Bonnie Raitt. I love her and I never liked Eric Clapton.
The unique sounds of Andre 3000 and Big Boi beat out Eminem and Kanye West in the Rap-Off.
Or rather, "the unique combination of people not liking Kanye and Eminem and voting for Outkast by default."
As for this round... shoot. I'm gonna have to think about this for a while and get back to you.

And Bonnie has better hair.
Yep. She has better hair and a better voice, IMO.
Yeah well, rap isn't exactly a big fave on this board. I don't think Outkast are undeserving though.
Oh yeah, I realize that. And I do like Outkast, and I'm disappointed that they're new album has been pushed back to next year. And even if my choice (Kanye) had won, I don't have any illusions that he wouldn't have been stomped in round two by absolutely anybody he was put up against. But it was a lovely throwaway round for the few of us who were interested by it, so thank you for indluging us. (Same commentary applies to the future Nick Cave/Tom Waits round. Don't matter who wins that one - they won't be making it to round three. But I'm still looking forward to it!)
I'm still thinking about this round, though...
And also thinking about who's going to win the whole thing... I think I've got a pretty good idea.

And Bonnie has better hair.
Eh. Eric is a better guitarist. But hair is important. :p
No worries. I'm thinking of doing another rap round with the Beasties vs Public Enemy vs Run DMC. Might be interesting.
Ooh, throw NWA in there, too, for good measure!
What do you think if I put Leonard Cohen up against Tom Waits and Nick Cave?
Yes! And I am ashamed of myself for never thinking of Cohen. He's a great match for both of them.

Oh cruel! I love all three of them, and for totally different reasons. AAAAAh! How will I choose?

TrackAGhost...you're killing me. Tough rounds recently. I like both Eric Clapton and Bonnie Raitt...but I sure have more of Bonnie Raitt in my collection...so I should simply lean with her for that.
But then...Layla...Cocaine...Let It Grow...Wonderful Tonight...After Midnight. I treasure these Clapton songs.
Now I'm just confused and must end this post and vote later.

Precisely. I've just always found him to be incredibly boring. Not to mentiont hat my mother drove me ****ing batty with the soundtract to "Rush" just like she did with the bloody Eagles while i was growing up. I won't comment on his guitar playing because I'm not an expert and I'd look like a fool, but his actual music just leaves me cold.

wow...a tough one. But I dont really consider them combatants...they are quite different to me. I have 4 Bonnie albums and 3 Clapton ones, as well as his Derek/Dominoes stuff and Cream. I have to pick Clapton....although Bonnie's voice is to die for.
Why the unncessary rudeness?
What unnecessary rudeness? I asked an honest question (and got a couple of good honest answers), and since you can't post anything that's fewer than ten characters long, I filled the remaining space with a joke for Amber from another thread.

I can definitely see that. Actually, now that I think about it, most of his music has been pretty horribly boring and MOR since the early 70s. (Remember that damn song with Babyface from that John Travolta telekinesis movie?)
Most of his stuff up through Derek and the Dominoes is pretty great, though. (And he can still kick some ass in concert when he wants to, too.)

I was also going to say something about Mr. Clapton being super boring now, but really really good before.
But I'm not too familiar with Bonnie Raitt' s work - just some. I like what I've heard okay, but it doesn't really compare to Layla or Cocaine or Cream stuff.
