So, I just got back from this concert and had high expectations. It started out great. Good rock and amazing light show. I was actually imagining Stevie doing something like that. I had goosebumps for 15 mins and THEN they started having people sing and they sounded like crap. They dove, head first, into cheese. The cheesfactor was so heavy. After an hour, I looked at my friend and made him sneak out with me. I was like, no way I spent $50 for this crap. I was embarassed for them. I saw lots of people leaving and lots of people with this look like, what the fug? I hate that it sucked so bad cause I was hoping for a great time. Oh well. Anyone else seen them?

that you felt the singers sucked...Personally I would rather see Mr.(Al) Pitrelli, Mr.(Chris) Caffery & Mr.(Johnny Lee)Middleton touring in support of a new Savatage album instead of doing TSO (TSO isnt bad if they stayed more focused on rocking, But Paul O'Neill seems more intent to bury Savatage in favor of story telling lore of TSO these days...Sad!)
Oh, Did you know that there's 2 touring versions of TSO for this season? (Not a good idea to me.)
Brian "A Savatage fan...Will not be seeing TSO" j.
ps-The newer TSO album "The Lost Christmas Eve" is kinda of disappointing...

They are coming through here in a couple of weeks. I considered going, but if the show isn't any good, I am glad I didn't buy tickets.

Is this something influenced by the Metallica thing with San Francisco Orchestra ten years ago?

more like the other way around actually. ME-tallica copied what was done by TSO.
TSO (Or should I say specifically lyricist/songwriter/producer Paul O'Neill, since TSO is his baby) took what was being done by Mannheim Steamroller and added elements of hard rock/progressive rock (Kinda obvious by the members of Savatage being in TSO), added Broadway style stage presentation to Christmas/holiday music with an orchestrated twist.
I thought about seeing the Nov.19 show in OKC, But I would rather see Chris Caffery on his solo jaunt in support of his heavy as **** album "W.A.R.P.E.D."

you might like it, I had a friend who did, but to me it was all I could do to sit until intermission

I bought 5 tickets for my sister in law. She's went a couple times before and really enjoys it. She was trying to get me to go, but I don't think I will. I'll be curious to hear what she thinks of it this year.
