yeah -
you can tell there was no perspective as to what was art and what wasn't at the time. probably way too much drinking and drugging going on.

i did however, like where sandy stewart was headed with her Blue Yonder project. Some of those tracks had real potential.

I actually liked Saddest Victory at the time and it did get some MTV and radio airplay. But yeah the production on the album sounds horribly dated now.Cheesy 80s and not in a good way.

It's not a good album -- it's typical (not even prototypical) '80s synth-chug music -- but that never stopped me from loving Stevie's solo albums, either!

Back then, any project Stevie was audible on was ipso facto exciting to my ears, she was such a good singer back then. These days, not only do I ignore her guest spots, I ignore her own albums, too. Back then, she just opened her mouth, bleated & added magic to everything she touched -- most of it crap turned into gold dust, like Marilyn Martin's "Sorcerer."

david, if that's indeed your thoughtful view, i find your artistic approach to be slightly problematic... you don't really seem to understand rock's esthetic measures. you may consider skipping this whole rock music thing, and switch to opera, where you may find music's greatest vocal achievements.
the whole point about being a rock singer is to let one's personality shine through the singing, in a way, vocal imperfections are a parrallelization to the singer's imperfection as a human, having a "big" voice is only a secondary requirement (usually useless altogether) in rock.
yes, stevie had a much clearer voice back then, but i strongly believe that despite its current limitations, her vocal expression is more than enough to keep her as one of rock's most valuable posessions.

These days, not only do I ignore her guest spots, I ignore her own albums, too. You're doing yourself a disservice if you haven't checked out her recent guest appearance on Chris Isaak's 'Christmas' album. It's short and sweet, but she really shines there.

I think your wild hearted, uninhibited, sex-goddess Stevie is long gone though.

Just thought i'd add my tuppence, for what it's worth!

i bought Sandy Stewart's Cat Dancers as an import vinyl lp, and i loved it then (with or withour Stevie). i came across the Blue yonder album a bit later, and have the Vinyl of that too (and a very valuable tape version!!)

I love Sandy stewart's voice/songwriting and collaborations with Stevie

Wish somebody could shed some light on what she's been up to lately.

The last i heard was a song on another girls album (dont remember her name right now) called Blind ambition

It's short and sweet, but she really shines there.I have a DVD of one of her concerts from earlier this year -- I think it's from Las Vegas or Los Angeles or one of the Las/Los-es -- & there's something on it called "Circle Dance." It's pretty, Johnny. It's pretty. I'm not altogether sure what it is or what it's doing there or what part it plays in the Stevie Nicks story, but it is pretty. It doesn't have a beat but you can hum it. I like it. I'm not sure how much I like it, or whether I will like it next summer or next life, but right now I like it.
I think your wild hearted, uninhibited, sex-goddess Stevie is long gone though. That's okay. Actually, that's more than okay, Johnny. Stories shouldn't last forever. They need beginnings, middles & ends; they need wrapping up. Stories need closure. Stevie Nicks has a beginning, a middle & an end in the fiction I have created of her. This particular story has a nicely rounded dramatic arc & denoument.

Stevie is right out of Madox Ford's "Good Soldier." But her fans believe she's out of "Hedda Gabler."

Then again, I can't think of a character in 'Good Soldier' that I'd want to be compared to either. Though I suppose the story could encompass the whole of Fleetwood Mac's late '70s shenanigans.

Shuttlecocks, indeed.

Sandy wrote or co-wrote two songs that I know of. “Valentine” by Belinda Carlisle on her “Runaway Horses” CD and “Falling Like Rain” by Tina Turner on her “Foreign Affair” CD.

But something special you have hoped for could happen when you look at the crowd applauding at you at the end of Hedda Gabler; as Le gout des autres (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0216787/) showed once again there could always be a new beginning even after Ibsen.
