So, I went to see this last night and I have to say I enjoyed it. In fact, I'd say I like it better than the original. There were lots of surprises that even I didn't pick up on. Of course, there was a little cheese factor and some "oh, whatever" parts, but for the most part it was quite enjoyable. And Mr. Wahlberg impressed me as well...

Wow, that surprises me. I thought it was a general rule that sequels never hold up to the original. And seeing I loved Saw, I was afraid that Saw 2 would be no exception to the rule. But hearing this, I might be wrong. Can't wait to see it now. :)

one of the reasons I liked it better than the original is because it seemed to flow more easily between scenes. the camera work in the first 30-45 mins does leave a little something to be desired. I like the storyline, for the most part and the "traps" were seemingly creative.

I just saw it with a few friends and it blew the first one away, especially in the acting department (thankfully). I must say, though, it was ****ing brutal. B-R-U-T-A-L. Gory as hell and stomach-churning quite often. There is one scene in particular about halfway through that I could not handle. It has to be one of the most horrifying scenes I've ever seen in a movie and I doubt anyone who watches it won't be stunned and horrified.

I never saw the ending coming, either. A much better "twist" than the ending to the first. And it looks darn good for a low-budget horror movie.

The first came to a screeching halt as soon as it left the room the two men were trapped in. What I liked about the sequel was that the scenes outside the house were almost as suspenseful as the scenes inside the house. Of course, the entire premise is utterly ridiculous and would be laughable if you weren't so preoccupied with trying not to piss your pants and shielding your eyes from the disgusting and perverted things playing on the screen. The makers of this one are some scuzzy mother****ers.

That's the scene I was talking about!! It was way too much for me, I almost vomited the popcorn I had eaten. I could hear tons of people groaning, so I take comfort in the fact that I wasn't only one seriously disturbed by that.

Did they show the trailer for that movie "Hostel" when you saw it? I won't be seeing that one, it looks too fecking gross.

Ted Danson's show "Becker." She was also in the remake of "The Blob" back in the eighties and Stephen King's "The Stand."

That whole movie was grusome....beginning to end. Loved every minute of it. My cousin wants me to go with him to see it tomorrow and i just might.....

It looks HORRID!!!!!

SPOLIER

As for Saw II - I sort of figured it out when he went to beat the hell out of John. I was like YOU FOOL - he is trying to get you to take him away from there. Also, when Matthews went down the trap door, where did that syringe come from - it was not there when Xavier went down to chase the other two. So, I knew something was up with that. Finally, I knew John would not be so stupid as to not realize the signal could be traced relatively easyily and come on, it took them that long to do it

All in all, the needle scene was the trippiest to me and the movie itself was a solid B.

I watched this one through my fingers for the most part. It's just too damn gory. :distress:

And Hostel? Looks absolutely disgusting. The shot of the young man tied to the chair, crying and pleading was enough to give me nightmares for a month.

Okay, so I want to see this movie so bad, I rented the first Saw and really liked it, but what does that say about me? I mean, I was at my brother-in-law's this past weekend and he said that he and my sister-in-law went and saw "Dreamer" (about the race horse) and he said it was really good and that we should go see it, and then I said, "I want to go see "Saw II" and he looks at me with such shock and disgust  like I had two heads, and he said "Why would you want to go see a movie like that?" I mean, why do I like to watch people be tortured in this way? I know it's about the psychological thing and stuff and I guess the gore part just goes along with it, but are we sick and deranged? along with the other kazillion people that went to see this movie this past weekend and made it #1, so at least I'm not alone.

Now I haven't read this thread in fear of spoiler's, so maybe this has already been discussed.

I really liked both Saw movies too so you're definitely not alone. However, I did get the same reaction from my mom when I told her I went to see Saw 2 last weekend. She was like, "what kind of disturbed person likes movies like that?" I don't think I'm weird though just because I like gory movies.
