In honor of the fact that i've just survived writing my 46 page research paper (complete with 135 surveys, tally sheets, the lot) and will never have to take a course with this woman again, i'm treating myself to a far less difficult semester and taking two music courses and two communication courses (I declared vocal music as my minor :blob1: ) comes Spring. What are you all doing next semester?

I am out of college
However, I am still in school...
I am the Secretary to the Principal of an elementary school..in a small town in the woods of New Hampshire.
Enjoying my 4 days off for Thanksgiving...which is Thanksgiving enough...
But I think for the next course of classes, I may pursue Spanish...
but then again, I may also just come home at the end of the day... and drink Fabulous wine, eat Fabulous food and spend time with my Fabulous husband... or take Spanish classes?....
The scales of my weighty decision,? they just keep going back and forth
We'll see
enjoy the music- How can you not really??
hugs,

I am not in school but I am thinking about taking a few computer classes at a local college next semester. I took some classes back in 2001 and I would really like to get just a certificate but I am not sure if it is in the cards for me.

No hablo espanol  Lord, was I was horrible. Much better at French because the verbs weren't nearly as crazy so if you can master Spanish, thumbs up to you. Of course, when you add all the fabulousness, it doesn't sound like Spanish classes would be all that great
Yep, History of Jazz and History of Music and the Stage. Then, theory and vocal like crazy come the fall. I'm stoked

I belong to a photography club. It is not really a class but just a bunch of people who get together and talk about photography. I really want to take a few desktop publishing and computer classes but like I said I don't know if it is in the cards.
It all depends ironically if I do end up getting the computer room job. This job was posted back on Columbus Day week and we still don't what is going on with it.

Amber, what is Psych 26?
Applied Psychology:
Critical exploration of psychological theory and research as it applies to everyday goals and concerns. Emphasis on self awareness, personal growth, and social relationships through examination of such topics as personality development, identity and self-esteem, motivation and personal control, emotions, communication skills, relationship success, career satisfaction, stress management, psychological disorders, and healthy living.
It's a requirement for my major.

Thanks, Jannie. This will probably be my easiest class of all, though. And/or my most interesting. It's the only non law class I get to take. I find psych pretty interesting, too.
Why don't any lawyers ever offer to help me with my homework???

Dissention, find a French Conversation class... They helped me sooo much with my languages! And are fun too!
No longer in school here either, but in the school-of-life class of learning how to be a mom and taking care of our infant son with colic, and man! Is that ever harder than any course I ever took! :(

hey hil, i have like four dozen books on the holocaust if you need any recs.
i'm a history freak, though i prefer medieval british history. love it. i loved researching and writing my thesis. i defended Henry II's motives in issuing the Constitution of Clarendon. all church stuff. i got super obsessed.

Meh, all you really need to know is:
-Je m'apelle (your name here)
-Ou est le (destination of choice)
-vin (wine)
-haute couture
There, I just save you a LOT of argent ($).
I graduated from Art College back in '99 majoring in Visual Communications but I'm now taking distance education to become an Accredited Jeweller from the Gemological Institute of America (ooh la la!). My next exam is in Coloured Stones followed by the Diamond course. A little anxiety over that but I'm actually really exited about that.

well, I dropped out of grad school. sad, yes, but very true.
mainly because I was attending a private Christian college (there is only one public university here and it sucks) and every class was either a gay bashing or some other offensive discussion where they pulled out the bible and showed how Shakespeare is similar to the bible and blah blah blah and I got freakin tired of hearing it...so no school for me
I'm trying to decide what to do next, if anything

I went back to college when I was 28 and finished last year when I was 36. Late bloomer, and all. Take a couple of classes that seem interesting and go from there. I always knew what I wanted, I just didn't think I was smart enough to do it. I graduated with a 3.8 while working full-time! The feeling of pride and accomplishment were worth every year of tears and exhaustion. Now I just have to get myself pumped up for graduate school. :|

Med-Surg.
All hodge-podge. All the time.
I do enjoy it, but it is stressful at times. 12 to 16 hour shifts don't help much, either.

But you are! I was a horrible student in High School. For me, what I lacked in intelligence, I made up for in determination. I don't think college is for everyone. I don't think anyone is less of a person for not doing it. But if the desire is there for you, you should give it a try. You may surprise yourself. :)

This is going to sound silly, but something that helped me was these strange aptitude tests I took in High School. They tested your actual intelligence skills and your interests and spit out possible jobs. There must be something on the internet now that approximates this. The ones I took told me to be a writer, a forest ranger, or an entertainer ! What a combo. Interestingly enough, I have ended up doing a bit of all three.
My best advice - pursue what you love and what doesn't feel like drudgery.
If you can choose a career that brings you joy - it doesn't seem like work.
Also, one very wise person told me the following things when I was 19 and undecided :
1) Pursue what you resist (you resist out of fear, and you usually fear failing at something you love)
2) Your greatest strength is your greatest weakness. And vice versa.
You will be lead to your thing. The same person told me that when the student is ready, the teacher will appear.

I'm going to start with a course in accounting, january next year. I know, doesn't sound as interesting, and it's not what I thought I'd ever do ten years ago. But it will improve my job opportunities.
Last time I tried a course was two years ago, which was a home course to become an English translator, but I had to give that up due to health problems. I was pretty sick from bad meds & epilepsy back then, it ruins your concentration, memory etc. That was quite frustrating to find out I've my limits, not good for your self esteem, really.
So it means a lot to me that I'm trying something new again :)
ah, thanks for editing, that does make it a bit more readible ;)
uhm, translation fault? I'm not becoming an accountant (ew.) (People in suits, to name one thing) I do the complete administration for a painters company (better). (I can wear my jeans all summer long.. eh, where did that come from?)
This diploma is in bookkeeping and setting up an administration, so you can show with that little paper that you're able to do what I'm doing now anyway, trained on the job.
I like it here in spite of what I expected of it years ago. It's more than just plain boring numbers. It's a temp job though, and I can't be sure about a contract here. If I want to improve chances for another job, I need that diploma.
But yeah, I do work mainly for money, and I do that course so I'll have some more security about money, maybe a better wage, maybe fewer hours then, maybe maybe.. I could take classes at the university again in that spare time. Future games. Hm, history, or religion sciences, something like that..
Other future games: buying a house here in Groningen with a garden so I can let the cats out before they completely ruin my furniture :D
And thank you for calling me smart, I love hearing things like that :p
Likewise.
Can't say I believe much in astrology, I always seem to have personality traits of any of 'em, but I don't like boring jobs, really.
uh.. but sometimes what?

Actually, Senior Seminar was my favorite class. The subjects we researched and presented were really interesting. I did mine on Dissociative Identity Disorder. Basically, you have to find every bit of research out there on your topic, write your paper defining both sides, then pick your stance. The presentation itself is only about an hour, with another hour of Q&A.

I think thats me. I'll make up for it in determination. See, I work for a great company, and I make great money for being just a HS graduate. But no one thought I would amount to ****. So, I've done pretty well for myself so far, but it was determination and persistance that landed me this job. Now, I just need to do something else with it.
Also, one very wise person told me the following things when I was 19 and undecided :

This is great advice. Pursue what you resist: that is interesting. I resist math, but I feel if maybe I try it, I would be great at it and would love it. I'm pretty anal retentive, so maybe I would make a good accountant?! hahaha.

You know.. sometimes I just don't know what to make of your posts at all. Really.
I mean, what was ass-like about that post? I thought most of it was nice, basically. And if your intent was to be an ass, then why be so secretly about it? Take this from an experienced troll: don't be ashamed of your posts, or just don't post at all.
