ABBA, the movie is pretty good. Lots of backstage stuff and cool performances that are pretty rare...like Tiger and Money Money Money

I think it's relatively easy to get now since it was re-released.

I think it was made during their Australian tour, not exactly sure...before my time

Over here ABBA have always had a huge base of both die-hard and general casual fans so we always have ABBA stuff released here with reasonable fan-fare.

It was released in 1977. I was 7 and really into Abba! It's a bit cheesy now but a must for all fans!

And yes... it was during the Australian tour

Is it nominated in this years category? that seems strage since it was released almost 30 years ago.

I've been an ABBA fan for like 5 years waiting for this re-release. They were talking about it when I first got into them so when I saw it in Wal-Mart and shrieked and impulsively bought it. It was pretty funny. Especially the reporter's fantasy with Angetha and Frida treading a fine line (*sings* "Two girls for every boy"....or if you're a real ABBA fan..."If you dream of the girl for you, call us and get two for the price of one")

I went to the Wherehouse record shop today and it wasn't there .I have a tape of ABBA the movie from VH1 which was showing it a few years back.I also have a DVD called ABBA in concert chronicling their fall 1979 tour which I actually saw at the San Diego Sports Arena that September .Oddly to this day I consider it one of the best concerts I have ever been to in my life and remember it like it was yesterday.

I like the part where they compare bums...

Indeed she was the J-Lo of the Continent with a much, much better singing voice.

For sure.

And it should be noted that ABBA: The Movie was directed by Lasse Hallström, who also did their promo videos. Nice to see what he ended up doing with his talent.

Have you seen Casanova, Richard? I saw it Friday and think it's one of his best; great script and an even better cast. Anything with Lena Olin is worth a look, anyway, and Sienna Miller & Heath Ledger are adorable in it. It's total fluff, but it's great fluff. I can't wait until it comes out DVD so I can make a Sunday afternoon of it and Chocolat. Still scratching my head over the R rating, though.

I am drooling to see it. I've heard good things, Diss, good things. Coming from you, I'm even more excited. I know we both have a thing for Lena Olin, so that's a given. How's Jeremy Irons in it?

I've heard the controversy about the R rating. Something about a suggestive "under the table" scene. It's probably appropriate for 5 year olds. The MPAA has gotten very conservative in their ratings in recent years.

Jeremy Irons is a hoot. You can tell he's having a ball. There's one scene between him and Oliver Platt that'll have you in stitches.

It was so mildly suggestive that it shouldn't have gotten anything more than a PG. It's just one big cream puff of a movie; completely harmless and fun. **** like Hostel and The Devil's Rejects, two of the sickest flicks I've ever seen, get R ratings and so does Casanova? It boggles the mind.
