Hey, just saw this on another list I am on - it is an extract from an e-mail Mike Vernon sent a list member in reference to the forthcoming Otis Spann reissue he is working on:

"...Am also working on remixing the whole BH session - loads of alternative takes and false starts plus one slow blues not even listed on my files!
Some truly great stuff ..."

the person who posted then added:

"He also says he's written a 7,000 word booklet to accompany it."

If it's the "Complete" Blue Horizon recordings, I would guess that this would include the Chess sessions as well as the sessions in New York a few days later for "Biggest Thing Since Colossus". I know that Spann also cut some tracks at the end of a session for Johnny Shines that he played on ("Last Night Dream")and that is where "Bloody Murder", the Excello single that "Blues For Hippies" was the B-side for. Be nice to get clean recordings of those on CD.
Another list member who is apparently familiar with the reissues added that the Eddie Boyd sessions are also in the pipeline - actually make sense to pair those to up for release.
No date was mentioned, but at this point, it seems as if we'll see them before we see anymore reissues from Rhino/Warners.

Thanks indeed!

Let's hope for loads of unreleased stuff, with Peter's guitar to the fore!
