I know things have been a little depressed around here lately, especially with me. SO I thought I'd share a story with all of you. I just came out of the closet about 2.5 years ago, and let's say I had a few bumps in the road the first year. SOunds weird to do that at 32. But anyway, early in 2004, I was at a bar here in Minneapolis called the Saloon, and I met a very nice guy named Craig. Craig was in his mid 40's, and had been + for over 15 years. We over the first few months of 2004 became quite good friends, and he helped me IMMESAURABLY by juts giving me advice, since he'd been on the scene for over 20 years. Things like who to avoid, what to watch out for, ETC. My gay Big brother I likw to say. SO anyway, in May I got 2 tickets for each Fleetwood Mac show in Iowa, 7-13, Sioux City, and 7-14 Cedar Falls. Craig had told me a few weeks before I bought the tickets, that his therapist had said it would be a really good idea if he got out of town, even if it was only for a day or 2. SO anyway, one night at the bar when we were hanging out, I approached him and asked what he was doing on the 13th and 14th of July. He said probably nothing, and I asked him if he wanted to go see Fleetwood Mac in Iowa with me for a couple shows. He was flabbergasted. Right away he told me he couldnt afford the tickets or the hotel, but I told him it was my treat. He was so happy that anyone would do this for him. Craig has had a tough life. He grew up a Jehovah's Witness. I dont think I need to tell you what happened when he told his parents he was gay. He's been through hell and back, drug problems depression, ETC. For someone who has given me so much in my life experience by being my mentor, I felt this was the least I could do for him. We had a blast too, a beautiful drive through southern Minnesota into Iowa, stayed in Sioux City, then Drove over to Cedar Falls the next day, then after the show drove back hom, and got in about 330 am. It was a small expense on my part that helped make someone elses life better. That made me feel pretty good. Hope you enjoyed the story.

It sounds like you were/are a very good friend to Craig.
He's lucky to have you in his life!

David, that really is so nice. Twice I have brought people to Stevie/FM. I flew a friend out to Vegas to come and see Stevie there, got her ticket, and the hotel room, and a ticket for a third friend who did pay her own airfare. I really wanted them to be there with me so I helped them out. We had a great time. This was the Enchanted tour in '98. We wound up getting back stage and meeting Sharon and Carlos. That was such a cool experience.

For The Dance concert I bought a friend a ticket, she paid but I got it from a scalper so she paid the face value and I forked over the rest. We had a good time but the seats turned out to be way over to the left so we had Stevie's back to us the whole night. :( I could have spat on Christine's piano however, she was right in front of us.

You are kind David. Be as kind to yourself as you are to others.

Wow, you did???
Okay, just real quick - you did this, and you are an Aries. David MN did this, and he is an Aries. The person who did it for me was an Aries.
Pretty cool, yeah? Coincidence, or astrological evidence? :p Although, of course, I feel like I would do that if I had the money, but I don't think DavidMn is rolling in it, or you, and you did it anyway. :woohoo:

Yep, I did. I worked for a consulting firm had some stock I bought through the employee purchase plan. I made a couple grand so I cashed them in and viola! I did feel guilty being so "frivolous" but the stock tanked anyway so I am nothing but pleased that I spent it when I could!

Hmm, so Aries fans will pay for your tickets? PM me and let me know who the Aries peeps are on the board.

I know, really. Oh, and it's "Aries". I always want to type "Airies" too, though. It was a bitch when I was doing the "For Aries Ledgies" thing, I had to delete and retype about a million times...:p
It's true they are supposed to be thoughtlessly generous, though. :)

Right, of course, "Aries". I guess its just my brain wanting to do its own thing! I didn't know it was an Aries trait to be generous, interesting.

I HAD money, but I spent all of it, and now I dont have any. But I wouldnt change a thing. At least I have memories of what I did, and I'll be back on my feet soon enough. I have a handle on my depression now, and I'm on Selexa, which has helped.

I wanted to say this too. I feel that with Stevie as an inspiration of mine, just looking at her example of what a good person she is, has been a guiding light for me.
