SAY WHAT NOW
Stevie performed this LIVE?
Doing the Best I Can is my 2nd fave song after Street Angel :wavey:
why would she do this for SA & not TOSOTM?

If it's the same thing I'm thinking of, it was from a TOSOTM era interview she did for British TV. She did Doing The Best That I Can sitting at the piano with Lori & Sharon. Is this the one you mean?
I have this on video, but not on my hard drive. I'm unable to copy vids right now, though. Anyone else?

totally! it should have been a single.............but ROF as a single was HOT!
I think this is probably one of the most under-appreciated songs she has released
personally I think it's one of her best!

I love it but I think it was probably too long for a single.

i agree, i love it, but its not single material. But neither was "Whole Lotta Trouble", but that didn't stop stevie from releasing it
The whole album marketed wrong in my opinion, WLT should never have been a single, and especially not accompanied with a video of a live performance where she doesn't even get the words in the right order  There were soo many songs that were better single material, i personally could have seen Ghosts or Cry Wolf, and maybe the album would have gone further?

^^^
so, after all this time, we find out where the "I'm a grown up, I'm not a child" comes from - and what we've long thought of as a demo, is not, actually
what a great interview...very sad too in a way (she does try to please everyone)...
thanks so much priestofnothing

Interesting bit of interview ... less interesting performance, I'm afraid.
It didn't have the power of the album version somehow. Sorry!

Wow, that was really great! Thanks priestofnothing! And actually, it was the beginning of this video that got me, as it was playing Ooh My Love and on the left side it was showing what seems to me to be a video for the song! I love her walking into the castle hall and just starting to twirl. It's too bad THAT video never surfaced...the song really should have been a single I think.

Very cool interview. This song has always been one of my alltime favorites (actually, I'm pleasantly surprised to see that so many others love it too!) and unbelievably, the song meant the same to me all those years as it did for Stevie! When does THAT ever happen.
I have to say though, the piano version didn't do much for me. That is such a powerful song otherwise.
