In four weeks it will be 2006, NINE YEARS since the Dance reunion special.
And in that time we've only seen one new studio release from the band, one new studio release from Stevie, one from Christine, and what? Two new songs from Lindsey (compilations and live albums/dvds not withstanding).
There's rumors of a Fleetwood Mac tour (possibly farewell) next year, but I haven't heard anything about a new album.
Anybody else starting to lose hope?

I'll be nice and count the two live releases (Boston and Lindsey's Soundstage). A release is a release, and they're all new performances, if not new songs. And we got three nice remasters, though most of the bonus material wasn't all that great. Still, that's a pretty paltry selection of offerings for nearly a decade. And still no Buckingham Nicks album on CD.
On the bright side, it's been a great nine years to be a fan of the early years of the band: the three Boston Tea Party sets, Vaudeville Years, Show-Biz Blues, the Blue Horizon remasters, Shrine '69... Plus the Kiln House-era Madison Blues set.

Ah yes, how can I forget those lovely remasters? Between the three of them the only highlight was "Doesn't Anything Last." What a waste of money.

The acoustic GDW, the retooled Second Hand News, and CM's stuff (all of it) was well worth it IMO.

The sound quality was pretty nice. And the bonus material on Tusk (Sara, Storms, Beautiful Child) made it worth it. Now if only they could remaster Live, Mirage, and TITN!
To add to my wish list: a DVD of the videos, Rosebud, Tusk, and Mirage Live DVDs!!!!
Pulease!
Fingers crossed for a Canadian tour date next year somewhere that I can at least drive to. I'll be a poor college kid by then

God those remasters were excellent... Maybe not so much for the white album in terms of extra material, but Rumours and Tusk.. I think they did a great job.
I think they've been doing pretty well in terms of releases since The Dance came out. Maybe not so much in "new" material, but in terms of keeping it going and keeping us interested. Maybe I don't expect too much I don't know. But I'm happy so far. I would like another album from Stevie and Lindsey and FM though if they do decide to call it a day in the near future in terms of recording.

I can take or leave almost all of the bonus material (the remixes on the white album are the only tracks that really excite me, though it is interesting to hear how a song like "I Know I'm Not Wrong" evolved through Lindsey's various demos), but the sonic upgrade as far as the remasters themselves were concerned was much appreciated, at least by me. And of course it's nice to have Tusk on CD with an unedited "Sara."

Couldn't agree with you more.
Did anyone else notice that on the White album reissue that it says "Disc 1" on the CD?!?! Were they planning on having a "Disc 2"...but switched at the last minute?

I don't know if they ever planned on a second disc, but if they did, it wasn't a "last minute" change. I think they had advertised that the white album reissue would be just one disc long before the release.

I'm just happy as a Fleetwood Mac fan that I got a chance to enjoy SYW and the tour along with Stevie's tour this year. After waiting for so long, I'[m not complaining. Although I'd like to see another album, I'm not holding out hope, We'el see what happens.

Damn, 9 years? That is hard to believe. I do think they missed the boat though...I was really expecting a new FM studio album/tour by 2000, with or without Christine. I thought SYW was amazing, but...wow, we had to wait a long time for it. Too long.
I think the momentum that they got from the Dance tour/album really only benefited Stevie. She at least stayed in the spotlight with the Enchanted box set/TISL and touring, and popping up with Sheryl Crow or wherever in the intervening years. She at least became a name again, instead of a joke. But none of the group put out as much material as they could have. It just kills me to think of what Lindsey could have done if he had released GOS in '98, like I thought he would. I was expecting a kick-ass, well received album and tour. But nope...here we are, still waiting for the solo acclaim that he deserves. Aargh!
I agree that the reissues, hands down, have been some of the best things we've gotten out of this band in a long time. I'd love to see reissues of Live, Mirage and TITN.

I really feel the same way. I never thought I'd ever get to see them perform as a band. Seeing Stevie each time is a huge thrill for me, but I was even more thrilled to see Fleetwood Mac together. Just wish Christine had been there.

You know, when I watch The Dance, it doesn't seem like it's been almost 9 years. Or ten, even. I haven't thought much about a Mac farewell tour. Although it'd be a nice little send-off, and great for those who could attend, I doubt they'd come to Canada. So... Even if they did do something, I wouldn't be able to see it. if I'm not mistaken, they didn't include anything other than US dates on the '97 tour, and only one (Toronto) show during SYW.

Well, since somebody else decided to go there...
Aren't we all better off since the "Rumours" incarnation decided to get back together in 1997? I mean, just two years earlier, you could see the band do most of the same songs, plus a few different songs, for $25. Honestly, if I were those guys, I would have let Christine retire, dump Dave Mason, hire somebody like Mick Taylor, and come up with something that was somewhere between purist country and rock. Mind you, Gram Parsons is a favorite of mine.

I believe that a number of Canadian and international dates were planned, but by the end of the US leg, Chris basically said she was tired of touring and wouldn't do anymore.

I think this latest incarnation of Fleetwood Mac's sucess is more a commentary on how well the rest of the band did than a mark against Christine.

Well, I thought the remastered Rumours & Tusk were really great (esp. No Light & that alternate of Oh Daddy.) Anyhoo...
What freaks ME out is when I think of time in comparison to other eras. Here's what I mean (I'll use 8 years since it was just over 8 years ago that I saw The Dance tour):
1975: Fleetwood Mac White Album & Tour.
8 years later, in 1983: Mirage Tour just ended, Stevie releases WH & tours
1977/78: Rumours explodes, huge long tour.
8 years later, in 1985/86: Stevie releases RAL & tours
1979/80: Tusk album & huge long tour.
8 years later, in 1987/88: TITN released, LB leaves, tour with the "new guys"
1989: Stevie releases TOSOTM & tours.
8 years later, in 1997 :The Dance CD, telecast & tour.
It just blows me away. Compare the above - Lindsey in 1975 was SO much different than Mirage era Lindsey! And look at Stevie in 89, then in 97 - holy crap!
Now, it's different somehow. I mean, I don't think there's much of a difference between the band in 1997 & the band now - obviously Chris left, but in general everything seems relatively unchanged; the music, the look, the setlists, etc. I guess it's cuz they're older, not as into fads/fashion/whatever. It's still weird.

I haven't heard anything to the contrary since the beginning of the remaster series, but WB Special Products (nee Rhino) is supposed to remaster & reissue the ENTIRE WB/Reprise catalogue. From Then Play On to Time. Instead of going in chronological order, they did the three most popular albums first.
(as I have posted here now for about the 1,000th time)
So, just take double doses of the "be patient" pills and they'll eventually hit the streets. As far as the lack of bonus tracks on the white album, Keith Olsen made some statement back when the albums were being prepared that whatever bonus tracks would go on the white album would be the same tracks that would go on the Buckingham Nicks album, so, apparently, there's still a glimmer of hope for THAT album to be released sometime, too.

2/1967: John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers (featuring Peter Green and John McVie) release "A Hard Road."
Around 8.5 years later, in 7/1975: Fleetwood Mac releases "Fleetwood Mac."

Look, smart ass...yes, there were talks of extending the f-ing Dance tour...doing Canada, playing Europe, making it a full-on world f***ing tour, but Christine flatly said "no" to anything beyond "the 40". What do you want from me? How much more clear can I make it?

According to BuckinghamNicks.net, Kiss and Run was written by Jorge Calderon who played percussion on Buckingham Nicks. I can't find anything on him being in Fritz or it being a Fritz song. I could be wrong of course...

I haven't found anything that proves he was in Fritz...but, that doesn't mean Fritz couldn't have been playing a song he wrote. Jorge WAS good friends with Warren Zevon (co-produced his final album The Wind )...maybe there was some sort of connection with Lindsey &/or Stevie during that period (since S&L eventually ended up on Warren's Asylum debut album).
Isn't Jorge also credited with playing bass on the BN album, as well?
