What's the most serious Commandment you ever broke?
Did you dishonor your father & mother? Did you covet your neighbor's wife or his mule? Did you murder? Did you not honor the Sabbath & keep it holy?

If that's anything to do with coveting thy neighbour's ass, I am guilty as charged, your honour :)

1. You shall have no other Gods before me.
2. You shall not make for yourself any carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter nor your manservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
5. Honor your father and mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.
6. You shall not murder.
7. You shall not commit adultery.
8. You shall not steal.
9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
10. You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s."

I am the Lord Your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
D'oh! I paid good money to be in the Egyptian House of Bondage!
You shall have no other gods beside Me. You shall not make for yourself any graven image, nor any manner of likeness, of any thing that is heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them, nor serve them, for I, the Lord Your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.
Kinda like Stevie Nicks...
You shall not take the name of the Lord Your God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that takes His name in vain.
Geez. SOMEBODY needs a sense of humor!
Remember the Sabbath, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work; but the seventh day is a Sabbath unto the Lord Your God, in it you shall not do any manner of work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your man-servant, nor your maid-servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger that is within your gates; for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested on the seventh day. Wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and made it holy.
Define work? And, frankly, isn't having a man-servant and a maid-servant kind of unholy to begin with? In any event, I can assure you my maid-servant doesn't consider it work (although my man-servant says I need to go through rehab).
Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord God gives you.
Does that include adoptees, or children of felons, crackheads, hookers, and murderers?
You shall not murder.
Does war count? What about self-defense? C'mon, you're supposedly all knowing. There are some real assholes out there!
You shall not commit adultery.
What if you weren't an adult at the time???
You shall not steal.
Does finding something of value, but not returning it, count? What about knowingly buying something for what is obviously the wrong price?
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
But, what if your neighbor is a real asshole who's broken most of the commandments? When opportunity knocks...
You shall not covet your neighbor's house, nor his wife, his man-servant, his maid-servant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is your neighbor's.
D'oh. My neighbor has such a hot man-servant. Actually, it's more like Puerto Rican boy servant...I've said too much...
So, what have we learned? Pedophiliac incest is okay by God!

I always wondered why it is "Do not covet thy neighbor's wife" is a sin, yet nothing is said about women. Does that mean the female can "covet, thy neighbor's husband?" and it is okay? If the bible is suppose to be taken literally, then women have free reign? Or does it (as I suspect) just point out the bible's sexist and patriarchal slant? Reason #353 why it isn't the path for me.

Ok now I have a real problem with this. I recently started seeing patients on Sunday afternoons that have no other way to get eyecare. How in the world could this break a commandment?!!

Okay, here's one I thought about. What if your neighbor is in his 60s, has a single 28 year old daughter, and you're a single 30 year old man. Is God saying that it would be breaking a commandment to ask a single woman out on a date just because she lives with her dad, who just so happens to be your neighbor?

I try say "Rhiannon" or "Ra" instead of "God", because God doesn't want us to take his name in vain (Agnostic anyway, just better to get 'em all on your side), while other Gods didn't specify. Now, really, if I were God, I'd much rather they went around swearing to me instead of swearing to Welsh Witches or Sun Gods/Very Large Beetles.

Damn. Which version/interpretation is this?- I have never seen it put this way. It is amazing to me how so many people think of God as a jealous tyrant, trembling at his feet the avoid to eternal flames of hell. Poor people. I am sorry for everyone that is afraid of God. How AWFUL.
