I love this show! (And especially Patrick Dempsey!) I can't believe he picked the wife... but I don't think that's the end of him and Grey either. I'm sure the writers will stretch it out as long as possible, though.
Yes, the whole thing with Bonnie was so sad. I almost lost it when Dr. Bailey stopped the elevator so "McDreamy" could cry.
On a lighter note, though, I thought the whole search for the missing foot was hilarious!

Who watched it last night?
I thought the story line with the older couple was hilarious! Particularly when the husband finally snapped. And when they told him his wife's heart had caught on fire during the surgery, but she would be okay... and he said something to the effect of "This was her fifth open heart surgery, her heart catches on fire, and she survives... nothing will ever kill that monster!"
The fact that Izzy and Yang were selling tickets to the "pregnant guy's" surgery was pretty funny as well. I felt sorry for the guy, though, and am glad Meredith became so protective of him.
I can't decide how I feel about Alex. I'll hate him and think he's a pompous a$$, but then he'll do something that makes me like him. The whole speech he gave the 18-year old patient that had never been kissed (don't remember her name... i'm horrible with names!) was so sweet... and said a world about why he didn't kiss Izzy when they went on their date. Then when he walked into the bar at the end and kissed Izzy... hot!
"McDreamy" didn't look like he was feeling the love for wifey at the end, when she reached out for his hand and he didn't take it. Very awkward! And from the previews, it looks like maybe he and Meredith may be getting back together sooner than I expected. Of course, that could be just a tease.

I just realized last night that McDreamy reminds me a lot of LB. I was like "his mouth looks familiar" and "who the heck does he remind me of?" as I noticed under his chin and around his jaw was aging a bit. And his thin downward nose, blue eyes.
Yep. Lindsey. He reminded me of Lindsey.
But aside from that - he really doesn't seem to like his wife, much. But - she just said she was moving to Seattle, so he better change his mind quick, or he'll have a debacle on his hands. :)
It was super lame how she said not to talk to Meredith, though. You know, since they work together.
The guy who looks like yet another chubby son of Patty Duke (I forget his name, the one who's not hooking up with anyone, and who got syphillis) - he bugs. Can he please change his facial expression to make himself look less loser-ish? Quit looking so confused! Get some balls! etc. :)

There was a thread on another board, around the time that Grey's Anatomy first aired, with the topic "who would play the band members in a Fleetwood Mac movie/mini-series". Someone mentioned Patrick Dempsey for Lindsey. At the time, I wasn't watching the show and only remembered him from the 80's teen movies he was in. So I didn't see the resemblence. But now that I'm into the show (and him!) I definitely can see it! It's mostly the dark hair and incredible blue eyes for me!

can anyone give me a summary of last night's show? I was on a plane and missed it
Snagged this from a Grey's Anatomy web site:
It's Thanksgiving and Izzie's cooking a turkey, but nobody's excited about it. Meredith sneaks off to the hospital (on a day off), where she and Derek treat a man in a persistent vegetative state -- who wakes up. Cristina and Burke arrive for the feast, and Burke promptly takes over in the kitchen while Cristina finds an excuse to go work. And George is dragooned by his father and brothers to go on a turkey shoot.
To add details to this....
Addison tells Derek she wants to have sex that night. She tells him she's made reservations for noon at a nice restaurant. He is non-commital on the "sex" part. He goes into the hospital for "just an hour" to check on things. But then he gets caught up in the case of the guy who wakes up from the vegetative state he's been in for 16 years, and ends up working all day, alongside Meredith. When they're leaving the hospital, Derek and Meredith talk. She asks him if he loves his wife. He says he doesn't know. She says she admires that he's trying to work it out, and that he wouldn't be the person she thought he was if he didn't. She says goodbye to him and wishes him luck with his wife, basically "setting him free". When he returns home, Addison is waiting for him in the rain. She asks him if he's purposely trying to get back at him. He sits down next to her and starts kissing her. We assume they end up having sex. (BTW, he looks HOOOOTTTT all wet! :blob1: ) Meredith ends up at the bar. A good looking stranger asks her if the seat next to her is taken. She says as long as he's not a doctor and doesn't work at the hospital, it is. And she tells him he can feel free to buy her a drink!
In the meatime, Izzy is nervous about cooking her first Thanksgiving dinner, and the other interns all seem to blow her off. Meredith sneaks off to the hospital for the day, because she doesn't want to bring everyone down. Christina shows up with Burke, now that they're officially "out" as a couple. And George's dad and brothers wisk him away turkey hunting. George hates the hunting, btw, particularly since he feels that his brothers and dad treat him like a dumb kid. His dad tells him they're not leaving until he shoots one, which he eventually does so he can get the heck out of there. When they're getting into the truck, his drunk brothers accidentally shot their dad, to which George yells: "Are you happy now?! You shot dad in the ass!" They take the dad to the hospital, George goes off on his brother, and removes the bullet from his dads butt, while they have a heart-to-heart talk.
Back at the intern's house, Burke takes over the dinner, and teaches Izzy how to make the dinner. But he's "running" it like a "surgery", quizing her like in the operating room, asking her what she thinks needs to be done next. While Christina is watching this, she keeps hunting for booze throughout the house. She finally says she's leaving to get booze. Burke and Izzy notice a couple hours later she's still not back. Turns out it's because she's at the hospital looking for surgeries, in order to "relax".
The whole time, Izzy's wondering where Alex is. She doesn't know he's back at the hospital studying for his boards. Alex confides to Meredith that he flunked the boards but doesn't want Izzy to know. Meredith tells him he should keep it a secret if he wants, but he shouldn't blow off the Thanksgiving dinner. Eventually, all the interns realize they're all at the hospital... instead of at Izzy's for Thankgiving dinner!
Izzy and Burke are back at the house waiting for everyone, thinking they're not going to show. Izzy tells Burke he can leave if he wants, but he says he's not getting up from the table until the hostess does. So they're about to dig in, when Christina, George, and Alex finally show up. Izzy is about to explode on them, but instead, tells everyone to dig in.
One other funny storyline... Bailey and Meredith end up with a real asshole of a visiting surgeon, who is very patronizing and basically wants them to just stay out of his way, and do the grunt work. He says he's waiting for the "real" (male) resident, who's nicknamed "The Nazi". Through the whole episode, every time he runs into Bailey, she's in surgery. He wants her to suture someone up, but she tells him the Nazi insisted she perform the surgery, and that he'll have to do the suturing himself. Finally, near the end of the episode, we (and the jerk doctor) find out that Bailey is "The Nazi"! I love that woman!
I guess this is more of a manuscript than the summary you requested! :)

Christina's commitment phobia is hysterical. "I got keyed." I dated my last BF for 2 years and never got a key! Ah well, his loss.
I see more chemistry between George and Izzy than George and Meredith. I know he is supposed to have a crush on the latter but I don't see it. Izzy is out of his league physically but there still seems to be something there. That woman is so gorgeous and I like that she is not rail thin. Although she probably will be, a la Portia di Rossi after Ally McBeal, just from being around Pompeo. Hopefully not!
Dr. Sheppard and Dr. Sheppard just may deserve each other given the way he's been acting. I say they keep them together and move on with Meredith and other characters.

OK, on topic: Grey's Anatomy was HOT last night. When Izzy grabbed George by the shirt and was like I NEED SEX. I about died. George is precious. I'm glad he's getting over Meredith. She is really emo and lame and completely gets on my nerves. I think I need to go back and watch Season 1, maybe I'll appreciate her more. I just don't get the dynamics of the Merf/McDreamy relationship because I never really saw them together except for the pilot.
And I'm starting to get over my ickiness with Katherine Heigl thing. Hated her in Roswell. HATE. But when she walked in on Alex and that UGLY SKANK NURSE (ahem!) last night, I really wanted her to go in there and kick his ass. Le sigh.

Well, Bailey made up the name McDreamy and you like her. Remember that these people are interns and so are playing 25-26ish, a time where people tend to make lots of mistakes/experiments with dating, sex, etc. Plus you're married and perhaps have forgotten the drama that surrounds being single. ;)

considering your posts, I am suprised about this opinion.
You know, because I thought you'd like the show?
I think the black female doctor has just as much a "jello brain" as any of the rest, if not more. Just cause she's meaner, doesn't mean she's smarter.
According to my watch, all the girls have been pretty darn medically knowledgeable since the beginning of the show. And everyone has been "wise" at some point.
Yes, it's a bit more sophomoric then the real doctor's life would be.
Of course everything has to be more dramatic and sexy. That's how TV is.
This show, so far, definitely has okay writing and pretty darn good acting. I guess we'll see how it holds up, and it's not...uh...George Bernard Shaw? or anything....Although it might have a smidge of Edward Albee, and a bare touch of Tennessee Williams...which ain't half bad. :) To hyperbolize.

Well, Bailey made up the name McDreamy and you like her. Remember that these people are interns and so are playing 25-26ish, a time where people tend to make lots of mistakes/experiments with dating, sex, etc. Plus you're married and perhaps have forgotten the drama that surrounds being single. ;)
You are probably right:xoxo: I have a 25 year old daughter and her life is always filled with drama that I never really experienced in my 20's. I guess I was always an old soul type of person. I do watch it with my hubby because he likes the show but he gives me those looks everytime I make comments about the interns:D

I just saw this.
considering your posts, I am suprised about this opinion.
OK, I'll give this show another chance. It was pretty funny when Meredith and McDreamy was in the same room as Meredith's "one night stand" patient and McDreamy had to find out that the guy and Meredith had sex:lol: I love Desperate Housewives and it is almost as quirky as this show but I like the characters on that show alot better.

 Sometimes I watch The Real World with my roommate and they always seem so stupid. Then I have to remind myself they are all about 21-23In this day and age they are still just kids! Say something nice about one of the characters this Sunday and watch your husband's look of shock!

I'm going through withdrawal, since most of my shows are reruns right now. Last night was particularly difficult for me because I live for Grey's Anatomy on Sunday nights.
So I went over to a Grey's Anatomy message board to read about some of the upcoming episodes. The title of the next episode to air is "Tell Me Sweet Little Lies". At least one of the writers must be a Mac fan!

Just a midseason replacement. I've tried to get into it, though, but I just can't. I love The Dempsey, but the show is just blah. All of that silly voiceover sludge and the "Oh, we're so hip because we worked a hot indie song into the show" **** drives me BONKERS. You think she's evil? How weird. She seems cool to me, except that she wants to stay with her husband if he still loves her. Otherwise she seems rad. Remember when she told that patient that she owes Ellen Pompeo an apology? And she's done other logical cool things.
I told Diss to keep his apartment, but he wouldn't.... It seems like black doctor wouldn't like that Sandra Oh kept her apartment, especially at least that she is lying.

To me sleeping with your best friend is a deal breaker and you just move on after that. I agree, it was really creative and fresh. How did they ruin it? By keeping Ally single in that pathetic way (looking for her one and only soul mate fantasy instead of a real man). She never grew! It's like, "Enough already with the fantasy land, you're pushing 40 girl!" Hence, the new title, Ally Getreal. Oh I love my dad.

How did they ruin it? Too many stunts and they made it all about sex. Sex sex sex. That was all it was about. SEX. Orgasmic waddle stroking reached new heights. I knew it was all over as soon as Ally and Ling shared their lesbian kiss. It completely ruined what was once a fantastic show. Then they killed off Billy in the most inane way, had a musical episode (!!!), Renee just vanished into thin air, Courtney Thorne Smith chopped off all her hair and was never heard from again, JON BON JOVI joined the cast (!!!!), they canned Mark LeGros, and then they created a tween daughter for Ally out of the same thin air that Renee disappeared into. Oh, it was so wretched that I'm still cringing three years after the fact.

I've actually warmed up to the wife a little. She's shown moments of humanness, and she's a lot stronger than Grey. But I agree about the sleeping with his best friend. No way I'd take someone back if they slept with my best friend.

And I'm going to be out of town next week, so I might have to until I get back to watch it on my Tivo! I was so mad when I found out that it's a two-parter.
I love George more and more every week. He's so funny! I loved when he hugged Bailey and said "I missed you!" And Bailey is always hysterical! I loved when she said she was going home, and was just going to hold the baby in. I felt so bad for her, though. I hope they don't kill the husband off. The scene when we found out that was her husband, though... they totally stole that from ER.
I was screaming at Dr. Mason when he left Christina Ricci's character literally holding the bag. Bastard!

It was on after the Super Bowl and wound up starting at 10:30. A man showed up to the ER with a wound in his chest that no one knew the cause of. Finally they figured it out and realized he had live ammunition in his chest. He and his buddy had recreated a WWII weapon and accidentally fired it into his chest. The ammo had not yet exploded so he essentially had a bomb in his chest. An EMT had her hand in his chest to stop him from bleeding out.
Dr. Burke called the bomb squad and issued a code black. The hospital was evacuated except for the 2 surgeries. Dr Sheppard with Mr. Bailey (forget his actual name) and Dr Burke with ammo guy. At one point it was just the EMT (Ricci) and the anesthesiologist with the bomb patient. The latter left the EMT alone because "he has kids". She freaked out. The interns found her and when they did she insisted on pulling out her hand, which was next to the ammo. They tried to talk her down but she was too freaked. She ripped out her hand and ran. Meredith put her hand in and mumbled "what did i do?" over and over.

Thanks, Suze!
Oh, by the way, I read this article about Ellen Pompeo, and she's naturally thin. She actually has to eat extra calories to make sure she stays up to her weight. When she was a kid the italian people in her neighborhood all called her something in italian that meant "string" because she was so little. I noticed on some thread girls telling her to eat a cheeseburger, and that she was too skinny, etc. First of all, cheeseburgers aren't good for you. Second of all, I don't like when people hate on someone who is skinny. It's not the skinny person's fault that you aren't skinny, why hate?

Bailey went into labor. That's why her husband was on his way to the hospital. He got into a bad accident on the way there, and McDreamy had to operate on his brain. BTW, the labor part was pretty funny. Bailey shows up at the hospital, chews the interns out for driving away 2 of her replacements, then calmly tells George to page Addison (Mrs. McDreamy), and told Izzie to get a wheelchair. George asked "what am I supposed to tell Dr. Shepard when I page her?" Then, Bailey's water breaks. She tells George "Tell her I'm in labor and my water just broke all over your shoes!"
Anyway, back to Bailey's husband and bomb guy. Burke was about to operate on bomb guy when Alex discovered there was a live bomb in him. He ran to the OR and stopped Burke from cutting him open. In the meantime, Dr. McDreamy was in the next OR operating on Bailey's husband. After they called the code black, they evacuated the hospital. But McDreamy refused to leave Bailey's husband there to die.
So yes, the big cliff hanger is whether the bomb will go off and whether emo, and those who refused to evacuate, will die. Also, even if the bomb doesn't go off, will Bailey's husband will die. They showed a clip from next week, where Yang is in McDreamy's OR, and tells him that emo now has her hand in bomb guy. He looks like he's going to freak out and run to her. Of course, they often creatively edit those previews to make it look like more than they really are. They also showed a clip where Addy tells the chief of staff (can't remember his name) that they have to get the baby out of Bailey quick, or the baby might die. And also a clip where the chief appears to have a heart attack.

I read that same article -- Self Magazine, right? She said she has to eat at least 3,000 calories a day just to maintain her weight! She's 5'7" (or 5'8"?), and only weighs 100 pounds. I'm only 5'1" and outweigh her by at least 20 pounds -- and I'm considered thin! I bet if you saw her in person, she looks like she'll break in half! But if it's truly her metabolism, then I agree people should lay off. But considering all the anorexic and bulemic celebrities, people probably assume she's one of them.

THank you so much!!! I swear it wasn't on here. "Mrs. McDreamy"

George was adorable, did you notice that Dr. Bailey named the baby William George Bailey [something]? He was so cute when he repeated, "We are Meredith's family".
I knew that bomb squad guy was going to explode but I did not want him to! After all that, a man carefully carrying the thing blows up? Such is TV drama. Plus, why would Meredith follow the bomb? Duh.
Izzy and Alex - again.

Good idea. I am getting myself some Godiva chocolates. Mmm.
Just got back in town, and was offline for the week I was gone. So I'm just catching up on this thread.
I absolutely love both George and Bailey! The "va-jay-jay" comment was hilarious! (See my signature for another of my favorite Bailey quotes from Part 1!)
I'm glad Bailey's husband is okay. It looked like he was a goner there for awhile.
I was pissed by the ending. I don't really know if I want Derek and Meredith to be together. I used to want them back together, but I find her really annoying. But I kind of hoped he would at least kiss her when he showed up at her house. Instead, he just says "You almost died today", then starts to leave?! What a dick!
Tonight should be interesting, though, with McDreamy's ex-friend/Mrs. McDreamy's ex-lover showing up.

Whoa, whoa, whoa!!!
I had to put my son to bed, so I just now finished watching the rest of the episode on Tivo.
Addison stayed with McSteamy when McDreamy left her?!
George and Meredith?!!!!
I do adore George as well, and I feel so bad for him, because she's going to rip his heart out! I wanted to slap her when he was trying to ask her out, and she wasn't paying any attention to him. Then, he tells her, in such a beautiful way, how he feels about her, and she undresses him?! But you know she's only doing it because she's lonely?! Poor, poor George!
I'm really starting to hope that McDreamy stays with the wife, George tells Meredith to f*ck off, and she ends up alone!
(god, I take this stuff way too seriously!)
Also, Christina and Burke cracked me up as usual. And the Chief was funny when he chewed out McDreamy for punching McSteamy, until Addison tells him who McSteamy is... and the Chief says to McDreamy: "Did you put your weight into the punch?"

Mrs. McDreamy was looking pretty dowdy, IMO. I hated that sweater she had on. It made her look kind of matronly. And I don't like her hair pulled back. She has a "widow's peek" when she wears her hair like that.
I wonder how long it will take McDreamy to find out that the Mrs. stayed with McSteamy after he left? I'm guessing he'll find out at the end of the season.

I don't think that's bad. So she thought she wanted to, but then she didn't. That's totally understandable. Who the hell do you people know? Anyway - I could totally see feeling that way, but hopefully I'd handle it better...not cry and ask if they were done...

Yeah, if he was then he wouldn't have gone for it when she offered herself up. I know Meredith is "weak" but even this seems a bit out of character for her to have done. It is bad but in a weak and lonely moment she had sex with someone who cared about her. Well, that in itself isn't so awful. It's the aftermath, which she should have forseen, that is awful. She knows she's still in love with McDreamy, George is her friend, therefore staying platonic with George is mandatory.
I also feel like this show is getting Melrose Placey, I thought that last night while watching. Maybe we should start a "who sleeps with who next" poll. It has to be a coupling that hasn't happened yet with the main characters. Izzy and George? Burke and Addison?

Okay, how effed up is it that Alex ratted out Mrs. McDreamy? LAME!
Ha, that was hella great when she assigned Alex to vagina duty because of it.
Also, I like that Meredith is dating Chris O'Donnelthevet, because in real life she's a scorpio and he's a cancer. That will be cute to have a vet on the show. Uh...because I like animals? And maybe she won't be as annoyingly emo anymore?

Seizure chick was cool - it was kind of timely because in the one non law class I have to take (human behavior) for my degree, last week we had a special chiropractor in to talk about the emotion/body pain connection. Although, I found it hard to believe that my immense leg pain right after I started biking heavily and biking and hiking UPHILL heavily solely had an emotional cause. Unless the emotion is wanting to get in shape and my joyous physical exuberance I feel at quitting smoking and being able to exercise unencumbered.

Frigging Alex, I hate him. That story line was a little odd because I think in reality Addison would've given the woman her surgery while going through the proper channels. I think that could've been done without telling her husband. It's her body.

I didn't even realize the vet was played by Chris O'Donnell until my husband asked me if that was him. He's looking good! I always thought he was okay looking, but more in a sorta cute way. He's matured a lot and is looking pretty hot now.
The scene with McDreamy walking in as Meredith's coming down the stairs -- he's got that puppy-dog-that's-been-kicked-in-the-face look down pat. Looks like he's gonna be an a$$ about it, though. From the previews, looks like he's going to call Meredith a whore because he thinks she slept with the vet?! Not that I'm a big fan of Meredith's these days, but he has no business trying to have a say in her sex life, since he went back to the wife. And I don't think the hot sex between him and wifey is going to last. That was total "revenge" sex, against Meredith.
I missed about the last 15 minutes last night, can anyone fill me in?
After the vet and Meredith delivered the horse, he invited her back to his place for dinner. She resisted at first. He left it at "You can either come back to my place, take a shower and put on my shirt, and have some dinner. Or, you can go home." We find out she took him up on the shower/dinner when McDreamy shows up with Doc (the dog), who's had a relapse, and Meredith comes down the stairs with wet hair and the vet's shirt on as McDreamy is standing there. He just looks at her with a sad/disgusted look, then leaves. He goes home, and grabs the wife into the shower for some hot (revenge) sex.
Izzy and the heart patient share an intimate embrace. Bailey walks in and looks upset that Izzy is getting involved with the patient, but walks out without saying anything.
After the seizure woman talks to George and encourages him to patch things up with Izzy, he brings his girlfriend back to the house. He tells Izzy that they stayed at the girlfriend's place last night, and are staying at the house tonight. She asks him if this means he's moving back in, and he says yes. She's happy.
After Mrs. McDreamy's patient tells Mrs. McDreamy that she appreciates what she did for her, but won't tell her husband the truth, Mrs. McDreamy runs into Alex in the hallway, who gives her another smart-ass comment (can't remember exactly what he said). She tells him "Since you did such a good job on this case, I'm going to talk to Bailey about having you assigned to me indefinitely." Alex looks pissed.
I think that pretty much covers it. :D

I believe Alex said something like, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions." A-hole. I agree about McDreamy too, he's got no business commenting on Meredith's sex life after he deceived her and betrayed her so badly. What a tool.
Addison becomes more and more likeable every week. That shower sex scene was all about McDreamy fantasizing about Meredith. Nice. He's so wishy washy I want to smack him.

Good God this is a good show! I'm loving it, so glad I started watching.
I agree, Alex sucks. What a dick. It's none of his damn business what Addison's patient wants to do with her body, and it's none of her husband's business either. It is illegal to tell him anything since the wife specifically asked them not to. Of course, Addison could literally lose everything if it's determined that she falsified documentation in the OR, which is also illegal. "It's just insurance for you..." Um, no it's not. She really could lose everything, her job, her license - everything. Insurance for OB/GYNs can run around $25,000 a year. Imagine paying $2000 a month for insurance.
Oh, and let's not forget to tell Patti that McVet (I had no clue that was O'Donnell!) told Meredith "I will absolutely not have sex with you if you come upstairs" after she started babbling about abstaining & knitting & crap. So I don't think they did, but it sure did LOOK like they did to McDreamy.
I love George with this new chick (Callie?) She's hot & I love that she has a normal body. Izzie - sooooooo inappropriate to get involved with a patient. But I do like him.

So, did anyone watch last night?
McDreamy was such an a$$! (Though I liked his haircut. He was looking ultra-hot!)
I cried over the pregnant woman and her baby. The family cracked me up at the beginning, but I felt so bad for them all by the end of the show.
I think Izzy's boyfriend/patient (I keep forgetting his name!) will die on the season ender.
And I felt kinda bad for George's girlfriend. I had noticed the non-handwashing thing before they said anything, and thought "ewww"! But I believed her when she said why, and that she washed them elsewhere. I'd feel incredibly uncomfortable if I were her, too. It was kinda highschoolish, how Emo and Izzy stopped talking and were making faces at each other when she came into the bathroom. They're so obvious that they don't really like her.
Oh, and I love how Yang called Alex "Captain Vagina", and after she left the room, the pregnant woman asked him "What did she say you were the captain of?" Hilarious!
I'm going to be going through Grey's Anatomy withdrawal after next week. Sigh.

I haven't seen Desperate Housewives yet, although I Tivo'd it. So don't give anything away! ;) I love that show, too, though my love for Grey's Anatomy is greater. We also Tivo the Sopranos on Sunday nights. Definitely "Must See TV" night in my house. Those are really the only shows I never miss. It will definitely be a long summer without them!

I finally watched it last night (God bless you, Tivo inventor.)
While I do think it was odd that Callie just walked in & peed (why didn't she say "ooops, didn't know you guys were in here" and come back, or tell them she really had to go or something - she doesn't really know/like them) I agree that Izzie & Meredith were acting like a high school cool girls clique.
McDreamy - so jealous, so uncomfortable. Loved Mer's speech about how he broke her & it's none of his business how she tries to repair the damage he did. He's accusing her of sleeping around - funny, she's slept with the same number of people he has. yeah, I know he thinks she slept with the vet, but still. It's not like she's banging the whole hospital.
The accident was so devastating. No way in hell that the dad (Big Jim) would have just touched the guy's face & walked away, though. I thought he was gonna punch him. Alex showed that he was human when he saved the baby, but I can't stand his attitude all the time.
My theory is that he wants to bang Addision (hey, he didn't already, did he? I missed most of last season...) and there's a lot of sexual tension there. They'll be doin' it by the middle of next season, causing McDreamy to question his decision to leave Meredith.
Izzie's patient - yeah, I think he's outta here. The actor plays the dad on Supernatural too, and the season ender of that one implies he might be killed off there as well. Poor guy. :o
Hey - why was Izzie eating through the entire episode? Is she knocked up, perhaps? or does she do that all the time & I never noticed.

Oh my. I cannot BELIEVE what Izzy is doing, she has literally lost it - playing God, stopping his heart, I can't get over it. And now poor George is involved? They could both go to jail. Sheebus.
So scared about Dr. Burke. He may be a goner. :(
Addison looked like she got hit by a truck when Meredith said that she was dating the vet, realizing that this is why Derrick is so upset. "Everyone knows that Derrick loves Meredith except Derrick and Meredith! I can't compete with Meredith Grey!" Awesome, just awesome.
I didn't start watching until the end of the first season, so I don't know if I want Meredith with Derrick or not.
BTW - I still love Callie, even though she's turning out to be quite the bitch. She's sexy and cool. I don't know if it will last with her & George, though, she's way too jealous of his relationships with the girls.
Can't wait for tonight. Of course, it will probably end up being quite the cliffhanger, so then I'll be bitching that I can't wait until September.

I don't think she's a bitch. I think she reacts to situations in a way that many of us would. Then again, I really dislike Meredith so my view on the subject is rather biased.
I just hope I get home from work in time to catch all of the rest of it tonight.

Well, she's acting like I would, that's why I think people may consider her a bitch. Anyway, I love her.
I have soooo much to say I'm just going to break it down a bit.
Izzie & Denny - Katherine Heigl was amaaaaazing tonight. Izzie is taking too many hits off the crazy pipe for me, but Katherine made me BELIEVE her pain tonight. Snaps to her. I think she's going to be done after this. Maybe I've missed a lot (but I've seen every episode!) but I just don't see the set up for a move like this. Sure she likes the guy, maybe she loves him, but what makes her do something like this when he would probably end up with a heart eventually? A lot of bad off people come through that hospital! She didn't have to go that route. And shame on her for bringing George into it just so he could witness their display.
Addison - I actually felt reallllly bad for her tonight. I'm glad she's finally gotten this all out in the open because frankly she deserves someone who's going to pay attention to her. She's fabulous. I loved the scene with Meredith, it was well played. And the scene with the Chief in the end. Whoa.
Callie - I am thisclose to flying to Seattle, scooping up George, and protecting him from that pile of crazy. I don't get why he's involved with someone like that. However I loved him talking about how his ladies were his family.
Burke & Cristina - I think this will be just the thing for her to forgive him.
Meredith - way to hit us on the head with subtlety at the end. "i really love him, i really do," sure you love the dog, Mer. Sure.
McDreamy - way to bring the jerk factor down a notch. That scene in the elevator with Mer by themselves was painful. I've noticed he doesn't save a lot of patients so I'm worried for Burke.
Best quote of the night: "Hey, sorry Alex, this part of the bar is for surgeons. We don't socialize with gynecologists."

05-15-2006, 11:12 AM
My theories about where they might be going with all of this...
I think Preston may die, forcing Christina to actually be a hurt, vulnerable, depressed person instead of a smart, skilled, cold surgeon. Of course, him being severely wounded & needing her to care for him would do it too.
I think (I said it before, I'll say it again) that Addison will seduce Alex. Their dislike for eachother has got to come to a head soon, and I think passion will take over. Then she can ask McDreamy if he cares again.
I think that Denny will die & Izzie will lose everything, have a breakdown, the whole 9 yards.
I think that Callie may give George an ultimatum ("them or me") and he won't do it. That, or he'll try to defend Izzie when the **** hits the fan & she won't want to deal with it. They'll break up.
Meredith & McDreamy? I honestly do not have a clue.

I like this show a lot - but part 1 really disappointed me. It's like they saw how popular the post-SuperBowl bomb episode was, so they sat around some conference table and said, "You know what would be great for the finale? A crazy restaurant worker with a gun!" And it's not like we couldn't see it coming after they announced in the first few minutes of the show that Petey the Shooter got away, and knowing it would be a 3-part finale.
But maybe that's more a comment on the whole May Sweeps process than the show - I understand they're still trying to build an audience - it's just that I *really* liked the show (the characters mostly) even before they started with the big stunts.
And a question: What's up with the lawsuit against Addison that Alex is supposedly helping with? I missed one episode a few weeks ago, and they haven't mentioned it since it was announced.

I saw the tube-tying episode, but missed the next one (or maybe the one after - it was that weird few weeks where GA and DH were alternating repeats and new episodes).
So - nothing else has been said about the lawsuit? I just hate it when shows do that. Are we to assume that Addison is making Alex be her grunt so he'll see her side and not assist the husband with the lawsuit?

In Ledgeality, you'll kick yourself all summer for missing it. Sleepness nights. Restless days. Loss of appetite. No sex drive. And you'll pick up the uncontrollable habit of starting every adjective you speak or type with "Mc".

In Ledgeality, you'll kick yourself all summer for missing it. Sleepness nights. Restless days. Loss of appetite. No sex drive. And you'll pick up the uncontrollable habit of starting every adjective you speak or type with "Mc".
Are you sure you want to risk it? By my clock you have 2 minutes to decide.
 Ledgeality. Heck, I already read what happens.
Wait, what do you mean? Like "McSucky" or "McUgly"?
It's starting. I can probably switch back and forth.
God, I can't believe Izzy did that....

Amen to that. And bitch needs to eat something, she's just nasty.
I'm loving Izzy though, never cared one way or the other about her before.
George is starting to piss me off.
And this whole thing with Chris O'Donnell? So unrealistic. VETS DO NOT LOOK LIKE THAT. I know, I've worked with/for lots of them. Sorry, that's been bothering me. Handsome doctors? Sure. Vets? Uh uh. Not gonna happen. Why? 'Cause vets fall into one of two categories: Dorky weirdos who never really fit in and so became really interested in animals because critters just don't give a f*ck what you look like or how you act (so long as you're nice to them) or egotistical assholes who care only about the science of medicine and so turned to veterinary medicine because they figured that means their patients can't talk to them. So not kidding.

Loved how Alex was comforting Izzy and Christina ran to Burke.
The Vet Doc and Addison should become a couple. They would look good together.
I am positive that wasn't a balloon exploding when George was using the helium pump............it was McD's and Mer's brains. Those two couldn't think their way out of a paper bag:laugh: Heck, she can't even keep track of her undies:laugh:

She is not. Or, they both are. Whichever. Slut is such an antiquated and meaningless notion, judging people on their sexuality is not really a character assessment.
Catherine Heigl was incredible in this show, for sure.
I don't know, but Oprah can take care of herself.
I had a vet that was really cute like Chris O'donnel before. I feel bad for him, but I hope Meredith goes back to McDreamy, because I feel really bad for Addison, he really doesn't love her.

If Terry's not alowed to call Meredith a slut, then you're not allowed to call Callie uglyclingy. :D Got it? The bitch is hot, and far from clingy.
Meredith & McDreamy. I don't know if I want them together or not, I don't know if I even care. But oh my, that was one of the hottest scenes I've seen on TV in recent memory. :o Sweet Jesus, somebody bring me some water.
Who will she pick? Well, if she does go with Derrick, it can't last, the show is all about the tension between them. So, my new theory is that he'll decide to leave Addison, then Addison will find out she's pregnant & he'll decide that he must stay & do the right thing. Something like that. I still think Addison may bang Alex too, perhaps after she finds out about M&D's little prom tryst. Ooooh! Then she wouldn't know who's kid it was! OK, I'll stop writing my own scripts now.
Christina really pulled through in the end. I was getting pretty pissed when she left the OR, when she wasn't visiting Burke...But she came through. I like that it's scaring the hell out of her to have feelings & actually BE AFRAID & unsure for once in her life. She'll bounce back, I'm sure of it.
Heartbreaking scenes:
*When they put down Doc. Poor pup. :distress:
* Izzy. Oh, poor Izzy. She was so ****ing happy in that elevator. I had a feeling it would turn out like this, but it still hit hard. Powerful scene, with her laying next to Denny in that dress. She looked so beautiful. :( And then Alex carrying her away & comforting her. I nearly couldn't bear it.
* Cheif's neice. Awful, just awful. So young, so sad. The thing that touched me most was when she was dancing with him & said "He loves me. I've been loved. Everyone should have that. I have been LOVED!"
I haven't been this emotionally invested in a show since...I really don't recall. Thirtysomething & China Beach way back when, probably. Just awesome.

I agree. I think I cried from the time they put the dog down, until I went to sleep.
Me too! I started bawling during the dog scene. Partly because it was so sad that they had to put him down, but partly because Meredith and Derek were so torn up. I think a lot of that had to do with the fact that Doc was their last "link" to each other. My husband was looking at me like I was nuts because I was sobbing during that scene. Men just don't get it!
I still found Izzy kinda creepy. But I was devestated when Denny died. And when they flashed to her in the elevator, looking so beautiful and happy, totally oblivious... so sad. The scene in his room when Izzy wouldn't get out of the bed... heartbreaking. I was already bawling, but when Alex picked her up and comforted her, I totally lost it. Damn him! Everytime I'm hating his guts, he does something human, and I can't hate him anymore!
I'm glad Christine went to Burke at the end. I was getting really pissed at her.
Loved the scene when George told Cassie that he doesn't love her yet, but to give him time. I love him more and more every week. And I think he looks so much better since the haircut.
The Chief's niece... so sad. I chuckled, though, everytime he ran into the guy that took her "V". And the scene where his wife went off on him.. wow! So she knew about his affair with Meredith's mother all along. No way I could keep silent all those years.
I also thought the scenes where the Chief was questioning the interns separately were hysterical.
Meredith and Derek's tryst ... scorching hot! As Paula said, get me a glass of water ... and throw it on me! I still go back and forth about my feelings for them as a couple, though. Both of their characters have irritated me to no end this season. And I felt bad for Addy and the vet in particular. Especially after the vet told Mer that he hadn't made any plans since his wife died, but he's making plans now that he's met her. But, if Derek doesn't leave Addy now, I hope they drop the whole Meredith/Derek storyline, because it's getting old. The way he turned away from Meredith when she walked by him, made me think he intends on hiding this from Addy and going on like nothing had happened. (Although by the look on Addy's face when she saw Derek do that, I think she already knows.) Then there was the final scene, which looked like he wants Meredith to come with him. That whole thing left me confused. But I'm getting tired of the back and forth. Make up your wishy-washy minds, damnit!
I don't think Izzy is leaving the show. Different cast members have been talking in interviews about how an intern would "leave the program". But they've been very careful not to say "leaving ths show". In fact, I think in one of those interviews (with the girl who plays Meredith), I think she may have said the actor wasn't necessarily leaving the show. My theory is that next season will begin with Izzy out of the intern program, but eventually, she'll go back. She may have to start over, though.
Finally, I loved it when Alex and George walked Izzy out after she quit. Something about that scene made me cry even more. They were so protective of her.
I'm way to invested in this show, too!

"...cashing in your V card..."
"Where are my suckups? My interns? What are those little ass-kissers up to?"
"George! Ugh! NO I will not go to prom with you!"
Oh! And when Callie walked in on M&D and tied Meredith's dress in back for her before she ran down the hall, then shot Derrick a dirty look! Classic. I also noticed that Callie was with George & the gang the whole time in the ending scenes with Izzy & Denny.

The lady who plays Callie (Sara Ramirez) was on Craig Ferguson last night singing "Fever" with a little jazz 2-piece. HUGE voice. HUGE. I had no idea about her background, but turns out she was in Spamalot too. There's no video from CF yet, but I found these for anyone interested.

And I officially take back my wariness after the first hour of the finale. I was afraid they were going to have lots of patients to deal with after a gun rampage. But, instead they focused on the main characters, which is what I wanted even though I don't like everything they all did.

How are those two things related? Slut is an antiquated, stupid word to judge women if they have sex with someone.
Ugly and clingy are just adjectives. And she is clingy, she was all pissed that george had friends, and that he went to help izzy. She's irrational. Also, I don't think she's real attractive. I think she's fairly unattractive. Also, that isn't the real size of women, it's an unhealthy size of woman. Or, maybe it's both, but it's still heavier than is healthy. And I hate that giant mexiboob look, sorry. And her head is as big as a basketball.
I will say, however, she looked prettier in her prom dress than I thought she was.
And - it looks like she might become cooler soon, so that is good.

Have you looked at America lately? In reality, that IS the size of real women. I am heavier then healthy, and most everyone I know is heavier then the size zero that disgustingly pops up on most of television. I think there is nothing wrong with a little chub. She certainly is not huge.

^ It's not related. Not one bit. But I don't care, them's the rules I'm making.
I just think it's great that there's a voluptuous dark-haired brown-skinned woman on the show who is being represented as a sexy smart woman - not a cleaning lady, not a nurse, not a waitress, not a trophy wife (I'm just using these as examples from other shows, past & present.) She's a physician, and a strong, intelligent, independent woman. And she's full figured, but by no means obese. We both know that weight doesn't = health.
It's a nice change from Meredith & Izzie and their "typical" beauty - blond, very thin, kind of cliquey. Christina is teeny-tiny & Addison is statuesque & raven-haired. Bailey is...Bailey. :D
Bottom line is, I think they're all gorgeous in their own way & I'm glad it's a pretty diverse cast. From what I'm hearing from friends at work, this is the top show for high school kids too. It's good to see different representations of beauty. It's good to see people of any sex, race, nationality, etc. working hard & being smart and successful. It's good to see that the sterotypical blond haired blue eyed people don't have perfect lives.
BTW - I didn't love Callie in the prom dress. Thought her shoulders looked too broad.
OH! Almost forgot to defend her "clinginess." If I told a guy I loved him, and he left the room cuz his friend asked him too, and I didn't know why, I'd be a little pissed too. That's a heavy thing to say (esp. since she later said she had never said it to a guy before) & for him to leave and THEN never call her like he said he would, even to explain what happened? That's hurtful. After she knew what happened, after he explained what was going on, she calmed down & it seems like she's trying to understand their dynamic. So we'll see.

Well, I think there is, and women are that big now because they eat crappily and don't exercise enough. Sorry, I don't think that is a little chub. A little chub is 10 pounds or so. No, of course she isn't HUGE.
And no, everyone shouldn't be a zero. If they're not naturally skinny, they should probably be from a six to a 10 or 12, depending. :wavey:
And, I hate also that people think it's okay to tell Meredith to eat something (she's naturally thin, says she's had to eat extra all her life to keep her weight up) but get all het up when someone says Callie needs to put a burger or two down.
Everyone can do what they want, but I'm not going to pretend I think it's okay for people (including myself) to be too overweight and unhealthy just because many women are. I don't think the standard for health needs to be lowered just cause people aren't meeting it, in other words. I'm not going to celebrate something that isn't good for people, even if it does help their self esteem. I don't think people should feel bad about themselves if they are heavy, but I also don't think they should feel that it's okay to neglect their health. This country has a horribly high percentage of obesity in adults and children, and the corresponding diabetes and other dangerous health problems that go with it. With all the resources, choices, and education at our disposal, it's ridiculous that we are this unhealthy as a country.
No, you don't have to look like most people on TV. My normal size is an 8, and I'm perfectly happy with that because I know it is my normal size when I am in shape and not carrying much extra weight.

I don't find Meredith a loveable person at all. Maybe she needs to eat more in order to not have that confused look on her face all the time:lol:
I do agree with Callie's prom dress. The wardrobe people should have found a dress that looked great on her. She is a gorgeous girl and they should have spent more time looking for a dress. She would have looked great in a red dress like Addison's.

It's just a term Amber. And it fits Meredith very well. It would be different if she just slept with some "ONE". I'm not sure if we can even count the number on one hand this season alone. At least Derrick has limited it to his wife and Meredith.
Besides, Paula said it was okay to call her a slut and that's reason enough for me

I don't think the term means anything. I think it's wrong to judge people for who, how many, when, where, etc. people they sleep with, but you just did. You seem to think it's wrong for women to sleep with a lot of people. I don't. And I think it is wrong to judge anyone on how many people they've slept with, male or female. And then you go on to make another strange judgement - Derrick is married, he slept with someone outside his marriage. Just because he slept with less people, you think he's better than Meredith. Good lawd.
I can't believe in this day and age people still judge others by who they sleep with, how many, etc. It's totally pointless, and it's offensive, IMO. It's just a Madonna/Whore pidgeonhole for women, when women are neither, or all, of those things besides so very, very, very many more things, and those are the things you should judge people on. The content of their character, not one aspect of their sexuality.
Seriously. Are we in the dark ages?

You don't get it. Just the fact that you used that word as if sleeping with multiple people is bad shows what kind of judgments you make on people and for what reasons. For instance, the word "slut" never entered my mind once in regards to Meredith, and actually I've never used that word in my life.
I thought "ooo, you guys shouldn't be sleeping with each other because of Addison" and I thought "Derrick, you're an a-hole, if you want to sleep with someone else, you should let your wife go."
No "slut". It's the whole "equating sex with a bad personality trait" thing.
But, whatever. I mean, it's your prerogative to call people denigrating names if they sleep with someone, I just don't like it. :wavey: So, sorry if I offended you, I just think it's a terrible word to use, when you clearly don't think it's a big deal. What can I say? We disagree.

My 2 cents on the show:
1. Hate Meredith. She always looks sad. She's depressing. Cannot stand that pouty, stunned, deer in the headlight look. and Amber, she is a slut, in my meaning of the word. :wavey:
2. I am so sad that heart dude died :distress: I really liked him.
3. I would so pick McVet over McBighead. I saw him in a interview and he (Dempsey) is weird.
I fell asleep Sunday nite about 10:20 and woke up about 5 to 11 and saw the last 5 miuntes and was stunned when I saw Izzy in bed with dead heart dude. But hubby got me caught up. I am really pissed I missed the sex scene. Damn

You got me. :D Actually, just this morning I was thinking about how GG's season ended, started getting all upset & realized that I'm a big fat liar.

Supernatural can't go to Tuesdays. I am rooting for a CW Gilmore Girls/Veronica Mars Tuesday!
I'm pissed because they're putting Grey's up against CSI. Like, hi. Let's put two of the top ten shows against one another and watch what happens when audiences split. Idiots.

^ Alright, you whiner. ;) Just move Supernatural to somewhere else, it doesn't have to be Tuesdays. Happy now?!?!
Did you finally watch GG finale? PM me your thoughts when you get a chance.
