So, I'm in the works for a nose job and heard recently that it could change the tonality, quality and a slew of other things about my voice. Not that I expect to be discovered or anything, but I really don't want my voice harmed in any way b/c of the nose job (just in case) :). Anyone got facts or opinions on this?

no, but I've always hated my nose and always wanted it "fixed" - I love it from the front, but my nose ruins my profile.

I don't know if you know who Connie Francis is but her voice completely changed after a botched nose job.

I've heard it can change your voice. Also, my mom had one and it changed her smile.

Cher's had her nose and everything else done and her voice doesn't seem to have changed all that much.

no facts, but my opinion is...
you don't need a nose job - what - do you have that tiny bump? No one cares. I thought your nose was cute. And if it looks good from the front, you're golden. (strangely, my nose looks better from the side. But this isn't about me.)
You should save that surgery money for some more important surgery!!! (I, myself, will be heading to Botoxville soon).
Also - you say you don't want to be discovered, but I think you do. You've tried out for AI, twice? And you were all excited about working with that producer, and you sing all the time. Lets not kid ourselves, mmkay?
I think you should wait another year or so at least. :) Sometimes we gain perspective over time...

My nose looks better from the side too. I kind of want a nose job, but I'm too scared I wouldn't like it.

I would rather look like me than look like some kind of bad surgery. No matter how skinny my nose comes out!!! Sesly, I hate when people look fake. I've decided, also, that I want Sharon Stone's surgeon when I get my boobs done, and Stevie's surgeon for my face. But this isn't about me....:p

Sharon Stone has NOT had surgery !
That has to be my 2nd favorite lawsuit ever. After, of course, Liberace's suit from many years ago when he sued the UK paper for implying he was gay and WON !

Hm, it seems as though I've heard that nose jobs definitely can effect (affect? Gah!) your voice. Babs, Celine, and Bette come to mind.
And Amber, I am all about some Botox. I wish I had the extra cash and the balls to do it. I think it would take years off my appearance, seriously. It seems like that's the only area of my face (in between eyebrows I have a huge FURROW) that has truly aged. Sigh.

Yeah, you still sound Canadian, eh?
I never knew you had a nose job!
BTW, Jaz (that's my new nickname for you, I just decided) I don't think you should chance it. JMO. You have an incredible gift and I wouldn't risk losing it for anything.

I think you look great right now, Jason. You'll make the right decision, whatever that may be. I am just skeptical of nose jobs because of my mom's. She had the first one done, and her surgeon was very conservative, and it looked great. Very subtle and did not look "done." However, she still wanted to go smaller, and so she had a second one. This time, they took too much. They also said her nose was off center, so they broke her nose and positioned it "center." That totally changed the look of her face, especially her smile. :distress: I think less is more when it comes to plastic surgery.

OMG that scares the ****take out of me. I have seen my doctor's work and it looks very very good, but that still doesn't mean he wouldn't screw me up.
and thanks for the boost of confidence...

When I was younger I obsessed about getting my nose done but I don't think I would. It has a ball on the end of it. I also do not like my profile since it is all nose. I told this to my friends once though and they said I was nuts. I think we are most critical with ourselves. I suppose if I were famous I would have it done but since I'm a regular person, I don't need it.
The ass is an entirely different story. ;)
On edit: I don't see anything wrong with your nose either, "Jaz".

Ladies, please...pleeeeeeeease don't go to Botoxville. A girlfriend of mine, who is at the ripe old age of 28 has been getting Botox for a couple of years now and GET THIS: Once you start, you can't stop. Ever. I can always tell when her 6 months are up and she's due for her next injection because the skin around her eyes looks like crepe paper. Soooooo gross. She has the eyes of a 45 yr old once the **** wears off.
I don't recall seeing a pic of Janet (tho I'm sure you're foxy), but Amber, you're MEGA cute and you don't need crepe paper eyes, mkay?

Sigh. Okay, that scared me sufficiently. xoxo (But it would do that even in the space on my forehead, between my eyebrows???

Yes, my dear, even in the space between your eyebrows. Crinkle-face! Gawd, you should see it on this girl and EVERYONE notices it. You really can never ever stop and if you start now, every 6 months for the rest of your life is damn expensive.
If your feeling a little down on your appearance, buy yourself a fab little unneccesary present - works for me!!

I've used botox since about 1999-2000. I love it. I also love the way it makes me look. I usually go in every six months or so and have my glabella (forehead) and crows feet done. It doesn't hurt a bit and I have a really good nurse who I trust.
I also plan on aging gracefully with some help. If time and circumstance allow, I will fix a few more things. That's what works for me. :)
I also have to present a certain image to my clients. So that's part of it too. I say if it makes you happy, then go for it.
I don't see anything wrong with your nose Jason. Just do your homework and research your doc thoroughly if you plan on going ahead with it. Just don't go all Michael Jackson on us.

Ya, I did  but I still hate it. It's still big. But I guess underkill is better then overkill (Micheal Jackson comes to mind )
