The last time I saw Stevie Nicks, at a Fleetwood Mac concert about a decade ago, she spent most of the time wandering around stage looking very bewildered or mooching off to change into another diaphanous number so she could sing wispy, ethereal songs about Welsh witches. Here's Stevie, accompanied by a nine-piece band, singing songs from her solo career and songs that made her famous as part of Fleetwood Mac.
Hardcore baby boomer fans will flock to see the woman whose voice helped to define FM radio in the 1980s.

(So I won't say anything at all about the doofus who wrote this article ;) )

wispy, ethereal songs about Welsh witches.
To the editors of The Age, here's a clue, free of charge:
Rhiannon isn't the only song that Stevie's ever written. Frankly, it's probably the only song she's ever written that actually was about a witch.

And you know, even at that she didn't write a song about any witch at all, just some name she liked out of a papbeback book.

I remember being told that when stevie came out in 86 that all she changed costumes more than sing and fell off the stage... i think my mum told me that years ago.. my mum (i think) said that she would sing a song and go off stage for five minutes then come back on in another outfit sing another song and off she went again...

That's exactly how it was when I saw her in '86. And Curtis is right, she was doing a bit more than changing clothes. She would even go back stage DURING songs.

Unless, of course, you don't believe her when she says she _herself_ is not a witch...?
Anyway, under the picture beside the article, it says "The voice of Fleetwood Mac". I know she's probably the best _known_ of the "voices of Fleetwood Mac", but there are more than one of them.

"Those were the days, my friends..."
It was a 24-hour party for all the rock stars and the fans knew it, so I bet they never even thought it was anything unusual...

Actually, right this very second she's bending over her cauldron chanting, "Boil, boil, TOIL and TROUBLE!" ( and a Penguin just flew by the window of the sub-basement I'm in and Britney Spears is currently Presidential Material... )

Sounts like the author may have attended a "Behind The Mask" shows circa 1990...and yes, Stevie was looking very bewildered then, to say the least.

aw..the cocaine days.

You could tell that on Red Rocks DVD. Before the last number Stevie charges out from back stage looking very "wired". Peter Frampton appears to be laughing at her. I read this is where the closeups had to be reshot.

-But I LOVE how right before she goes off for the break, Waddy Wachtell is trying to subtley point in the direction she's supposed to be walking in, and then Stevie does an imitation of him just for laughs. C'monnn, that was FUNNY!

I missed that one. I'll have to take a closer look. Is this right after the bird sequence?

I think Stevie did more costume changing post-cocaine. The 'Behind The Mask' and 'OSOTM' shows were staggering in the amount of robe, hat and shawl changes. Remember, those were the 'satin bathrobe with shoulder pads' years, with boater hats and Frankenstein Reeblechs.

Absolutely! I have a Rock a Little show (forget which city) and her first costume change is more than half way through the concert. There were definitely more in the later years. And yes, those satin robes were dreadful!

there's a disease among music journalists that seems to be rampant -
even in this country. the symptoms usually strike writers who have mediocre talent and questionable taste in music.
often these people write about bands who's music they really don't know at all.
last time i checked, stevie's voice defined radio in the 70's, not the 80's.
what an ass. aussies drink too much.
