I'm thinking of those people who dislike or despise "Soul Drifter". What is that about?
I was just watching the video to avoid doing schoolwork and my brother wound up watching it as well. He gave it his standard look of disapproval and asked, "Does this redeem itself at any point?"
What exactly is so annoying about "Soul Drifter?" I'm curious now.

It's just a fairly boring song. Maybe it's the constant stop and go of the singing. "My heart. Was broken. My part. Was spoken. Now the ground. Has opened. All. Around me. I'm a soul. Lifter. Da da da. Da da da." I forget now.

What exactly is so annoying about "Soul Drifter?" I'm curious now.Soul Drifter is the best thing on that album. Trust me.

I've always liked "Soul Drifter," but I still admit, the production, vocal and lyrics are all pretty schlocky, MOR, "adult contemporary" stuff. If the song were by anybody else, I'd probably roll my eyes at it pretty dramatically.

It's a bit bland and shiny for my liking.
Plus it sounds like it has fake bongos on it from an old casio keyboard (for a sprightly, tropical 80s sound - shame it came out in 1992)
Also Lindsey was using his rhyming dictionary for this one too. :distress:
I still wish OOTC had real drums...

What about that subjectivity discussion we had a few months ago or so. ;)Do as I say, Hillary, not as I do.

I've said it before and I say it again: "Soul Drifter" should've been Sinatra's swan song.

Apart from anything else he's gorgeous in the video ... ;)

yeah, I like it okay, but the melody is pretty cheesy. Now that I'm thinking about it it kind of reminds me of the song from those "my buddy" commercials, too.

OMG he is so hot in that video!!!!!!
That is all.
Really? I'm all about Tusk Lindsey. I never found him as attractive as everyone else on this board, but Tusk Lindsey? Was hot. Oh, so hot. He was too gaunt looking during the OotC period.
To answer your question, I don't get the dislike for Soul Drifter. It's not his best (or even one of the best songs on the album), but it's inoffensive enough and the lyric "My heart was broken, my part was spoken, now the ground has opened all around me" is a favorite of mine.

But Tusk Lindsey isn't gaunt?
Not like OotC Lindsey. Tusk Lindsey was undeniably sexy. OotC Lindsey was just...hollow-faced.
Whatever the case, I think OOTC and Tusk Lindsey are hot. The only time Lindsey is not totally hot to me is when he has all kinds of facial hair. I just don't like it on him.
No argument from me on that. Blech.
I love those lines too. :)

Tusk Lindsey was HOT...and OOTC was too skinny. There are certain pics where he's hot during the OOTC era, but for the most part, I don't care for that look.
Soul Drifter is one of my fave songs on OOTC...and I would like it played at my funeral. :)

you ask that, where i am asking 'how long would it take to get those off, would the buttons be difficult?'

I like Souldrifter alot. The video has a ton of stuff going on in it. That one and Slow Dancing are Lindsey's most creative and intriguing videos, IMO.
Tusk Lindsey was hot as Hell but I also adore Mirage dvd Lindsey with the hat and Dance Lindsey. Yum.
Hil, I like Soul Drifter. Granted, it isn't a personal favorite, but it is a pretty little song that I certainly feel no disgust towards. I mean, anything on OoTC is smoking, in my book.
I read somewhere that Soul Drifter was his mother's favorite song off of the album. Maybe that's why he chose it as a single, you know. Send out a little love to ma.
Oh, "Tusk" Lindsey is really, really gorgeous. I think that's my favorite Lindsey...but I also think OoTC Lindsey is handsome (I personally think he's just as gaunt in both periods). And "Dance" Lindsey is hot, as well as "Tango in the Night" Lindsey in the Seven Wonders and Little Lies vids...and, hell, I even think "Say You Will"/Soundstage Lindsey are up there with the best of the Lindseys...really, they are all great (except for the Lindsey with the hideous 15-foot long fro and eyeliner. Me no like.:distress: )

But Mick's asking, "Will there be time for my Carmen Miranda number?"

What poor people, all. My God.For me, Lindsey was at his hottest during the latter days of the white album tour and throughout the 'Rumours' era.
He's too effete looking for me during the 'Tusk' era, and never really regained that 'Rumours' era level of hotness. Though he is pretty foxy these days.
As for "Soul Drifter"... it's definitely a favorite. Especially the radio remix (even if it does sound a tad dated now).

Mirage Lindsey is one of my favs. I really don't care for Tusk Lindsey at all. I would have to say that Mirage through Go Insane was my fav LB era however I can do without the Kramer hair. He looks mighty fine now, too.;)
Now as for Souldrifter it is not a fav of mine at all but I do like the title.

Tusk Lindsey?
*honestly shocked*
You have GOT to be joking....
Tip-top of my list is Tango. Sex on legs. But OOTC is a close second. We like gaunt around here! Then the Dance.
But Tusk ... comes somewhere just above the Afro ... as in just above the bottom.
What are you thinking?!!

I still wish ____ had real drums...
There are a LOT of albums that the blank could be filled in with. OotC is definitely one of 'em...Rick Vito's King Of Hearts is another. And Dave Mason's Two Hearts is yet another.
I still believe that Lindsey was almost completely finished with his third solo album when Fleetwood Mac came calling for Tango; or at least had a clear sonic vision of how he wanted each song on the album to sound.
Just think about the songs that he used for Tango and the songs he probably wrote to replace them with come time for OotC. "Soul Drifter" seemingly was his replacement for "You & I, Part 2". "Doing What I Can" was his replacement for "Big Love"..."This Is The Time" replaced "Caroline"..."Surrender The Rain" replaced "Family Man".
