View Full Version : If I were mega-super-rich....

If you were an actor, athlete, rock star, won the mega-lotto, or whatevah... what crazy thing would you splurge on? Or, would you be more stingy with your $$$$?
I'd buy homes in London, Colorado and here (maybe. LOL). As for something crazy, I'm super stingy with money, so I'm not sure if I'd blow my money on something ridiculous...although, I've never been in that situation, so I might lose my mind.
I love castles, so I might try to buy one. LOL
I would travel around the world in my own plane, perhaps. Going to Italy, Switzerland, Hawaii, Alaska, Africa, Australia, France, Germany, etc. would be awesome. :)

Helicopter. I'd go helicoptering all the time. In all different countries. All round the world.

And of course I would be donating money to charities but that's a given and you asked what we'd be splurging on so I assume we're talking about the selfish things mostly. :woohoo:
Yeah, I'm sure many of us would give to various favorite charities. :)

I would splurge on real estate, I think. I'd have fabulous houses all over the place. And I would travel a lot. :)

I think I would try my best not to be selfish with it. If I won the $50 million lotto, lets say, I'd probably keep half for myself and use the rest to take care of my family and friends...then give a sizable chunk to Red Cross or something of that nature. I dont think I would be happy if I did otherwise. I would want to see other people I care about benefit from it and not have to worry about, say, working the rest of their lives.

I'd totally be stingy with it. I'd pay off all my debts, quit my job, and go hosteling in Europe. And no one would ever know I had money.

Yep, when people find out you have money, that's when they are your second cousin, twice removed.

11-22-2005, 07:33 PM
After completely paying off my debts...with the pittance I'd have left over, I would splurge on musical instruments/recording equipment, raising dogs (rotties, especially), houses, & fitness equipment (treadmills, weight machines, etc)...and I'd have one helluva fast PC with the most ultimately fast IP and the largest hard drive capacity & RAM available.
Oh, and I'd have killer home theatre equipment in just about every room (except bathrooms), too.
ANNNNNNND, travel, travel, travel.

Money can destroy more than you realize. :distress:
But, in a perfect world, I'd finally send my dad to Australia, his long time wish. I'd get myself a new car, since I think I really deserve one after riding this Rust!Monster for the last two years. I'd buy myself a house someplace warm, and an apartment in New York. I'd also build a house here in the Netherlands, where I can live with my 15 year old almost-sister, since she has to live with foster parents after her mother died last May. I'd give my (real) sister whatever she wanted (which would probably be more plane tickets to LA to visit with her CSI set friends  ). After all that was done, I'd travel, travel, travel and travel some more.
Heck, if it were possible, I'd buy Stevie Nicks, but I think I will probably have a much bigger chance buying Mick.

Now there's an idea.
I would...
-Pay off my parents, grandmother, boyfriend and my debt.
-New cars for all of the above.
-Land with new homes for all of the above.
-Rental properties to pay the bills for all of the above.
-I would set aside college money for my baby.
-Buy a home next to Stevie and even though I'd be rich I would have to constantly ask for a cup of sugar.
-Travel, Travel, Travel.
-Build a shelter for troubled teens.
-Help out my best friend and her family.
Boy, I could keep going. I guess when your poor you think alot about those things. :o
Brit
Of course I'd like to do all the things that everyone typically would want to do, pay off my and my parents mortgage and bills, travel, donate to charities (particularely the children's hospital), but then....
I would LOVE to have my own jewellery store, high end of course. I currently work for one where I design a lot of the inventory and the owners are profiting off of my hard work. I would just love to be doing this on my own. Sigh. One day...

That's exactly what I'd do! On the real estate front, I'd start with a villa in Italy.
Oh, and shoes. I'd buy lots and lots of shoes!

I wouldn't live much differently. To be honest, I don't want that much more than I have, materially. I'd pay off the mortgage. Change a few things in my house. I'd help a few friends with some things, but not too much as I know how money can poison and kill the closest of relationships. And I'd support some charities too. I would still work at the same job. I like my job. There are a few creative things I would do too. Buy more properties. Fix them up the right way. That's it.

If I were mega super rich...
I'd buy a big ol' house and install an indoor pool, a bowling alley, and a movie theater.
Then I'd probably set aside a portion of the house and dedicate it to starting my own rat rescue, 'cause I'm just that weird.

in a year or so after the negligent death lawsuit (I dont give a **** about $$$$, I just want justice and answers in regards to how a major hospital can utterly screwup a surgery).
Only thing I plan to do when we win the lawsuit is move closer to OKC (But yet stay in a small rural area) and buy more music. Wont waste money on anything else (I tend to keep everything simple as hell).

-Buy an Audi
-Buy a loft in Paris

-Buy an apartment in Toronto (I love it there)
-Donate to diabetes research (my father and uncle are diabetics)
-Travel like crazy
etc. etc. etc.

I wouldn't want to live much differently, but if I came into a real ****load of money, I'd like to:
-Open a homeless shelter
-Buy an apartment (I don't do houses)
-Pay off my mother's mortgage and bills
-Donate a lot of money to animal charities and the Green party
-Live in India for some time
-Buy my Saffron a diamond-studded collar that would make Tinkerbell weep
And that's all I can think of at the moment.

I want own my own music store that caters/services all styles of music (Even those I dislike), and have employees who know who/what/when in regards to artists when they are asked for assistance instead of give you that dreaded opposum in the headlight glare look they always do (Or they give you a look like you just asked a question in Chinese Mandarin).

I bet he can be bought...but how will Saffron feel when she sees Anderson Cooper wearing her diamond studded collar?
pay of debts, buy houses, travel.. (but in luxury, hah! I could never get decent sleep in those hostels)
Set up an independent record label and booking agency for all the good bands that have no chance because of the monopoly's in that world. Who wants to be the talent scout?

Nice!
I would pay off family members' debts/mortgages.
I would buy a new house - nothing too spectacular, just a bit bigger than where I live now with some land, more rural, nicer kitchen, new appliances, a hot tub.
I would buy an apartment in Blugaria so I could visit my family any time I wanted to.
I would travel a lot - Bulgaria every year plus I'd love to visit Hawaii, Italy, Australia, Alaska.
I would invest a lot of it to make sure my future kids (if there are any) would be set up for college.
I would donate to charity.

Hey, did your sister go with a friend out to Las Vegas and then LA and get on the set and hang out for a couple of days? I read two girls posting pictures and stories from being on the set in Vegas & LA on my favorite geeky CSI forum a few months ago.
I'd pay off all my student loans, all my parents' bills, hire the best lawyer money can be for my idiot brother, buy them a house, buy me a house. Go to Best Buy and load up ninety-four carts with everything I've ever wanted. Then I'd be good.

A townhouse in Manhattan - maybe this one http://corcoran.com/property/listing.aspx?Region=NYC&ListingID=816145
Have LOTS of staff to do the stuff I hate doing
Open a food and medical place for the poor
Employ street people to pick up trash and do other stuff that no one else wants to do but should be done.
Stay in as many luxury hotels as possible in a year
For this, I will need a billion - at least

I would also have a giant, giant animal rescue place. Giant. I'd buy hugenormous chunks of the rainforest, too, and bunches of other land, specifically so that it could not be developed or cut down or anything. Because oxygen is a good thing. I'd probably try to do something about birth control in Africa, even though I don't like to help human charities. Maybe some other stuff there, too, that place is a cesspit. :)

Travel would be top of my list if I had mega bucks! There are so many places in the world that I would like to see. I'd have a home here and then other homes dotted around the globe!
Then I would buy houses/ pay of mortgages for my fmily and close friends. Oh and I'd take my Nan to Graceland!

Hmm, this is actually something I've thought of before, lol. Just to name a few of the top of my head....
First of all, I would buy homes in NYC, San Diego and Seattle (why? I just like it there, lol), but I would be sure to still have a house here since it's where I've grown up. Secondly, every synth/keyboard I've ever wanted would be mine. DX7, Prophet-5, OB-8, you name it.
Third, I would definitely want to do some traveling, mostly just to see more places but also so I could fly to see all my friends that I've met online. And of course, the much-necessary shopping sprees, but of course.

once the legal BS is decided and finished in regards to my Mother's death I am gonna go to OKC and drive to 89th & Western and see who actually owns Happy Days Records and see if they would like to sell their store...
I can always use 10000's of vinyl LP's to fill in the gaps on my music collection.
all the same
11-27-2005, 10:36 PM
wellllll... i'd like to fly across the world in a golden ball, but unlike Stevie, i'd see ALL the cities! world travel. totally! and i'd like to have a few small, modest homes, like one in florence, one in barcelona, a flat in london, montreal. that'd be tits!
i'd also love to allow my parents to retire. they really need it! and i'd finish paying for my sister's school, maybe put together an education fund for my niece and nephews. and i'd love to be able to buy random expensive gifts for my friends. like an iPod nano for whoever wanted one! i've always said that i'd like to have the money to do little things like that!
the rest would go to rent boys. rent boys from around the world!

Well, this ain't crazy, but I would first pay off my student loans. That's a small fortune indeed. Then I'd buy a nice, modest (but fabulous of course) house and a new car, ours is on its last leg.
