I thought it was "Blue Water"? Is that a different song? If it is different, post that shizz!
Blue Water - "and the sea smiles at me" and "I'd like to take you on a slow ride"
are some of the lyrics.
Not that I'm saying it's not called what you said, I just thought it was called "Blue Water" if it's the same song. :)
One of the very few non released Stevie demos that I really like. It doesn't really go anywhere, lyrically, but it sure is beautiful. And where it does go, is pretty deep.

Yes, bunny one, I am kidding you(although I seriously can't believe you don't know CW). Calm down, you get waaaay too excited.
Cool Water is a really old song. I have Marty Robbins doing it, like back in the late 50's/ early 60's. It's a Mirage outtake. The B side of GYPSY, for gawd's sake.
GYPSY. Isn't that like, your people's, calling?

Good for you, Brandon. You're way cool.

Seriously, guys, because someone doesn't know a relatively obscure B-side means they aren't a real fan? No wonder so many newbies & lurkers are terrified to post here with questions for fear of getting slammed.

Life is ephemeral, and Mac is ephemeral, and once i've seen it, i'm happy - I don't have to own it or know every detail about it - all I have to know is that it was beautiful, and that I saw it, and that therefore it is in my memory and consciousness. So it will always be there.
Shame on anyone who looks down on anyone else because they don't know that this one performance was Stevie in 1983, in butt****wherever, Oakland, Largo, My Ass - wherever - the point is that I saw it and loved it, and appreciated it or not for it's musical/skill qualities. And shame on any "fact nazis" who try to tell anyone otherwise. You're absolutely right. I have nothing but scorn for fact nazis (great phrase, btw) who rip other fans over such details (one such fact nazi used to publish a fanzine & made these deathly pronouncements that when you dared question them, you were sniveled at). What goes around, comes around; & that will bite them back. Because one thing about the Mac is that NO ONE knows it all, & any time you get to thinking that you know more than this guy or that guy, that person gets you back with something that YOU didn't know. It really bothers me when people who don't know me peg me that way because it just isn't me. We're all fans in the mishmash of Macism. To borrow from the late, great Mr. Richard Mitchell, I prefer to keep company with the askers rather than the answerers.

Yes, I don't know everything about everything Mac. Sorry I'm not such a Mac Gatherer, a Mac collector. You know why? B/C all I care about is the performances, the music.

And I don't feel the need to own anything Mac, I just want to hear and see the sublime performances, that is my passion. I don't have to own those performances, I don't have to have every detail of them - I just have to have seen them and loved them.

And don't get me wrong, I love facts. Love them. But I don't think they are necessarily the most important part of appreciating Stevie and the Mac. Fact gathering doesn't make you enjoy the performance any more. And if it does, then you aren't really enjoying the performance, you are just fact gathering. :)
Seriously, are you effing kidding me? Gosh, I hope so.

That is a pretty wonderful couple of paragraphs, and something that everybody on Internet who considers himself to be a "superfan" of any musical artist should read.

And I certainly wouldn't blame anybody for never having heard of "Cool Water." It only ever appeared as a B-side on a vinyl single in 1982, and it's never been released on CD. Seems like the kind of song that it would have made a hell of a lot of sense to include on a box set...

Oh, for Gawd's sake, then. For GAWD'S SAKE!!!!
Don't insult me and then try to intimate that I am overreacting. That is so lame. And don't tell me to calm down when you have just point blank insulted me. It's gross. Why don't you just tell me if Cool Water is the same as Blue Water? And if it's not, then maybe educate me on what Cool Water really is. How bout that? Would that be so hard? Apparently insulting me is much easier. Good for you.
Jesus, you get excited. Try cutting back on the caffeine.

Well, Homie, rock on witcho bad self, and find solace in your knowledge, because I now think you are a collossal asshole. :)
And by the way? If someone doesn't answer your Requests for Admissions, unlike other Discovery requests, in this case you file a motion to deem admitted. In all other discovery, you would file a motion to compel!
What? You didn't know that? Omigod! I can't believe that! For god's sake! It's the B side of law! I can't believe you didn't know!!!
DO I HANG OUT ON SOME LAW SITE, POSTING 15 BILLION TIMES A DAY???? CUZ I CAN TELL YOU THIS. IF I DID, I'D HAVE MORE THAN A CURSERY KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT I WAS TYPING ABOUT, OH LITIGATING ONE. Your comparison makes NO sense, since I don't hang out on a law site. SESLY!

And my point is, yes, you are an a-hole. :)
And yes, I am also a chatty cathy. Chatty Cathy and Mac Fan are not mutually exclusive personality traits. If it's possible for you to grasp that grey. You fricking moron. :wavey: And I don't say that lightly. I always liked you or gave you the BOTD until right this moment. This moment when you scoffed b/c I didn't know cool water.
See, it's just as dumb for you to scoff b/c I didn't know that song as it is for me to scoff that you didn't know about Requests for Admission. See?
Again, you're showing a real lack of logic here. You LIVE on the Ledge. I've never even been to a law site. I'd expect you to have extensive knowledge about FM. WHY would I know anything about law? There's NO logic here, and the judge knows it!

And honestly, you get waaaaaay to worked up over nothing. I refer you, to the bun.

The interesting thing is that's not like that in every forum here. Queries on the "Pre-Rumours" forum at least, are almost always greeted with helpful answers.

Blue Water is in dire need of editing. Snip, snip. It just drones on and on and on.

But parts of it are just stunning.

Cool Water is great. Nice cover that the Mac did. This is also the song that John McVie's vocals are prominently heard.

Can we just return to a conversation about the song?

I frankly don't have much to say about it. Interesting choice for them to cover to say the least. I suppose Lindsey still had his cowboy hat on from doing Shadow of the West, though.

But really, can any of you truly actually make out John's voice?

I never said she was. I meant that if it's implied that one of our regulars is not a real fan because they don't know something, then newbies/lurkers may be afraid to post with a question for fear they will be treated even worse since they are not a regular.

Well, let's use the opportunity to be inviting. Any newbies or lurkers out there: If you've got any questions about Fleetwood Mac, don't be afraid to ask them. One or two people may be rude, but most folks will be happy to answer anything you have to ask, provided they know the answer, of course.

When I downloaded this song, it was presented as a Buckingham Nicks demo. I'm guessing... that was wrong? Does anyone know when it is from? Was it a White album demo?

I don't really like getting in the middle of the drama. But for what it's worth: Amber, when I read that response to you not knowing the song "Cool Water," I didn't see it as a jab or being insulting. To me it seemed like an over-the-top joking response...like something you would say to a friend. It didn't seem mean-spirited. And for the record, Cool Water is indeed one of the most obscure songs...it's completely reasonable that it would fall through the cracks for even the most passionate of fans.
