I bought a DVD called Lindsey Buckingham Soundstage a few weeks ago.
As for books I bought 'The Photographer's Manual" by John Freeman (it was $5.99) and 'Providence" with photos by a local photographer Richard Benjamin. I had the book autographed by him, too. I got them at Borders last week.

Books: Haven't been buying too many of these lately, although I did procure the complete original works of Christoph Wieland, which are keeping me plenty occupied these days.
CDs: The most wonderful CD I purchased recently is a new album from Bettye LaVette called I've Got My Own Hell To Raise. Bettye has been a soul singer for decades now, but she never really broke it big or got incredibly famous like so many other of her contemporaries. This disc is just stunning, though. It's all covers of songs written by women, ladies as diverse as Sinead O'Connor ("I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got") and Lucinda Williams ("Joy") and Aimee Mann ("How Am I Different") and Fiona Apple ("Sleep To Dream"). And while that might make it sound like this album is all over the place genre-wise, it's not: this is just straight-up, down-and-dirty soul. Bettye's got a voice that could stop time, and her band is mercilessly tight. If anybody wants me to post any songs from this, just say the word...
DVDs: Only DVDs I've bought recently came in the new 30th anniversary Born To Run box set. There's a documentary about the making of the album and, more importantly, a complete concert from the Hammersmith Odeon on the Born to Run tour (it had originally been filmed for television, I think, but never aired). There's been discussion of careless and sloppy editing in Fleetwood Mac's concert films over in the Rumours forum, and if you want the polar opposite of a Fleetwood Mac concert DVD, this is it. To put together this DVD, Thom Zimny was handed a reel of audio, and a bunch of silent film reels, all of which included various segments of the concert from different cameras. Zimny had to go through and try to match up all of the different bits of video footage with the audio and create a suitable concert film. It was an absolutely painstaking process, and the result is probably the best concert film I've ever seen. Of course, it helps that the performance goes to 11, and it really helps when your setlist looks something like this:
Thunder Road / Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out / Spirit In The Night / Lost In The Flood / She's The One / Born To Run / The E Street Shuffle / It's Hard To Be A Saint In The City / Backstreets / Kitty's Back / Jungleland / Rosalita // 4th Of July, Asbury Park (Sandy) / "Detroit Medley" (Devil With A Blue Dress/Good Golly, Miss Molly/C.C. Rider/Jenny Jenny) // For You / Quarter To Three
Anybody who ever thought that they didn't really care for Springsteen needs to see this DVD.

please do. she sounds a lot like one of my favorites, Denise LaSalle. I'd be interested to Ms. LaVette.
(interesting that my fav and your fav both have the "La" last name thing going)

You got it. It's incredibly difficult to pick just a couple of tracks from this album (I'm already second-guessing my choices), but I think I'm going to post two songs I didn't mention in my post.
First up, an absolutely smoldering take on Dolly Parton's "Little Sparrow": http://s62.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0UACDSOK3WM4S0DYPO3TTPU6RN
And "The High Road," a beautiful ballad written expressly for Bettye by Sharon Robinson: http://s56.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3K606SFMB6DKG1HVIWY8UTWV2Z
And, since I can't pick just two, here's the Aimee Mann song, too: http://s56.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2O5TU6HGB7UT025QFXW9I4X209
