I have an old friend who is a Pro Tools engineer, who has been doing very well with it. I knew that he worked on TISL; however, I just noticed that he worked on a (gasp) Lohan record, and that he has worked on tracks for Mayer, Isaaks, Lohan, and Nicks,Crow, and Clarkson.

A search on releases for all these artists turn up either John Shanks or Ben Moody (who I think is producing Edge for Lohan) as producers and musicians on the projects.

Now, I know that record companies often like a newer artist to have at least one cover that has been in the top 40 previously so they can be assured of radio play, but the choice is up to the producer and artist. So I am guessing the Shanks/Moody connection brought a Nicks song to Lohan.

I am sure this is not news to all of you, but I feel I am in the X files, unraveling the secret society. How did these guys become hit makers? Freaky!

As you can tell, I have not been paying attention to mainstream pop music recently, or, obviously, the gigs my friends was getting. If I ask him about this, though, I have to cop to my Nicks obsession, and I am not ready for that.

You would have to admit to your obsession ,but you could find out some great things about the sessions , etc! Find out all you can- and then post-LOL!:wavey:

I am going to work on it, or rather, I will have to work up to asking. First I have to get in touch, as we haven't spoken in a few years.
