Have and of you seen this movie yet? I have noticed the reviews have been kind of bad, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I saw it Friday night, and I thought the acting was superb. It seemed to be a real and honest depiction of the first Gulf War, and thankfully never came across as an attempt to be pro-current Iraq war or anti-current Iraq war.

Ok, it's worth it just to look at Jake Gyllenhall without a shirt on.....

I have yet to see it, but my friend saw it and said that while it was an utterly useless and crappy movie, Jake Gyllenhaal was really fantastic in it. I'm going to have to prepare myself for two hours of Jamie Foxx before I see it, though, because I cannot stand that man.

Christ, no. I'd rather have a root canal. What a useless, pandering, cartoonish performance that was. Not once did I take him seriously, it was nothing but Jamie Foxx giving his (bad) impression of Ray Charles. Fug. I want to know who he had to blow to get that Oscar.

Definetely not useless and crappy in my opinion. Everyone says "there's no action" well it is meant to be a real dipiction of Marines, who often found themselves feeling perhaps USELESS during that war, as it was fought for the most part by air...and they were promised that they wouldn't just be sitting in the desert for hundreds of days waiting for no reason. I thought the acting was superb, but I guess you have to like military movies to enjoy it, and I do.

Hell no, she didn't. She was up against Kidman, Dench, and Spacek that year. I don't know who the hell I would have voted for that year out of those actresses, but I can assure that it would not have been for Miss Lemme-Show-My-Tits-While-I-Faux-Screw-Billy-Bob Berry. She should have gotten some sort of award for the sex scene with Billy Bob, though. "Most Controlled Gag Reflexes" or something.

Meh, it was between her and Spacek. I wouldn't be able to choose. She should have gotten an Oscar for Dogville, not The Hours.

"Today's a day...when dreaming ends..."

After that scene, I thought to myself...if she doesn't get the gold...I am going to scream! AND I DID!

But it's not as big a rip off as the 1954 oscar was!

I would have gone for Nicole, maybe Spacek. I love Judi Dench, but would have preferred her to win for Mrs. Brown.

Didn't Halle pick up her Razzie in person for Catwoman? That was great.

Spacek was so masterful in "In the Bedroom." That performance is fecking legendary in my eyes. Her and Tom Wilkinson together were just, I don't know, beyond words. That final scene where she's smoking a cigarette in bed, waiting for her husband to come home after killing that man, is devastating. Every hair on my body stood; it was such a cold scene made even colder by her performance. Cold as ice, I tell you.

At least she doesn't take herself too seriously. She gets major props for that.

I think Hedda Hopper reported that she believe it was 6 votes that Judy lost by. She burned to many bridges back in her metro days!

Jarhead was good. It was an interesting take on a soldier's perspective on waiting to go to war. It is worth the price of admission for the party scenes alone - and you will have to see it to know what I mean, but I will say Santa Clause never looked like that
