I think Rick Turner needs to know about this. Definitely NOT his company.

This is some small maker in the UK. I think there'd be some sort of copyright/trademark issue that would need to be dealt with.

HA! Nice one. Although, I think Rick Turner produces his guitars under the guise of "Renaissance Guitars."

Officially "Turner Renaissance". But, still there has to be some sort of conflict of consumer perception or something along those lines.

Similar to the reason way back in 1950 that Fender changed the name of the Broadcaster to Telecaster. Gretch was making DRUMS called "Broadcasters" and they filed suit to make Fender change the name. (Irony strikes, since now Fender OWNS Gretch)

It was this sentance that got me.

"Turner Guitars are a relatively new Company, set up to offer high quality 'factory machined' alternatives to the hand made guitars that, although truly beautifully made, cost many times more"

Here's Rick's reply to the email I sent him:

Dear Steve,

I know about Turner Guitars, UK, and there's not a damned thing I can
afford to do about it other than block him in the US and Japan where we
have trade mark law on our sides. It's clearly a rip, and our stuff
has been sold and used in the UK for a long, long time, but I have to
pick my battles and this isn't one of them.

Thanks,

Rick

Hmmmm, I wish I made more money on my gigs...I'd start a "Rick Turner trademark protection legal fund".

Yeah, I have no doubt some of those guitars are pretty nice guitars, especially for a beginner. In fact some of those parts are made from mahogany so they’d be a nice guitar in a collection for an intermediate like myself (although I personally prefer acoustics a few inches smaller that dreadnought’s)

There are plenty of companies about now that set out to make an affordable, good quality guitar, these are Cleary one of them. I can appreciate companies like this but it is truly unfair to use the name of another company with a reputation that is simply not matched by your new company sharing the same name.

I have one of these Turner guitars (the TG000, I believe) which I bought in Bristol, England. The name made me wonder whether there was any link with Rick Turner, but even when I found out that there wasn't, I was impressed enough with the guitar to buy it and have it electrified to play in pubs. Well worth its price, as friends often comment on it's nice tone.
