The other day I finally managed to break my old pair of headphones. So I bought a new pair - Sony MDR-V150s. The sound quality is a lot better, but god, it's like having a C-Clamp on your head! They're alright over my left ear, but my right ear is cold and painful right now. I think I'll have to return them.
I'm feeling cheap, so can anyone recommend a good pair of headphones under $20? I've got a big head.

I wish I had some good recommendations and I know exactly what you're talking about. I've got a pair like that that I don't use - so I stick to my iPod earphones.

If they're just for sitting at the computer then get the kind that go in your ear. I had those until someone stole them from my desk. Seriously, who would want them? The ones I have now are Sony and they just have ear clips. Check out Sony.com for the types they have. Mine are these:
Sony's MDR-J10/BLUE h.earâ„¢ Headphones feature Vertical in-the-ear design for comfort, a headband-free Clip on Style that follows the contour of the ears, and a Non-Slip, Stable Design for a Secure Fit while exercising, skating, dancing or playing sports.
I'm not sure they would actually stay on during rigorous acitivity though.

Here's a good site to find what you need, at your price:

I use Grado SR60. Great sounding headphones, but cheap it's not. Also some Sennheiser headphones are pretty decent.

I like the big Sony's, because they isolate outside noise really well. I use them doing sound, too, so when the crowd's really too loud, I can mix the band on the headphones, and block those noisy sorority girls screeching voices out of my head!

Hmm, I use a Sony brand that's like 19.99. It works for me.

I have in-ear headphones that I paid $8 for, lol.... I've had them forever, but they're almost better quality than the ones that came with my mp3 player, so I can't complain.

I am always buying headphones because sooner or later they break/snap/twist/erode around the junction of an earpiece and the headband.

May I ask, what did they cost?
I bought them on eBay, because that was the cheapest place I could find them. They are normally almost $300 headphones, but I got them on eBay for $150. I tried them out at an audio store:high tech stereos, speakers, etc., first. After I listened through them, I knew I had to have them, so I went in search. Because, I wasn't paying $300 for headphones, that was what the store was asking.
Here is the Sennheiser page for my headphones.

Well, I bought a new pair a couple hours ago - Sony MDR-G42. They were $15 at Circuit City. By the way, the customer service is horrible there! I spent ten minutes in the checkout line, no one came, and finally gave in and had it rung up at the service desk.
Anyway, they're a lot more comfortable than the VDR-150s, but the rubber ear clips are going to take some getting used to. I swear, they'll think of any way to poke, prod, or crush the human body just for entertainment.
