Here's another interview to listen to. It has some different info than the other interviews. Stevie even sings a little bit in it.

If you scroll down there's a link to listen to the whole interview. :)

The part where Stevie says that FM wanted them both to join right away. Doesn't LB always say that he got her in FM? That they wanted him as their new guitar player and he said not unless you take my GF too, this is package deal? I know I saw him say that in quite a few interviews. So which is it? Anyone know for sure?

Me too, she is really opening up about stuff. She seems much more relaxed than during the Dance or SYW interviews when it comes to talking about the Mac. Maybe she is getting closer to writing that book-lol! ;)

Maybe by New Year's Eve 1974 Mick had already made up his mind to include both LB and SN. I am sure there were discussions behind the scenes between LB and Mick before Mick called them that night. Just my take on it.

I too am loving the recent interviews. They do seem much more open and relaxed. Maybe you are right, maybe that book is not that far behind. It does seem like she is doing a lot of reminiscing about who she is and where she came from. I wonder if Jess' passing may have something to do with that. When my Grandmother passed away 2 years ago, it made me do the same and am still doing that to a point.

Yeah I agree I think some negotiations went on between MF and LB that to this day remain untold. And I think that book is getting closer than we think. Shoot, if I had to choose between a new cd from her or a book, I would want the book! :D

That was a great interview. Thanks for posting. I was particularly enamored by her "grandfather story". :)

Yeah I agree I think some negotiations went on between MF and LB that to this day remain untold. And yet Stevie says that Lindsey didn't particularly want to join the band, & that she sort of talked him into it. Interesting perspective . . . you got me thinkin'!!

Welch didn't just up & quit ... when someone quits like that, it's a slow process & it builds. And the others in a band can almost always sense that something is up with that person who is no longer keen on the band thing.

I think maybe by "right away" she meant, during that week - in other
words, no big delays involved.
For example, suppose Stevie said "Lindsey's solo album will be out soon."
Well, YEAH but what does THAT mean???

Well I have hung around alot of bands in my lifetime and I agree with what you think. Anytime someone was going to leave a band I was hanging around , it was always a long drawn out process, indecision, people ask you to stick it out and so forth. And the rest of the band usually has someone waiting on the backburner, in case the person really does leave.

I groused plenty, & was generally a pain in the ass to the other people, probably. Finally they called one last rehearsal before a showcase in Las Vegas, which I didn't think we needed because we had just played a full weekend in Stateline, so I didn't show up to rehearsal. I e-mailed them & said I had decided to stay home & cook Shake 'n' Bake chicken. They e-mailed me back that night after their rehearsal & said "You can stay home & cook chicken when we go to Vegas, too."

I think with Bob Welch & everyone else who ever left Fleetwood Mac (unless he was canned, like Danny & Weston) did so over the course of many months. It wasn't just a snap decision (except in Jeremy's case, but somebody brainwashed him). It was a lot of hemming & hawing & making the other members practically beg for you to stay (which isn't a good idea).

Wow I didn't know you played in Mirage  cool. Oh and Jeremy getting brainwashed - what a scary story there!

Stevie Nicks: I am funny.[laughs] I crack up my band constantly. I could have been a comedian if I'd really wanted to. In Fleetwood Mac, I was pretty much told to be quiet at all times. I was so intimidated because I didn't feel like anybody wanted me to be in the band and that they only wanted Lindsey[Buckingham] and me along for the ride.

This quote is from 94. Funny how things have changed. I am starting to see what alot of Ledgies are saying about how she is always saying different things and contradicting herself.
