Anyone use this? Since getting a new car, I don't have my auxiliary port anymore so I was wondering if these work better than they used to. The last one I had a year or two ago was full of static and the clarity was horrible. I may have to get an auxiliary line put in, but wanted to check out my options before doing that.

I've used mine for like a year and a half, and it's been the best solution. The key is finding the best radio station to use- you weren't using the standard 87.9 or whatever, were you? I've lucked out and 97.7 works perfectly for me in the car, at home, and at work.
They have a new one somewhere that's supposed to be good but is like $80 or something.

I think they are still crap. It's a radio signal after all. But it all depends on where you're using them (not great in L.A.) and as hayley said, a strong solid station.
But if you tend to be a bit more of a audiophile, you won't be happy with it and you should move to hard wiring (aux) that iPod to your stereo.

so true...I loved being able to plug my iPod into that port and get amazing sound - no worrying about carrying tons of crap. I guess I'd better get another aux port...sheesh...

I believe you can get a splitter for one port as you can split one USB port on your computer into two or three. On edit - I think your new car does not have any ports - so never mind
The itrip is okay, but clearly inferior to a direct link. It will do in a pinch though and it is not that expensive to have just in case you want it.

I use the Monster iCarPlay FM Transmitter and it works well enough for me. It's illigal over here though and so is the iTrip

why are they illegal?
I found this online which explains why:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2003/07/31/uk_bans_ipod_radio_addon/
Also found this site selling them in the UK:
http://www.ipodx.co.uk/manufacturers/griffin.shtml
But with the disclaimer:
IMPORTANT NOTICE. PLEASE READ
Use of this product is illegal in the UK under The Wireless and Telegraphy Act, 1949. The law was designed to prevent broadcasting of pirate radio stations and people interfering with government frequencies. The use of FM Transmitters such as the iTrip are not allowed to be used in the UK. iPodX will only sell this item, if you warrant, as according to this disclaimer, that you do not intend to use it in breach of any UK law.
