Just so we don't have to keep preverting Paula's thread...
Sparky and Diss have already mention the likes of Blondie, Judas Priest, David Byrne, and Echo and the Bunnymen.

Bryan Ferry's "Slave To Love"
Atlanta Rhythm Section's "So Into You"
Otis Redding's "These Arms of Mine"
Tracy Chapman's "Smoke and Ashes"
Peggy Lee's "Fever"
Solomon Burke's "Cry To Me"
That is all I can think of for now. I know that there is a lot more. ;)

Barry White
Well, it gets the ladies in the mood. Guys are almost always in the mood. Barry is the difference between a little fun and the greatest time I've ever had!

Some songs that come to mind:
The Killing Moon - Echo and the Bunnymen
Stay - Oingo Boingo
Poison Arrow - ABC
You Spin Me Round - Dope
Floods - Flin Flon
Jumpers - Flin Flon
Queer - Garbage
Pretty Baby - Blondie
Orchid Club - Blondie
Cautious Lip - Blondie (though it can be a bit too freaky at times)
Something In the Air - David Bowie
Lots of Franz Ferdinand
Surprisingly good music to have sex to:
Shakira and Edith Piaf.
Not on the same occasion, of course.

I would have to say anything blues-y. Otis Redding is definitely a good choice. In fact, the entire Dirty Dancing soundtrack suffices.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit it, but my first boyfriend and I had our first time together to the sounds of the Backstreet Boys (his CD).
I don't know if it's necessarily "the best" sex music, but it sure didn't hinder us!

I saw that, but I couldn't leave it off of my list, that is an album I have never tired of, since the year it came out.
I agree with the Echo & the Bunnymen choice too, in fact I would let the whole side two of the LP of Ocean Rain play. Well, I hope I would have to;)

I defy anyone to listen to Robbie Robertson's "Somewhere Down the Crazy River" and not jump the bones of the closest person to you.
Also:
Dead Can Dance - Sanvean
Roxy Music and/or Bryan Ferry (it's the voice)
Dido's entire Life for Rent CD
Peter Gabriel - Don't Give Up
And so many more... I'm drawing a blank right now. It's 2:34am and I just worked six 11-hour days straight. I think I need to sleep... and stop thinking about songs that make me want to have sex!

Amen to Bryan Ferry, he is one sexymofo....
Portishead is good too, very moody
I don't know that I have any "regulars" that I play for sex....
Funny, sorta-related stories....
I had the radio playing when I lost my virginity in 1982, and "Stop Draggin My Heart Around" played during my first time. :-) Whenever I hear that song now, it brings back that night.
Also, the first time I ever heard Rooms on Fire on the radio before it was released I was also having sex. I immediately stopped and jumped out of bed and ran into the living room naked to turn up the volume. (How embarrassing to admit now!)

Oh, I have one more. Robbie Roberston (who I mentioned above) recorded an entire album of music heavily influenced by native music (he is part native). I don't know what it is about it - the beat, the rhythms, the vocals? - but ho-LEE! It gets you in the mood. Big time. I've succombed more times with that playing in the background than just about anything else.

I agree with the earlier mention of AC/DC Back In Black too.
If I am in a cowboy mood, Clint Black's first one works, as does Patty Loveless. And how could I forget Shelby Lynne ? What a sexy voice. Sheesh.
Oddly, I had a slow burn mindblowing session once to Sting's Nothing Like The Sun record and I don't even like Sting. Another one that works for the slow burn is Sade. That is fireplace, bottle of wine stuff.:woohoo:

pure genius. the flowy melodic rhythym of Orchid Club is amazing; must listen to it now.
The tribal drumbeats, the sounds of jungle animals, the increasing power of her voice, the way the rhythm seems to become more abrasive as it moves along, etc. Pure magic. By the time it climaxes with that incredible amalgamation of her howling & screaming & singing at the top of her lungs all in one breath, I lose it. Drives me wild.
Something In the Air is fabulous too...especially the American Psycho remix.
That's the one I generally play. I wasn't too keen on the album version after I heard it on the American Psycho soundtrack (which has "You Spin Me Round" by Dope that I also listed because it's fab).

I'm so glad I would never have sex with any of you. Very interesting choices the lot of you have.
Funny though, the original question asked what "gets you in the mood" as opposed to the common answers people gave of songs they had sex to. So which is it? There is certainly a difference.
For me brazilian music gets me going, most latin music, tango, bossa nova, samba, salsa. All that music will get me feeling real hot and ready for some action. Other honorable mentions: UB40, Prince, Crash Test Dummies, Beastie Boys and Moby.
During sex, some of the above latin will work, but I do like B-Tribe, Grant Lee Phillips, Bebel Gilberto and Sade.

Erotica by Madonna
I actualy got asked this questions once for real by this drop dead stunningly gorgeous guy.
Fact was that when we first met he was dating someone and we all went out and at the end of the evning he kissed me goodbye on the mouth. (I was frozen for 5 minutes afterwards on the dancefloor) Later on we became good friends and we decided at a point not to have sex as our relationship had devoloped to deep into the friendship stage. However sometime later we were together at a bar drinking a coke when he says out of the blue " i was in the shower this morning and realised we never had sex"
well i almost choked on my coke :D
so later that evening he (back at my place) asked me the question this thread is made of ;) so i answered Erotica
however i did not realise he also expected me to make the first move.
He is curently datting one of my other friends (thought it wouldn't last but they have been together for over 3 years, and the ironny of it all is i set them up as they got together when we were celebrating my birthday in a themepark :p
oke that story was a tad long sorry hehe
anyway i try to never do stevie or the mac cause what if the date is a flop you are constantly reminded to it by the track in question ;)

I agree with all of those, but Halo & It's No Good especially. And on one of the remix albums, there is a near heart-attack inducing version of Personal Jesus. That version changed my life one time, I swear it. I just can't remember which remix it was. ;)
In Halo, I like the music when he comes back with "Bring your chains.. Your lips of tragedy... And fall into my arms" then back to the chorus.
All of It's No Good is white-hot hot. It's understooood.

No joke. Especially after Creem had this pic of him in all of his leather gear, holding a riding crop, with the caption: "San Francisco? I dunno."

What gets you "in the mood"? :p
To be honest, I hate music during sex. I find it distracting. Much in the manner Frank Costanza dislikes tinsel on his Festivus...erm...pole?

Madonna was playing one time on iTunes while I was with my bf (I am reminded of this because the very song just came on :p ) and I ended up having to sing along and break out a few moves of my own to "Holiday." It wasnt very sexy. But it was fun! haha
this is hilarious.
it's like yeah baby that feels good, but let me vogue real quick.

You know, I like Lucinda, but her last couple of records are very downbeat and just make me depressed.

Hmm, I guess I could see that. I actually haven't listened to her much as of late. Just a few songs here and there, but I think Essence is a good sexin' song.

Yeah, to me, there's a big difference in makeout music and sex music.
And I can't do it without music. I don't really like sex noises.

1. The Theme from the Flinstones
Come on, people. Fred Flinstone had some big-ass feet. Think about it.
And, as for make-out music, I love "Hysteria" by Def Leppard. It just screams make-out song to me. I dunno.
