, one perpetually sitting on the keyboard at my desk, one in the bathroom, one on my nightstand, one on the coffee table.

Have I just shown my psychosis??

And Sara- I know, $18 for shower oil is a sickness. Overly expensive bath products are something I won't give up. It's sick.

you like that? meh. I'm on the lanolin kick, it has proven antiaging properties. :p
Actually, I got a burt's bees tinted lip balm, and it was too light and too orange, of course - that's the only reason I said "meh". ;)

Bwah! I have three different tubes of balm in separate places, too. Not all one, one is sunscreen (kiss my face cranberry orange spf 15), one is the DHC lanolin stick, and one is Dr. Pepper Lip Smacker (the perfect amount of tint w/shine). Backpack, bathroom, small purse.

The honey is really good! Different, but really good!

One of the reasons I took my part-time job at Borders was that I knew I'd have that 33% discount on the Burt's. Can I gush about my boyfriend more? Apparently when I want lip balm and can't easily access it I get a really specific pout. He started carrying a tube in his jacket and whips it out for me when he sees that face.

K - I have to put in a vote for Lip Fusion XL. Don't know if it's the same Lip Fusion mentioned above? But my friend has it - and I literally did a double take when I saw her with it on. She look faaaaaaaaaaaaabulous. It was incredible. Now, this stuff costs $60 a tube  - probably only $50 for you lucky kids in the States. If I was going to spend money like that on cosmetics, that's the first tihng I'd buy. Fabuliciousness in a tube.

I use a nice lip balm by Caudalie. What is City Lips?
it is a product that fools your lips into thinking they've been damaged and cause them to produce more collagen, thereby increasing the fullness of your lips

it also has very good plant extracts to help moisturize and protect

you can read about it at citylips.com or citycosmetics.com

that's the one I got, too. No, I haven't tried the regular. When i buy balm, I look at the ingredients - it must not have had the ones I wanted (or I didn't have money or whatever) edit - I just read my useless but full tube of the BB merlot, and it does have good ingredients.
I dunno - I need the Dr. Pepper lip smacker for tint, and I need the spf one for sun protection (does burts have sunscreen ones?) and the one I got from DHL is a very high percentage of lanolin. Also, they must be in a windy tube - no dig your fingers in pots. Is burt's bees shiny?
you don't have to answer all these, I was just explaining my criteria. It looks like I could try Burt's ingredient wise - if it's shiny and comes in a windy tube/and/or has sunscreen.

Anyone else have a problem with blistex?

Everytime I use it, it does weird things to my mouth. Ew.

I have lip venom and I will say...not much improvement and I feel the need for chapstick right away.

Does no one wear lip stick anymore? It's out of style isn't it? It's all about lip gloss now.

I just go for the chapstick and then almay sparkly lip gloss that does the trick. I don't have full lips but I'd look weird if I did. My mouth is TINY.

*** I do the same thing with chapstick. One by my bed, one in my purse and one at work which I carry in my pocket while working and then just put on my desk when I leave. I hate things in my pocket ( constant fear it will fall out) so I never forget to take it out..

I do, but I put gloss on under it. And I don't put my lipstick on thick, it's more of a medium tint...imitating natural color but a little better. My mouth is small for my face, though - if it wasn't, I probably wouldn't wear lipstick nearly as often - just gloss.

I don't watch QVC. :p But I have yet to meet a L'Occitane product I didn't like. For years, I've been addicted to the hand cream and body lotion (which is so pricey, I only use it occasionally, like right after I've shaved my legs). I haven't tried their hair products yet...the person I bought the eye balm from sent me a sample of the scrub/mask. It's very nice!

I got some La Mer samples on ebay cuz I wanted to try it - too greasy for me, so I used the face cream as a nighttime eye cream instead.

lol.

I went into our local "high-end" store (you know there's only 2 in MS) and noticed they just started carrying La Mer. So I thought, hmmm, I'll get a gift set and try it and it shouldn't be too expensive...$298! After she told me, I said, hmmm, ok, thank you and walked away.

It's outrageously expensive, for what it is, imo. Do what I did, and buy some samples on ebay. Kiehl's products are nice too, and relatively inexpensive. Again, ebay, but if you purchase Kiehl's in a store, they are very generous w/ the samples. The abysinne eye cream is flawless! The avocado eye cream is nice too. So are their lip balms. I'm going to invite Bruce to this thread. He single-handedly keeps Kiehl's in business!

The cosmetic industry is nothing but a big racket anyway, like pharmaceuticals.

Have you tried the almond shower oil? I normally don't like bath oils and stuff (too greasy!), but this is different. It lathers up a little bit, and I use it on my legs after shaving, then rinse it off. It smells amazing, and makes my legs feel smoother, even pre-lotion, than anything I've ever tried. It is such good stuff.

I finally got some La Mer and I'm loving it. It is a little greasy, but seems to absorb fairly quickly. I'm dying knowing I'm using the same thing Stevie uses (nerd)! I just saw where the La Mer body butter came out - $195 for 10 oz. versus the $195 for 1 oz. of the cream I have. Hope the **** is worth it.
