Just posted about GYOW, in the Rumours ledge.. I said I found that song very californian becuase of what I imagin while listening that song (and actually I did it!)
I think there are several mac songs you can find for a very "californian" moment, like watching the sunset on a beach while listening Warm ways or driving fast on the freeway playing loud GYOW.. do you have other songs and moments?

Oh yes, there are several! I Don't Wanna Know, Think About Me, Say You Love Me, Dreams, Angel, Warm Ways, hell, most songs from the white Fleetwood Mac album and Rumours.

Christine was really fine tuned to the "californian" moment. I think Over My Head and You Make Loving Fun are really good examples of this.

really? I tend to think that Stevie and Lindsey brought the Californian vibe to the group - tho I will say that the two songs you list above do reflect that vibe well.

Yea it does seem to make more since that Stevie and Lindsey were in that movement more than Chris. It is funny because her roots are in the blues...but I think her amazing pop sensibility combined with Lindsey's new input really brought those "pop perfect" songs out in her.

Yeah, the single version of "Over My Head" is just the perfect soundtrack for blasting out of a white with red interior, top-down 1960 Chevy Impala convertible's radio; riding along PCH in mid-summer.
And, actually that whole "white album" works in that scenario...but, most specifically the aforementioned single.

...with the smell of salt-water & Coppertone suntan lotion wafting through the air.
Sigh...
It's my dream to one day work and live in orange county. I can't wait to blast Sara whilst driving along the shore.
All the BN stuff from the 70s definitely has that laid back California soft-rock feel to it. I love it!

I remember being at the beach when I was a a teenage surfer boy .Solano beach in San Diego to be specific and making out with a boy in his Corvette in the small hours of the morning when some girls with long wavy hair and wearing long loose skirts walked past where we were parked and down to the beach as if they were headed for some kind of ritual. The boy said to me there go some sisters of the moon .I agreed so we pulled out the tape of Tusk and played SOTM .So that to me was a really California moment .
