It was so much fun. For proof positive, watch this awesome video:

http://xehirut.gamerforums.org/MiscFiles/MarioOnIce.mov

1. The Mario Brothers. On ice.
2. Freakouts over Nintendo.
3. Cheese cheese cheese.
4. Alyssa Milano, cute as a button during her Danza Days.
5. Jason Bateman, such an adorkable cutie pie.

I need this video. I'll trade someone a Teddy Ruxpin tape and a Shrinky Dinks kit for it.

The 80's suck! EWWW...

You wouldn't be saying that if you had watched the video. Tsk tsk.

"Look...Nintendo! You've never played video games until you've played with the Video Game Prince."

And....Mr. Belvedere!

I could only bear to watch about half of it. Bizarre, because I have plenty of love for nintendo and Mr Belvedere yet this was just sooooo bad. And viewing the intro has shaken the foundation of my current crush on Jason Batemen.

Don't shame me any more than I already am for loving it so much that I played it three times!!

Did you used to have fun just saying Mr. Belvedere's name when you were a kid? I used to giggle like a little idiot just saying Lynn Aloysius Belvedere aloud.

And viewing the intro has shaken the foundation of my current crush on Jason Batemen.

It completely reinforced mine.

Ohhhhh nooooooo, how can you say that?? "Look Alyssa, its the Koopa Koopas" and "What, you mean to tell me you've NEVER played Nintendo before?" Gad.

Just when I had nearly erased all memories of Silver Spoons and the Hogan Family, YOU PULL ME BACK IN.

 I looooooooooooved it. His voice was so high-pitched and adorkable.

Just when I had nearly erased all memories of Silver Spoons and the Hogan Family, YOU PULL ME BACK IN.

Don't you mean Valerievaleriesfamilythehoganfamily? That show had so many incarnations that a young boy could NOT keep up. Sandy Duncan bugged, though, and the finale was so depressing. AIDS? Nice way to end it, bitches.

And you totally reminded me of the Boy Scouts episode of Silver Spoons. Teenage Bateman, Ricky Schroder, and Alfonso Ribiero, all in crotch-cutting Scouts shorts. It's funny to this day. I want the DVDs.

Whoa, what now? Did SandyDuncanValerieHogan's character get the AIDS?
Please refresh the memory!

Oh and Alphonso Ribiera - toooooootally. I love how he always plays the douche. Gotta wonder what that does to the ego.

Naw, Sandy Dunce didn't get AIDS (that would have been unintentionally hilarious). Bateman's best friend (I think his name was Rich) got AIDS. It was such a downer and such a ****ty way to send off the show. I am an unabashed Valerievaleriesfamilythehoganfamily fan, but hoo boy, that finale stunk. In retrospect, I think the writers were a little masochistic. The episode after Valerie died, they had the house catch on fire.

Haha! All I can think of is his stupid Carlton dance. That man was whack.

Bless you for that!

And what, the family dog got rabies and needed to be shot? Papa Hogan gets an inoperable brain tumour? Sitcoms can't end on an AIDS note, people!!!! Jesus!

 Me too! Believe it or not, I watched a bit of it last night when I was rummaging around my old tape collection, trying to see if there was anything I could tape over. I'm totally going to watch this now. That roller coaster thing was crazy. Great, there go my plans to get an early (read: before 5 AM) night!

Get out!!! How about that intro by George and Barbara Bush? It never fails to make me laugh until my sides hurt. Or when Bugs Bunny says "joint"? And Simon says something like "I think it's marijuana"? Oh, it's a favorite possession of mine. I remember it used to be in the video stores as a free rental.

You know what I found when I moved a little while back? Old tapes of...Small Wonder! I watched an episode and was reminded of the time when saying "Gag me with a spoon" was considered uber cool. That show must have been shot on a budget of fifteen bucks, I swear.

I hated the trend of sitcom finales being so serious. ****, even "Full House" had the Olsen brat fall off a horse and break her back or some such crud.

In any event, I want to relive the Hogans on DVD or, at the very least, another syndication run.

Seriously! I've got a bunch of weird, retro stuff lying around that I refuse to get rid of/tape over. I'm never going to tape over this; it's just too hilarious. Funnier still, it's tacked on to the end of one of our home movies... Hint? lol. My brother would tape everything back then.

i vaguely remember Small Wonder, though. Practically every show had someone using the phrase "gag me with a spoon".

Do you remember the Alice In Wonderland miniseries from, I don't know, '85? The one with Carol Channing? The Jabberwocky totally scared the piss out of me. Anyway, I found that one, too.

It was the show about the robot girl, Vicki!

My neighbor went as her for Halloween once. I went as He-Man, like, every year. Used to watch Small Wonder and Punky every morning before school.

And just so that I can end the night on a high note:

Yeah! I think of it every time I see that episode of the Golden Girls, where Dorothy says to Sophia, "You've got Martha Raye and Madge mixed up again".
EVERYONE was in that show! That is so weird. I don't think we taped it. I hadn't even thought about it

Used to watch Small Wonder and Punky every morning before school. Okay, Punky, I know. Soleil Moon Frye uh... really grew up. Heh.

Oh. My. God.

I used to LOVE that show!! When I was really little (like, before kindergarten) I would watch the reruns of that in the mornings. I thought it was "sooooo cool" that a family had a talking robot for a daughter. Of course, I also had an obsession with Kids Incorporated so there's no accounting for taste...

Ahh, the 80s. If time machines are ever invented, my first stop is 1984.

Small Wonder! My mother hated that kid, she used to say that her wink at the end of the intro looked like a facial tic. She HATED her, used to make fun of her all the time. Hilarious.

Remember Benson? Webster (Popodopolis)? Gimme a Break? Facts of Life (early years only, none of that crap with Clooney!) Too Close For Comfort? One Day At a Time?Ahh, the memories...

I have Alf sheets somewhere  Actually, it was more like a whole ensemble of Alf stuff. Fear not though, my love for 1000 thread count Egyptian Cotton has been there since birth - the Poly Alf stuff was my old rommates in the frat house  when he went home, I kept them for him and he never came to claim them. I wonder how much they are worth now - if I could even find them
