Hmm, at that rate we would need one thousand Ledgies to raise 10k. I don't even think that would be enough. Let's bring this subject up again when folks have recovered from Christmas. Let's say, in August?

If 50 ledgies have 3 grand a piece I bet we could make something happen.
Okay, maybe 3100. I could get a small room in LA with well drinks and food for about 5 grand.

Yeah - the last I heard Stevie was $150,000 a night. 100 Ledgies at a $1500 each would be plausible. I mean how many people paid $1000 to see her at AZ heart benefit?? And this would be much more intimate!!

Although I am sure those 150 people would not invite other non paying Ledgies to attend...I guess that just wouldn't be fair.

Hehe. Hey, the only one of those I'd even remotely like to see is WISYA. I totally maintain that a stripped down acoustic version with Lindsey on guitar, and fewer "whatsamaatabaybay"s would be pretty sweet.

Also, here is a definition of the expression:

Dyed in the wool: The expression "dyed in the wool" refers to a state of steadfastness, usually in one's political, religious or social beliefs. The expression comes from the fact that fabric can be dyed in a number of ways. The woven fabric may be dyed after it is complete, or the threads may be dyed before they are woven. When a color is "dyed in the wool," the wool itself is dyed before being spun into threads, so the colour is least likely to fade or change.

That's what I was kind of thinking, maybe she'd be more responsive to that than the fact that a bunch of her most obsessed fans coughed up cash to hire her for a private show.

And I'd feel better spending 1 or 2K that went to charity.

She does these corporate (private) shows for the money. It is a nice chunk of change for one nights work. Stevie Nicks is 'for sale'. Price tag: $150,000 for 1 1/2 hours....and that doesn't mean she is gonna hang out and mingle with the party go-ers.

Charity? Nah, don't think so. That is why she has AZ benefits. I don't think she would want a bunch of her fans organizing a show for charity for her. That would be too disorganized. (A lot of work goes into preparing these charity gigs).

Cough up the $150,000 and she'll show up.

Janis_no1

seeker007nmss
01-03-2006, 10:17 PM
If we actually did this, I think itwould HAVE to include a question session and picture/autograph time for EVERYONE who contributes. I would give up time of performing songs to get this in. I doubt she will want to do more than acouple of hours anyway. A friend of mine does this sort of thing for a living. And many of the "stars" are much more receptive to do meet/greets than performing. (Very pricey and time consuming to perform) How about if we skip the singing and have her give a little "story session" along with the above. Would be way cheaper and less expensive. Also a more private venue could be used, if a minimal perfornance was wanted ?acoustic only? Imagine Stevie doing songs with just a guitar or piano? Unplugged - only so much better.

Just a thought. I just think a performance would be $$$$$$$$ expensive $$$$. I say go meet and greet with autographs and questions.

reebokandlace
01-03-2006, 10:25 PM
Either way it is $150,000 for 1 hour 30 minutes.

I think people would be more receptive to hearing her play a very small intimate concert of 150 people for 1 hour 30 minutes

versus

no concert but doing a 90 minute meet and greet with 150 people which equates to each person spending 36 SECONDS with her for $1000.00.

You don't get both. It is considered a corporate gig. 90 minutes. Period. Wanna add another 90 minutes?? ...add another $100,000 onto the bill.

Rickypt
01-03-2006, 10:30 PM
I'd rather have the concert.

As for charity, it couldn't possibly be more disorganized than the AHI benefit I went to, but I'm hearing you. She does it for the cash.

I'm doubtful we are going to find 150 people who will pay $1000, however.

Unfortunately, my club contacts are only in LA, so I would be out of the planning on that one.

I really and truly think that finding 150 people is doable. Really. I think whomever said it would be "disorganized" has underestimated us. I attended that willy nilly '98 AHI gig so I'm no stranger to the frustration that such an event can cause.

One thing I think would be important is extra security. But they have to be trained to not f*ck with Stevie's people. Hehe. We also have to make sure that we have tickets that cannot be duplicated. I haven't heard back from the event company yet. They may just ignore me. That's okay though because I will try again at some point in the near future! :D

Last night I was thinking a "Storytellers" format would be awesome. The intention is for this event to be very structured. I think that one on one time with Stevie might be too much to ask. Although, maybe we could get her to do the photo thing. I know that's just a quick thing but you at least get a hug and a few words. Man, that would be more than enough for me!

Sparky has the venue handled, so LA. This would be convenient for Stevie!

I would like to amend this suggestion

Venue:

Mama Nicks' House

i'm all up for tossing in 1000$ on the proviso she sings STREET ANGEL

+ I'm willing to avail myself as her body guard/wardrobe assistant

Me too!! If she will agree to do it, I totally want to be there! :blob1:

I wonder how she will react with every person in the audience singing every single word with her?

not just every word
but every 'oooh,' 'well' and ad lib

Stevie would be like 'What the HELL kinda birthday party is THIS!'

I really and truly think that finding 150 people is doable. Really. I think whomever said it would be "disorganized" has underestimated us. I attended that willy nilly '98 AHI gig so I'm no stranger to the frustration that such an event can cause.

I think I said it would be disorganized...but I meant the "donating the proceeds to charity aspect"...not the concert organization... I think it is doable...

Count me in!

Maybe we should start another thread of a head count of how many people actually have the money to do this to see if we get 150 people who can afford to hire her.

Lets not forget the additional overhead charges:
~the expense of the venue (hall, lodge, whatever)
~the sound equiptment (it is not like the band hauls their own PA system around to these corporate gigs...they are not a garage band or 21 year olds with a van....LOL) all they show up with is their instruments and mics.
~ the guy or gal who runs the sound board
~ the crew to set up and strike the stage
~ Lighting
~ the guy or gal who runs the lights
~the security
~beverage service for the fans (unless we do a BYO)
~food and beverage for the band
~ we would have to hire an event organizer to process $1500.00 payments, it is not like 150 people are going to turn over their money to one fan who is organizing this~ that is a liabilty~ it does not matter who is the "most trustworthy fan"~ it is still a liabilty for that person who is receiving the funds~ and being that there is no one here naive enough to take on that liabilty (although they say there is a sucker born every day...lol) we would have to hire an event organizer....

So at this point we are looking at close to $1800 per person at the very least...based on 150 people....

Are there any other expenses I might have missed?

(Thank god we would not be responsible for her transportation or hotel expenses -- that is figured into the $150,000)

I'm not sure what the level of committment for everyone else is, but I would really do this. If the venue is in NY it's doable for me- West coast would be much more difficult. I can help with hotel accommodations- I can get discounted room rates at Marriott.

I'd love to be in...but I couldn't be in for about another year while I save up for it and I think it would take me about that long, problem is that along with $1500 there is also about that amount again in airfares atleast, etc from Australia plus accommodation but if it gets off the ground...hell I'll get a fund going for myself and start saving now.

hmmmmmmmmmmm so you'd all be looking at (to be safe) around 2000$ that way, any extra could just be divided up amonst every1 and returned

if this was towards the end of the year, or early next year
COUNT ME IN!!

I'm in Oz too. So I need 2000$ which is like 2500$ after the exchange + another 2000$ for a flight to LA and accomo. But i'm all for signing my life away and living at home for ANOTHER year for La Nicks :]

I don't think I'd be willing to shell out 1800 ducats just to see the same old show that I saw last summer for just around $100.If she was willing to take audience requests for her own songs that she has performed live at least at some point in her career ie. SOTM, Blue Lamp.Sleeping Angel etc. then I think it might be worth it .I think it would be too much to expect her to perform something that has never been worked out live like Battle of The Dragon although I would love to see it done.Someone like Tori Amos does this all the time albeit with mostly just her voice and piano .I just don't see this happening with La Nicks though. Not unless we were willing to cross her palm with way more dinero than the standard $150,000.

I'd think our chances of this happening would be better if it's before FM goes back on the road?

And while I'd also love for Stevie to play requests (or anything different than the typical setlist), I think reality dictates that won't happen. Even if she were slightly open to the idea, it would require too much rehearsal time.

I am willing to pay $2K for an intimate private show of no more than 150-200 people, knowing it will be the boring setlist. I think when an actual head count begins, that should probably be the criteria (those who will pay regardless of setlist expectatons, and knowing they will likely not meet her, get her autograph, etc.)

I have no problem not meeting her...I think it would be better for Stevie if she didn't have to meet the fans. And since it's a private show, I think the performance would be much better...

Well I wonder if we could maybe get her to do maybe just one or two songs out of the ordinary that we would request in advance or something?
I think it would have to be something she would feel comfortable performing at this point in time, like maybe Trouble in Shangri-la :] or something from SYW? Something she has released recently that her voice can still handle for sure but everyone wants to hear.

But I agree, I wouldn't mind her playing her regular setlist one bit with that small of a show.

If you guys are gonna do this you should also take into account that most people who cough up $2,000 will want to bring someone along. Two tickets for two grand seems fair enough to me, and let's face it 300-400 people is still a tiny concert.

I would not do it if 300-400 fans were to attend. That is getting to be too much of a crowd. I would spend the money for a very small intimate show of 100-150 people. If 300-400 fans were to be there I would much rather spend money buying front row tickets for a concert.

If you think about the Bar Mitzvah show out of the 500 people who attended that party most of them were not standing there in front of the stage listening to the show ~ there was a crowd of about 50 people (mostly teenagers) stage front- the rest were mingling, eating, sitting at tables conversing...etc...most did not care about the entertainment. Most corporate/private gigs are like that. But to do a show with 300-400 fans it is no longer intimate....like I said before, might as well just go to a concert and fork out the bucks to sit front row.

EnchantedSLN
01-08-2006, 06:34 PM
I'm skeptical it could be pulled off... not because of any lack of collective willpower or organizational skills on behalf of Ledgies, I just can't see Stevie/her management agreeing to it or there being enough people willing to commit for it to work, financially. But I'd be in... IF they'll allow for a little customization of the setlist. Obviously it would be completely unrealistic to submit a song list packed with demos and obscurities, but to ask for one or two novel songs plus a couple more that haven't been performed in awhile isn't so unreasonable. Otherwise the only difference between this and a regular show would be the fact that there are only a couple hundred people there. Which, don't get me wrong, is really cool... but I've been to that before without paying $2K and would hope for the actual show to be just a little different.

I do think the idea is awesome, though. I can see the publicity now ;). A group of little guys banding together to hire their favorite artist. Could be the opposite of that whole bat mitzvah thing for her, news-wise. Even better if she'd do it as a charity benefit.

Heh, how did I miss this? :D You can guys can count me in for the 2k, it shouldn't be a problem if I can get a heads up a couple of weeks in advance. I don't have 2k just up for grabs, but I can get it together if need be. ;)

I polled this on 7W not long ago, and these songs are what people voted for most for a private party:

- Sisters of the Moon

- Doing the Best I Can

- Nightbird

- Sara

- Storms

- Gypsy

- Sable on Blond

And most agreed that Sara, Storms and Gypsy should be played accoustically.

Yeah, I think most people feel that way...a crowd of 300-400 in front of a stage is no different than sitting the first few rows of a concert....there is no intimacy with that many people. I understand that some people only want to pay $1000.00 so they can bring a spouse or friend with them, but the whole idea of hiring stevie to do a private gig is for a very intimate small show. If they want to go to the show AND bring a friend that badly then they can pay what everyone else is paying and keep it intimate.

Yeah, for that kind of coinage, I need it to be very different from standing front row in front of 10,000 other people.

I would hope we could

- send her a suggested set list :)

- meet her afterwards

I wouldn't bring anyone I know who wasn't a huge Stevie fan (therefore, I'd be coming alone and joining you guys). I think this would have to be a collection of nothing but die hard dedicatees, for whom this would be a moment in life that would never be forgotten.

Hmmm... that sounds a lot like the second Atlantic City show last summer. I don't think there were even 1,000 people there, but the small crowd was really, really enthusiastic. Good times

I also think that if this could ever be pulled off, there should be some kind of tacit understanding that the show would be properly recorded and CDs would be distributed to all in attendance. And every Ledgie would have to sign an oath, in their own blood, that they would never sell or trade this recording. Or it can only be traded ONLY for the following:

-The Wild Heart masters
-The Rodney Jerkins sessions
-The Dallas Austin sessions
-The complete Buckingham Nicks 1974 Alabama concert

In my email to the company that books Stevie I asked about the possibility of choosing some songs for the setlist. Well, I haven't heard back at all but I will try again anyway. I think that to pull it off at $1,000 a head we would have to make it a minimum of 200 people. That pays Stevie (150k), the venue, security, and might still even be a bit tight. I haven't actually crunched all of the numbers. We could make the max 250. OR, we can have different tiers of tickets, the front three rows being more expensive, thus bringing the headcount down.

I have to wait to actually do this though because my 1k is now going to an unexpected trip to Kenya. My friends decided to go there and have a wedding. They're already married here but her family is there and they want to have a wedding there. I guess that leaves time for some research!

I was thinking about perhaps creating a really nice invitation for Stevie to do this gig. Something that could convey how much we will appreciate it and how special we will make her feel. What do y'all think of that idea?

I think it's an excellent idea to create a nice invitation directly to Stevie about this performance. Otherwise the request might not ever get past this corporate events company because they won't take us seriously.

I would do a friendly, yet somewhat formal, letter of invitation that states clearly what is being asked and that it would be a special event for some of her most "diehard" fans (use her terms). And not make it too gushy, or she might freak out.

I think what her management would want to know from the invitation is that (1) we are serious, (2) we are aware how much it costs, and (3) we will provide whatever necessary to ensure Stevie's protection and comfort.

I haven't been around for a few days, and I didn't read this whole thread, but just wanted to add my two cents worth (sorry if it has been addressed). I think Stevie's fee may be 150K -ish, but dont forget her 'people' always go with her, and I am sure travel and accommodations that they would be used to would tack on several tens of thousands. This outfit doesn't respond to emails, but also want a date and type of event and location before they will give a for sure dollar amount. Maybe to run past her for approval??

I think I said it would be disorganized...but I meant the "donating the proceeds to charity aspect"...not the concert organization... I think it is doable...

Count me in!

Maybe we should start another thread of a head count of how many people actually have the money to do this to see if we get 150 people who can afford to hire her.

Lets not forget the additional overhead charges:
~the expense of the venue (hall, lodge, whatever) sparky says 5 grand - Suze~the sound equiptment (it is not like the band hauls their own PA system around to these corporate gigs...they are not a garage band or 21 year olds with a van....LOL) all they show up with is their instruments and mics. - this is an audio equipped venue - Suze~ the guy or gal who runs the sound board
~ the crew to set up and strike the stage
~ Lighting
~ the guy or gal who runs the lights
~the security
~beverage service for the fans (unless we do a BYO) - venue has this - Suze
~food and beverage for the band sure this isn't included in 150k? - Suze
I'd rather not if we can avoid it. Unless someone really knows a reputable one.
So at this point we are looking at close to $1800 per person at the very least...based on 150 people....

Are there any other expenses I might have missed?

(Thank god we would not be responsible for her transportation or hotel expenses -- that is figured into the $150,000)
....

Somehow I missed this post, thank you for your suggestions :) I've made a couple of notes above I'm going to start a google group soon so we can discuss this with those who are serious. Anyone who is serious about attending this in, let's say August, PM me.

I'm wondering if it is possible to set this up as a trust, like when people make deposits for someone's college education. Folks can make their own deposit and there are strict rules on withdrawal. The withdrawal could only be a check for Ms Nicks. Plus everyone would have a money back gaurantee in writing if the concert is cancelled. I'll have to figure out if this can be done.

I think that maybe you should send a nice, but small gift hamper with the invitation so that Stevie can see you really have put a lot of time and effort into it! :D

You could put some nice creams, soaps and maybe a candle into it!

I like this idea. Do you know that here in the states a "hamper" is only something you put dirty clothes in, otherwise it is called a "basket"? So I did a double-take at first at your suggestion! But I think it is a nice idea. I definitely want to put in some nice smelling things like nag champa. I have some in my desk drawer at home and every time I open it I get a wave of happiness because I just adore the scent. That would be a nice touch I think.

I did too! Just the thing to seal the deal, send Stevie a basket of dirty laundry.

Haha, "Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down!" Can't see "dirty laundry" without thinking of Henley.

PM me if you are serious about attending and know you can come up with $1,000 Please PM me with your email address if you are serious about this. I want to setup a google group to take this off of this forum.

$1000 is not going to cut it for a small intimate show of 150 people.

If more than 150 people are attending count me out.

Umm....to avoid liability you need to hire an event organizer or else the fan who is taking on the responsibilty of organizing this is taking on a HUGE legal liability...if you are going to try to organize this yourself without hiring an event planner THEN PLEASE CONSULT AN ENTERTAINMENT ATTORNEY...this is a huge undertaking and it must be legal and organized.

Even the Bar Mitzvah concert had event planners, attorneys, there are contracts to be signed...blah blah blah....

I am not saying it can not be done, but you must do it right or else it won't happen. Its not like a bunch of fans are having a party and inviting Stevie "come on by and bring your band" This is a contract. You are hiring her for a show.

Have you ever been to a gig with 300 people? I go to them all the time and believe me that is intimate. There is a world of difference between a small venue and the front rows of a huge seated area.

Many, and I didn't have to pay $1000.

And yes, I have been to a Corporate/Mitzvahpalooza type show too... BIG DIFFERENCE between a crowd of 300 and a crowd of 100!!

I've been to hundreds of gigs through the years and I don't personally think there's that much difference between a gig with 150 and 300. :)...

I agree to disagree on that point. ;)

Still there's no point arguing, cos I don't think this will ever happen myself. I wish Stevie would just go and do a tour of small venues instead, as a little present to her fanbase, but that's never gonna happen either...

I agree. The logistics of this is just....well....it's not realistic.

There is a better chance of someone wealthy on this board hiring her to do a private birthday party where most of the attendees aren't die hard fans.

To be realistic, you are looking at close to $500,000-$700,000 to hire Stevie to do a show like you are asking her to do.

I've been reading this thread with bemusement, since I book corporate parties for my corporation. I didn't want to mention anything, because you all seemed so hyped about the idea, and I did not want to inject a dose of reality into your plans. But I must agree with Reebok -- the dollar amount you are looking at to book someone of Stevie's calibre is at least a half mill....

Oh, and by the way, YOU do not pick the performer's set-list. They sing what they want to sing. Sometimes, they may be willing take ONE request.

And you DO NOT get to "meet and greet" the performer after the show. :sorry:

But good luck with your planning......

It doesn't matter because there isn't enough interest in making this happen to get it off the ground. I received 5 definites and that is all. So sorry to those of you who wanted to see this happen. For those of you who were supportive and helpful I appreciate it very much.

Thank you for the effort you put into it. There's no way any of us would know what it would entail until we tried. Stevie would be flattered to know how much we would love to have done this. Poor little naive us. :xoxo:

What would make this happen is money so let's save some and then talk about this in the future. :) :xoxo: You never know, one of us may be wealthy at that point.

I have to agree with you on most points. A friend of mine does the same thing. You CAN get a "meet and greet" with the performer in some cases. It all depends on the C&C - Cash and Contract. The more cash you have - the more you can add to the contract. The cash part just gets silly after awhile. "Sure, I will do that, but it will cost an extra $300,000" kind of thing. It all comes down to the bucks. Also depends on the level of celebrity, what else they are doing at the time.... etc, Start saving those nickles and dimes! I bet for 50 million we COULD get the setlist we wanted and a meet and greet from Stevie...

Everybody Finds Out is...recent

Heh, how did I miss this? :D You can guys can count me in for the 2k, it shouldn't be a problem if I can get a heads up a couple of weeks in advance. I don't have 2k just up for grabs, but I can get it together if need be. ;)

I polled this on 7W not long ago, and these songs are what people voted for most for a private party:

- Sisters of the Moon

- Doing the Best I Can

- Nightbird

- Sara

- Storms

- Gypsy

- Sable on Blond

And most agreed that Sara, Storms and Gypsy should be played accoustically.

Holy Crap. that's a good set list
i would settle for THAT in a second
NO QUESTIONS ASKED
