The thread to brag about your many abilities.
I can...
...bake awesomely good Christmas Cookies. See "Holiday baking" thread for details.
...raise one eyebrow up independently of the other. Oh, I can also wiggle my ear - now that'stalent.
...take nice photos. I'm not a pro by any means, but my subjects are centered, I don't cut heads off, I try to get nice backgrounds, etc. Friend & fam always wants copies.
...drive well in the snow. Not too fast, but not too slow either. I can drive the speed limit, keep control of the car & not slide around all over the place unlike these asses that I live near.
...keep in touch. I try really hard to stay in contact with friends & fam, even if we're miles apart & don't see eachother anymore. I think it's really important.
What can you do? :)

I can make a perfect pie crust. I finally mastered it. For some reason it helps if the water you add is ice cold.
I can flip my eyelids inside out.

I can read and write Braille. I'm working on getting transcriber's certification and I've been asked to teach a visually impaired student at my school the basics of reading it so he doesn't have to depend on large print so much.
I can communicate in basic sign language (and if she's really desperate, my mom can too).
I can teach anyone over 3 years old how to play piano.
I can navigate my way around Houston :blob1:
...and I think that's about it. I'm not even going to go into what I can't do, I'd be here all day.

Draw (Won so many stupid ass art awards as a kid that it became annoying to me) Whereas most kids drew stick figures and rainbows I drew WWII battle scenes and my teachers asked where did that influence come from...Hell if I knew, I just drew what I pictured in my mind.
Do Algebra (In my high school you had to have 4 credits of Algebra to graduate-The 4 credits had to be in either Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Algebra 3, Trigonometry, Trig 2 or Computer Science Math)
Beat anyone at "Name that Tune"....Hehehehe!!!
Be an asshole when annoyed!!!
Keep my sense of humor no matter how tragic everything in my world seems to go.

make a mean cocktail with virtually any kind of ingredient, as long as there is alcohol involved.
come up with a solution for any kind of practical problem. (You don't want to know how I hung up my drapes in the kitchen because the wall is too weak to hold a rail. ) My sister calls me McGyver sometimes.
put together *and* take apart an entire computer system in under 20 minutes. For a girl I am good with all things technology. Hah!
function properly on only a couple of hours of sleep.
decorate. I think I missed my calling as an interior designer.
listen to a song once or twice and sing along with it perfectly the third time. My mind has an endless storage capacity for lyrics and words. In highschool I only had to read a text once or twice to get an A for my exam.
play poker and actually win.
I can't think of anymore...my list for the 'I can't's' would be longer. ;)

I have to say that one was FAB as well!!!!!! :woohoo:
I went a lecture on IT the other day. It was well done, but the weirdos eventually took over the Q&A afterward with movie bashing. I get that the movie was in no way as good as the books and Jackson took many liberties to cater to the "kids," e.g. the prolonged battle scenes that took like four pages in the book - but the movies were IMO a magnificent and motly faithful homage to the books. IMO, there should have been five movies - oh alrighty 10
BTW - on topic - I CAN talk LOTR all day long.
If they still stood, may the lights of Laurelin and Telperion shine on you, filling you with bliss and wisdom

- move my eyes in different directions separately (one eye watching straight ahead, the other one at the left or right)
- hold the fingers of my left hand at a 90 degree angle in the wrong direction (backwards)
- hear pitch perfect (this can be quite annoying)
- hum/sing or play along (guitar) with a song the first time I hear it
- remember a lot of lines from star trek voyager, especially Janeway's :D
- do a pretty good Stevie whenever I have a cold
- do a lot of accents (dutch and english) (well... I bet a native english speaker would probably say I CAN'T ;) )
- tell someone to piss off, eloquently (and they don't expect it from me because I'm the quiet type) (which makes it a lot more fun)
- stand pain (especially headaches) and go on with whatever activity

Bartend (really well), if all else fails in life

Your post in the other thread isn't the first comment you've made in reference to my siggy... so I figured maybe you didn't like... er... whimsical music.Nah, it's just that instead of a generic "put on another record," I thought it was cuter to name a band that I know for a fact that you like.
I love whimsical music... for example, Todd Rundgren's "An Elpee's Worth Of Toons" is one of my all-time favorite songs (and I'm still convinced that that song, and that album, influenced L.B. more than punk music did).

Ahh, now this is more like it.
I can....
- dance pretty good. Dance was required in our drama department in high school, 'cause the teacher wanted us to be "triple threats" (although I never got the hang of the singing part)
- whip you at "Mortal Kombat". It's not much of anything to brag about, but I used to spend time perfecting the fatalities when I had nothing better to do
- play the synth/keyboards, to a fault. I've only managed to perfect the opening chords to "Seven Wonders" and Van Halen's "Jump", but it's a start.
- stay up for hours on end. Insomnia runs in the family.
- quote "Golden Girls" dialogue at will. I can't count how many times I'll be talking to someone and go "Oh that reminds me of this one episode, where Dorothy says..."
- remember really pointless facts, such as what I had for dinner on some night in 1993.
- play badminton, kinda. I suck when I first start out, but once I warm up I get pretty good at it.
- recognize just about any song after just a few bars... what can I say? I'm an audiophile.
- multi-task pretty good.
- kick some ass at Trivial Pursuit (this goes back to the "remembering random pointless facts" thing)

...tell by the way you use your walk, you're a woman's man.
...love you like that.
...smell what The Rock is cooking.
You just made me laugh pretty damn hard, my friend. Thanks!
BTW - people mentioning movies reminded me that I can recite Goodfellas line for line. I can also give a painless injection (or so I'm told.)

I can do this with any Seinfeld or Golden Girls episode .
And Jannie, I too can sing the States song! I can't believe I STILL remember that after all these years.
I can also play the keyboard, sing, speak Swedish, read Swedish, Old Norse, Danish, Norwegian, Spanish, and a little Portuguese.
I can also play a mean game of Twister

That's all. I can't do anything else. And why would I need to?

Aside from eyebrow thing? Same. Plus edit photos in Photoshop, write stuff, and make lasagna.

I can.....
Bend my fingers backwords to where my fingertips touch the backs of my hands.
Clasp my hands behind my back, and bring them over my head to the front of my without detaching them. Hard to explain, but very freakish.
wrap my legs around my neck and several other stange bendy things that I can't really explain
bite the top off of an aluminum can. Not the pop top, the whole top of the can.
I can draw a bit. there's my normal one
Oh my god, they should feature you on Letterman's "Is this Something?" sketch!

Ah... I get it now.
If I ever figure out how to use Frontpage and decide on a color/graphics scheme, I'm supposed to take over their official website.
Have played around with it a little, but I'm pretty much computer illiterate and haven't liked anything I've done so far. :(
Try Webmonkey.com for Web authoring tips if you're interested. Frontpage sucks anyway.

I think that's a pre-requisite for being a died-in-the wool fan so  to you!
My first thought, though, when I read this was: who can't?
I can...
-draw...and make a living out of it!
-bend my thumb back to touch my wrist
-name that tune. Any tune
-properly taste wine
-spot a designer fake from an original
-make my friends laugh
-rock your world;)

Great. I can only do one thing and you have to diminish it. Thanks.
hehehehe.
Actually, I've talked to some people on this very board that can't do it!

:( I'm sorry to hear about your job. That really sucks, I know the feeling. I had my hours cut big time in the fall.(down to 2 days a week) Luckily someone quit and I snatched up her position. But it was tough for a few months there. GOod luck with the job hunt!

thanks! I'm feeling tentatively positive about finding something else.. at least I got a lot of experience on this job, that 'll always look good.

You're not alone, Mari. I'm job-less on the 1st of March. Maybe it's a good thing, and I'll run into something better. Anyway, I'm not worried yet.

And I won't be in your way; I live in Haarlem
