Gwen Stefani Said Pregnant With First Baby

Gwen Stefani, nominated for five Grammy Awards including album of the year for "Love.Angel.Music.Baby.," is pregnant with her first child, according to Us Weekly.

The 36-year-old pop star and Gavin Rossdale, 38, were married three years ago. The baby is due in June, the magazine reported Tuesday.

"We are delighted," Us Weekly quotes Rossdale's father, Douglas, as saying. Stefani's mother, Patti, also reportedly confirmed the pregnancy to the magazine.

An e-mail from The Associated Press to Stefani's representative wasn't immediately returned Tuesday.

Rossdale has a 16-year-old daughter, Daisy Lowe, from his relationship with fashion designer Pearl Lowe. He discovered he was the father in 2004 after taking a DNA test.

"Love.Angel.Music.Baby." is Stefani's first solo album. It includes one of the biggest songs of the year, "Hollaback Girl." That infectious single also earned Stefani a nomination for record of the year and best female pop vocal performance.

She is the lead singer of No Doubt and a budding fashion designer.

The British-born Rossdale fronted the rock band Bush, which released the popular 1994 album, "Sixteen Stone." They last released the 2001 album, "Golden State," as well as a greatest hits CD in November.

Wow, 38 and Madonna was in her 40's when she had her two tots. This has me thinking...when is the scary age to have children? I wonder this a.) because so many more women are starting to have children in their late 30's to early 40's and b.) I am 30 and nowhere near ready to have children yet so I wonder how long I can go before it becomes scary. I've heard that once you turn 40 the possiblities of birth defects and complicated pregnancies increase.

I just know Gwen Stefani has said in many articles that she wants a baby.

I am surprised she is doing it now, but I guess she can be pregnant to make the album and once the baby is born, she can release it...because I know she must be doing another album.

I like her. I loved Hollaback Girl, and songs 8-11 on her album very much ( esp Serious)

She is like one of the few people from when I was in high school who has kept it up. I come from Jewel, Sarah, Alannis, Fiona, No Doubt...that time and few can just keep the level of fame she has. I know that means **** but it must be hard since so few could do it.

Anyhoo-good for her. 36 is late but everyone waits that long now. I am 28 and feeling scared that I will be that old ( just because I can't even find a boyfriend at this point) .

But I guess by then, I wouldn't even want to put a baby on this earth....

I hear you. Unfortunately in the world we're living is very tough for a woman to have a child early, if she also cares to be independent and a bit safe in the work field. Certainly our parents have been more courageous. Hopefully, people who become parents in their late thirties or early forties would feel more self conscious of their choice.

A friend of mine is pregnant at 43. She said that the pregnancies of women 35 and older are considered "senior" pregnancies. :shudder: Modern society seems to be ignoring this biological reality. I hope that I can have a child later if I want to. I just never wanted to have one until I was ready to fully support it in every way. I also never had any interest in being a single mother so I would want to be married to a good father type! I feel like since I don't have a child yet it just wasn't meant to be. Perhaps it will be in the future.

This is exactly how I feel. I'm glad I've gotten all my schooing out of the way but my hubby is in the process of getting his Ph.D. and he's at the very beginning stages of his dissertation. It'll be at least a year before he finishes that, and then who knows how long it'll take him to get a job once he goes on the market . I'm sitting here going, "my biological clock is ticking like this [insert stomping of feet like Marissa Tomei in "My Cousing Vinny"] and he's just taking his own sweet time. We'll be lucky at this" rate to have children by the time I'm 35!

But wow, 43! Is your friend having a smooth pregnancy? I hope so!

She is! She's very healthy and says that the doctors and nurses always look at her like there should be something wrong but there isn't! Haha.

What is your husband getting his PhD in? You may want to get a pamphlet or other documentation about female fertility to show him. He probably doesn't get it.

PFFFFFFFFFFFT! You're right...he really doesn't get it, he thinks I should be able to have kids forever I guess! Of course he doesn't think of the physical toll child-bearing has on a woman's body, not to mention a woman of more mature years. Oh, and he's getting his Ph.D in American Literature. I am going to throw the biggest party when he finishes, it'll be like, okay, now we can BREATHE!

A big party is a great idea! That will be quite an accomplishment. Most guys don't understand female reproduction - too scary! Here's some good info http://amazingpregnancy.healthology.com/focus_article.asp?b=amazingpregnancy&f=fertility&c=gyno_biologicalclock&spg=FI

So...20% chance at the age of 30? Yikes. But seriously, I'm glad i didn't have kids in my 20's, I mean for one thing, I got married when I was 27 (and i wouldn't have done that ANY sooner) plus I was in school for the better part of my 20's so, to me, it would've been unthinkable to have kids then. I mean, I'm glad I accomplished what I accomplished in my 20's, but now I'm starting to think about the future, and I don't want to wake up one day and regret missing out on something that could've been great. However, on the flip-side, my boss who is in her 50's does not regret not having children for a second. She is very happy with her life and seems very fulfilled and together and is about to retire and travel the world. How great does that sound?
