Very cool. How did you win it? I didn't want to splurge on one for me for Christmas. I don't know that I'd want a video one, though.

They had contests on TV (UPN) for weeks. Like, you could win $444 and an Xbox before, then they had some other prize, now the video ipod.
The TV said: "Watch (insert Simpsons, South Park, or Will and Grace) at (insert 10:30, 11:00, etc. depending on the show) and type in the secret word, and you could win a video ipod!!!"
So, I watch those shows anyway and have been entering whenever I noticed; quite a bit. Then I won.
Yeah, I didn't really want a video one, either. But, you know. What do they do? I think you can only get videos from their sites...not like I can take Stevie videos with me wherever I go. :p
I wish I'd have won during the "$444" time...
It is rad to win things, though.
Yay Amber!!!!! Congrats on your win! I say keep it even though I have no idea what it does.

I don't know if I'm getting the 30 or 60, though. Probably the thirty.

Thats the one I just spent 300 clams on last weekend. I really like it. It was daunting at first, but I got the hang of it after 2 days.

Cool! Yeah, apparently you can watch TV shows and stuff, there's also audiobooks, podcasts...
Hey, the other page says you can put your own videos on it - Is that true?
What do you like best about yours?

I've got several MPEGs on my laptoppy that I wants to put on my iPOD but I havent figured THAT out yet. I have over 1,000 songs on it already...its real cool because you can go in and name each song, album title and year it was released, change the display....the "click wheel" took me about 30 minutes to figure out. I didnt know you just "roll" your finger in a circle. I thought mine was defective because I thought the wheel literally rolled.

Cool. I just saw this on the site "Learn how to use QuickTime 7 Pro to export your home movies to iTunes and sync them to your new iPod." By "home movies" could that mean "videos I have on DVD"? :)

Awesome! Congrats, hon. :D
Though I'm with you on not wanting a video iPod. What the hell would one watch on it? Can you put any kind of video file onto it or what? And isn't the screen, like, an inch and a half?

Thanks! I love winning stuff.
Well, I just perused the store, and there's lots of TV shows, audio books, music (of course, tons I want), videos, and podcasts (which I don't totally understand, because they had some TV shows listed under podcast, and I thought it was just audio? Which would be lame for a TV show, unless it was a documentary. I noticed they had "Curb Your Enthusiasm" in there...:woohoo: ). They have quite a lot of all those things, so maybe it will be cool? The screen is 2.5" I think? Yeah, small. I haven't figured out yet if you can put your own videos (which is what I want) but I did find a tantalizing tidbit that said "learn how to put your own home movies on your ipod using...Quicktime 7 pro!"
but I dunno. I guess it's cool that I can store more stuff, if nothing else. I suspect it will be a bit cooler than I think. I hope so. So far I've just seen tons of available music that I want and don't have. As many of you know, I hardly have any music.

That's so cool! :blob1: I think that even if you don't want to put videos on it, you will appreciate the larger screen for album artwork, or your own photos.

Congratulations, Amber! My boss's daughter (isn't that a movie?) won one at her company's Christmas party... she's not too sure how to use it yet either, but was intrigued when I told her she can download current episodes of Lost from iTunes' website (she travels a lot).
I'm sure you'll get a lot of enjoyment out of it, once you start exploring all of the options, etc.

That is crazy! You can download TV shows to watch on that itty bitty screen? How much does each episode cost? How can anyone see anything? I envision millions of people in the future whose eyes perpetually squint all because of this insane invention.
And "Lost" of all shows? Half the fun of watching it is looking at the pretty scenery. At least to me. 2.5" couldn't possibly do it (or Matthew Fox  ) justice.

You're right, it does seem like it would be awfully difficult to see anything on such a small screen, but a lot of people surf the web, check their email, and play video games on those miniscule cell-phone screens, so I guess at least it's a little better than that.
For the record, video iPods are mainly meant for people who spend a lot of time stuck on subways, in buses, on airplanes, etc., and are looking for some entertainment to and from work or school.
(Oh, and I agree... Foxy NEEDS to be appreciated on a much bigger screen. Mmmm. *drools like Homer*)

What a rip. Download 'em from the torrent sites until the DVDs come out.

I had a cell phone about four years ago and that was one of the reasons I got rid of it, because I couldn't see jack **** on it. I also never used it and thought it was nothing but a pain in the ass, though. How people can use the web and email and all that jazz on those things escapes me. I think I'd find it maddening.

Oh my, he's certainly droolworthy. He's beautiful. I thought so even when he was on that horrid show Party of Five (which I begrudgingly admit to actually watching and even contemplate picking up the DVDs just for nostalgic reasons). I wish his old show Haunted would come out on DVD, too, it burned my ass when it got canceled. That? Was an amazing show. Which is probably why it was axed, of course.

Almost all of the most interesting shows get cancelled way too soon.

I do spend a good amount of time in trains and buses. And walking.
I'm not really into squinting, though. My ishuffle doesn't have a screen, and I like that.
I don't like Lost anyways.:p

It was such a great show. If I remember correctly, it was axed after only six or seven episodes even though they shot lots more. It didn't surprise me much that it was canceled because it was an extremely dark show (darker than "Millennium" if you ask me, which says a lot), but it's still a shame that the ratings were so low. I can only hope for a DVD with all the unaired episodes. I'm kind of surprised they haven't released a set yet to capitalize on Foxy's success with Lost.

No ****. American Gothic, Keen Eddie, Miracles, Pasadena, etc. It seems like every show I love gets axed almost immediately.

I just got the video Ipod for Christmas from my husband and it freaking rocks. You can download videos or tv shows on it for $1.99. The screen is about 2.5 inches but it has amazing color and quality. I downloaded some videos recently and they look like they are in HD, the quality is that good. I showed the ipod to a lot of my friends and they all couldnt believe how good the quality is. It also has games on it along with an alarm clock and a calendar.

HOORAY!!!!!
I just watched Chain Mirage on my ipod video! finally. All of Mirage is on there. I had to convert the DVD twice. First I had to decrypt it, then I had to transfer it to MPEG4 form, I guess. I did that all last night. But I was hung up on then transferring it to my itunes library. But right now I finally figured out that I don't have to import it, I can just drag it into itunes.:) I'm converting the Angel portion of Tusk doc right now. It's already a file on my computer rather than a DVD, so I don't have to decrypt it first, just the other one. Ooo, that one hardly took any time!

Okay, just one last thing. My friend Rain just called, she's in town. ( ) and whatever - but -
She just won an ipod, too, from another contest. Not a video one, but still. And she got two A's this semester, as well.
I just thought that was weird.
