I am thinking about buying a few album frames to display some of my old album covers. Has anyone ever used these? Do you leave the album in the cover, and if so, is there any danger to the album?

I would take the album out and store separately for fear you would get a "ring" effect from the compression of the frame. Btw, I got some really well made ones at Restoration Hardware a few years ago. I think they still carry them. They have black and chrome I believe. Also seen them at Urban Outfitters.

Yes, take the vinyl out of the frame prior to mounting on the wall. :wavey:

I have 6 albums on my walls of various FM related albums. Recently found the album frames at Wal Mart (which I hate, but ah well). I got my first album frames through the net...they were $12.99 a piece.

Thanks for this. I have wondered for years now where I could find these, but I had no idea Michaels carried them!

I recently bought some record frames from one of my local stores, Twist & Shout. They're black polished wood with two layers of matting, one black and one white, and there is no compression from the front side - only the back. They were 20 dollars each, and they look really nice. The only thing that concerned me was that the interior black matting is made from cedar wood, which is very oily....so I left the albums covers inside of the plastic slipcovers that they were stored in, so as to avoid an oily square 'ring' around the perimeter of the LP cover.. Once the framing was assembled, the clear plastic slipcovers were not even noticable.
