My favorite is Erasmus.

Favorite person of all time? I have nooooo idea.

Right now, it's my two best friends, Brad and Lindsey. No doubt this will change, however.

I guess it's not very original, but my teacher gave me his biography when I was ten and since then he's my favourite.

Eleanor of Acquitaine.

she's my rock star. she was married to the Louis VII of france. after that went bust-o, she moved on to Henry II of england. not bad, eh? she fathered two kings (including Richard the Lion-Hearted) and is credited with furthering the troubador movement in french culture. i think i love her.

wow - this is a deep question...I have no idea really how to answer, BUT

I have always respected and admired Patti Labelle. She is (or at least seems) to be deeply caring about people in general. She doesn't what color you are, how rich you are, your sexuality or anything, she just appreciates people and has lots of great life experience that she shares. I loved reading her book Don't Block the Blessings. Not to mention she is fierce. She's no Ghandi, but I really admire her.

Joey Heatherton.

How could you ? Lola Falana has made a far greater contribution to the history of the world. Compared to Joey, she really had an immeasurable impact on human events and the course of millions of lives !
How can you even consider Joey above Lola ?

I'd have to say mom. I'm sure there have been greater people in history, but will they post bail?

Lola Falana became an evangelist, sure, and she'll always be remembered for that one performance of "Whatever Lola Wants, Lola Gets" that helped to bring down the Berlin Wall, but don't misunderestimate Heatherton, boy. With all the cocaine she bought & consumed, she helped to put a roof over the heads of thousands of little Colombian children who would have died, cold & hungry, without the proceeds generated by her hungry nostrils. Helping the children trumps everything. Always will.

Joey Heatherton: She did it for the kids.

You have some valid points, but the same could be said for Stevie re: the Colombian children. You perhaps discount the fact that Lola perhaps singlehandedly created an industry - who preceded her in the copious use of glitter eye shadow ? Hmm ? And just think of the sequin factories. So many families fed and clothed by the boom she created in both those markets. I think her performances may also have contributed to the distinct decrease in aggression from Castro. He was a big fan, you know.

Yeah, those are also valid points, but you're also forgetting about Heatherton's USO tours of Vietnam. Can Miss Lola claim that she helped to spread democracy and stamp out the evils of communism? I don't think so. All she's got is her God & her glitter & her big eyelashes that were an obvious rip-off of Tammy Faye's oh so endearing style. Lord only knows how many Catholic's she alienated when she stole from Tammy Faye. Sure, she gave the fags yet another idol for the time being, but surely you wouldn't call someone who aped part of their look from Tammy Faye your "favorite person." And don't forget that Heatherton also chose to go anorexic for a time. Just think of all the food that went to the homeless & the needy & the poor children instead of being ingested by her little self. That woman is all about giving and sharing the love.

I met Patti Labelle!!! I used to work for Marriott, I was a food and beverage manager. Anyway, she ordered room service and about 10 of us went up to deliver it (ha). She wouldn't come to the door because, "I don't have my face on!" When she came downstairs through the lobby, she was dazzling. She was considered to be a "good" celebrity guest; meaning, she wasn't overly demanding or messy. She was very sweet and funny.

at age 35 I now have neither parent, no grand-parents (Lost both Grand-Fathers and my Father within a 7 month period in 1977) so I am not a particular holiday person...Not depressed during the holidays, just unconcerned.

But I have Deb, my siblings and their families & my cats/music (My cats must have been metalheads in their past lives because they like to lay on the waterbed when I play the brutal metal music I live for) so I do fine.

but I hate that you are so sad ---estranged one....

I am sorry that members of your family have left you before you were ready for them to leave....but , as Emily Dickenson said:
"Although I could not stop for death, He kndly stopped for me"...

You have my sincerest wishes for tranquil days/nights,
to get through this holiday without your Mom ( and all the others that matter to you)

Feel better, and know that there are people (even here, that have never seen your face,) that care about you and the difficult and emotional days ahead:xoxo:
