View Full Version : Stevie vs. Lindsey - Who is better?

I personally think that Stevie is better than Lindsey. Although, Lindsey is hotter sexually and his brillliant guitar playing just slightly edges over Stevie's unique piano method.

Stevie's unique piano method.

I dunno. I have always enjoyed the "hunt and peck" keyboard styles of Stevie.

As far as who is better...

Christine McVie and Bob Welch!

Lindsey is better:
- at playing guitar
- at producing songs

Stevie is better:
- at singing
- at dancing
- at making sense in conversation (tho this is debatable)

Both are good at:
- Writing music
- Putting on a great show

That's my take.

I don't think you can compare them. They're both amazing, but very different.

But I do agree that Lindsey is hotter sexually. ;)

Nay, I make my disdain for Grace Slick quite obvious.

Warren Zevon was the best Fleetwood Mac member.

How many times do I have to say it!? The best FM member ever was Barbara Mandrel...duh!

This REALLY isn't a fair question ...

I prefer to phrase it as: "If you were going to a Mac concert, whose mic would you stand in front of, Stevie's or Lindsey's?"

.... A question I still haven't been able to answer.

lindsey has never been a great solo artist...

   You take that back!!!

 Only joking...your opinion. But I don't agree.

And I'll decline my answer to this, because I'm very definitely sure I know who is better and I'd prefer not to start anything. It's all subjective anyway.

I think Stevie is better....I like Stevie's lyrics and her whole aura. (sorry lindsey fans) my mom's bf and I think Lindsey is kinds Selfish(after watching Destiny RUles) Lindsey is a GREAT guitarist, one of the best, but his lyrics can/ sometimes are kinda mean and negative. I don;t know I fell in love with Stevie and I am a HUGE Stevie fan.....I guess its all in ur own discision and who ur musical preferences are and who u were brought up to listen too.

I think La Nicks is a far more engaging person and that shows in her music. I also think she has and is a huge talent, esp. in writing and conveying emotion, and live performing.

LB is musically brilliant, really far more than La Nicks in terms of complexity. However, he is not as engaging a person as La Nicks. Thus, her light can eclipse him and often does, which has nothing to do with LB's talent, which is huge.

Hard to answer. Actually a hard question.. Stevie is definitely a bigger STAR. But as artists.. both have their own talents.

They're both brilliant, even if among their separate musical worlds, according to my tastes, Stevie's is more nuanced, deep and intriguing than Lindsey's.

Seriously? I don't think I have to answer this.

Little Miss "I'm a Little Teapot" (see live performances of "Say You Will") does nothing for me.

Lindsey all the way. He's talented, sexy, and at times spastic (sometimes I think he suffers from adult ADHD)...

Everything Stevie is not. I like some of her songs, but overall she bores me.

hmmm...good point Amber!

I mean all one has to do is go back to Tusk and maybe the Mirage tour to see a more "spastic" Stevie...maybe it was the drugs...or maybe it was the music. But one thing Stevie is, or at least used to be, is spastic.

I personally never cared much for how many twirls she used to do and does now (I still don't understand the fascination for them), or the statistics coming from the kicks watchers, how much she jumps up and down. Mobility isn't really a key factor to judge a performance, IMO. What I look at it's the intensity and there's alot of it in Stevie performances nowadays.

and as for whose mic i'd pick... at FM shows? lindsey's. he actually pays attention to the people worshipping/salivating at his feet. but stevie's solo shows, you have to be down front.

and as for who's better... 'better' is such an ugly word.

In my opinion, that's such a subjective question, with no factual answer, just a highly personal one.

If you wanted to prompt a discussion about the various strengths and weaknesses of Stevie and Lindsey, I undertstand what you mean. But to ask "Who's better?"? That's a very devisive approach!

Miss Vicky

But to ask "Who's better?"? That's a very devisive approach!

What's the diff? The respective Buckingham and Nicks camps have been divided since before these boards were even formed. The members (past and present) of the band are so diverse in their styles that there's no way the fans will ever all agree about anything or even be amiable in their defense of their opinions.

Besides, this is a subject that we've been arguing about off and on in various threads for ages.

Lucky you! Please God when [as opposed to if] they visit our shores again, I'll have decided ... I'm thinking Lindsey at the moment. Throwing knickers at him from Stevie's mic mightn't work.

I was surprised too. Then I was sure it was just some kind of ironic parody thread, but apparently it's not that either.

No, I think it is an ironic parody, based on the fact that Tower started it. But besides that, of course people would respond. Some probably didn't know it was a parody, based on the fact that probably at least 50% of past discussions on this board have been centered around the very same question. I'm sure Towers britches are giggling right now, though.

Lindsey is a GREAT guitarist, one of the best, but his lyrics can/ sometimes are kinda mean and negative.

OMG..you're kidding me right? Stevie writes some pretty negative and cold-hearted lyrics herself there sweetheart.

"I'll follow you down till the sound of my voice will haunt you, you'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you", "did she make you cry, make you break down..shatter your illusions of love...." All of the lyrics to Planets of the Universe, All of the lyrics to Whole Lotta Trouble and so on. I just think Stevie sugar coats it a little better to make it sound all nice and peerrrty.

Anyway. To stay on topic of the thread. I love them both for different reasons. I appreciate Lindsey's brilliance on the guitar and in the studio, but there is a certain something that draws me to Stevie. Call me a chiffon-head. I don't mind ;)

What's funny is that by comparison, that seems pretty mild. I mean, it's not like he brings that up every time he plays a show or does an interview. He also admits that he was a bad guy in those days. When was the last time Stevie or Lindsey said flat out that they were jerks? Lindsey only seems to be able to admit to being a jerk after pointing out somebody else was a jerk. (i.e. when he says "Wrong" was about Mick, but honestly, it could be about anybody, including himself). Of the current lot, he's the only one who seems to have put that into perspective decades ago. By the "Tusk" tour, he and Chris were pals. While Christine was able to put THAT relationship into perspective pretty quickly, but she gets the drama queen tag with the Dennis Wilson relationship.
