View Full Version : Do you blog?

Blogging has become so big...I remember about 5 or 6 years ago I had friends who kept online journals and I thought it was cool so I tried to do it and, as usual, couldn't keep it up...then I start seeing Pink Is The New Blog (my personal favorite) and Towleroad popping up and blogging has taken over in so many ways...do you blog? why or why not?

maybe I should give it another try...

I've never done it. Mostly because I know I wouldn't keep it up, and because absolutely nothing exciting ever happens to me. That being the case, I know it wouldn't be very interesting for anyone else to read and I certainly wouldn't want to go back and relive my mundane existence. :wavey:

so true.

there is one blog of a guy in Tiawan, I believe, who is apparently rich off his ass and has a fondness for dropping $13K on a Birkin bag...wears women's clothes daily and has no problem posting the receipts from his LV, Prada and Gucci shopping sprees. Makes me want to puke - I wish I could remember the name or address...I kinda feel bad for him; he just looks so ridiculous.

$13,000? I saw a Birkin bag on Gilmore Girls, Rory got one from her BF and her grandmother was all over it. Are they really that much? They must have paid a pretty penny for their product placement. (No that alliteration was not intentional but I love it!)

they really are that much. I know that in some instances you have to even be put on a list. I love them, but there's no way I'm shelling that out. The most I've paid is $200 for a Prada messenger and $450 on a Gucci.

D&G stilettos? Too great. I love randomness such as this. And to answer your question about blogs, I do not blog. I find them awfully yawn inducing. But hey...if it helps people express themselves...what's the harm?

me too - unless they have good pictures (how childish is that?!)

although, if you liked the book The Trouble Boy, then you'll love reading the blog, Shades of Gray. he talks about his quest for that ultimate partner and it is very good reading - short, sweet and leaves you thinking about your own life experiences.

Crap, I'm Joan Crawford, too. I really don't like her.

"You are one tough dame, as tough as they come. You've had to fight long and hard to get where you are, but you always knew you'd do whatever you had to do to get ahead. You aren't above committing crimes (or seducing others to do them for you) to get what you want. You want to be happy and comfortable, but you usually always manage to get the fuzzy end of the lollipop. Even your kids are usually against you. Your leading men include anyone you set your sights on, even married guys that are never seen on-screen. Watch your back."

I'm also John Wayne:

" You, my friend, are a man's man, the original true grit, one tough talking, swaggering son of a bitch. You're not a bad guy, on the contrary, you're the ultimate good guy, but you're one tough character, rough and tumble, ready for anything. You call the shots and go your own way, and if some screwy dame is willing to accept your terms, that's just fine by you. Otherwise, you'll just hit the open trail and stay true to yourself. You stand up for what you believe and can handle any situation, usually by rushing into the thick of the action. You're not polished and you're not overly warm, but you're a straight shooter and a real stand up guy. Co-stars include Lauren Bacall and Maureen O'Hara, tough broads who can take care of themselves."

You scored 28% Tough, 23% Roguish, 14% Friendly, and 33% Charming!
You're a helluva guy, a real split personality and a bit of an enigma. On the one hand, you're a man's man, tough talking and ready for anything. But on the other hand, you soften your rough and tumble core with a disarmingly smooth exterior, and you make the ladies swoon. You're equally admired by both men and women alike, drinking other men under the table all the while charming the socks off half a dozen lovelies. You're a commanding presence, and you know how to get what - and who - you want when you want it. You're drawn to women who, like you, are savvy enough to deal with the world on their own terms. You work well with spitfires. Leading ladies include Joan Crawford, Myrna Loy, and Jean Harlow. No damsels in distress for you.

My test tracked 4 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:

You scored higher than 51% on Tough

You scored higher than 63% on Roguish

You scored higher than 21% on Friendly

You scored higher than 63% on Charming

Wow. So...what do you write? Does something happen to you every day? Or do you just write down whatever you are thinking about?
Everytime I go to write something, I either can't think of anything, or what I do think of, I don't want other people to see. Or it's totally boring, so I really don't want people to see it. And if I did have something interesting, well, you can't really tell if anyone is going to read it.

You would be surprised at how many people would read. I now get something like 200 hits a day, which is so wild to me because I really am not that interesting. I started out writing online because I was dealing with infertility, so I got a lot of people reading that way. I've met real friends online through my journal- I was even in someone's wedding 2 years ago!! I used to keep a paper journal, but I've never been able to stick with it. I have been totally faithful to keeping an online journal, and I like the fact that I can look back at my life- I've even posted pictures. Someday I'll be glad, I'm sure.

oops - I pulled that off of some lyric website - thanks!!!!

On edit - at least six sites say it is MacArthur's Park - I must have transcribed it wrong. Oh well, blame it on the hangover

No worries. As much **** as this song gets for worst song ever. I love it. Donna tears it up and I also have it my iPod and always on one of my workout playlists.

Here's the full lyrics from popculturemadness.com:

MacArthur Park

Written by: Jimmy Webb
Sung by: Richard Harris or Donna Summer, equally silly.

Spring was never waiting for us, girl
It ran one step ahead
As we followed in the dance
Between the parted pages and were pressed
In love's hot, fevered iron
Like a striped pair of pants

MacArthur Park is melting in the dark
All the sweet, green icing flowing down
Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'Cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, no!

I recall the yellow cotton dress
Foaming like a wave
On the ground around your knees
The birds, like tender babies in your hands
And the old men playing checkers by the trees

MacArthur Park is melting in the dark
All the sweet, green icing flowing down
Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'Cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, no!

[break]

There will be another song for me
For I will sing it
There will be another dream for me
Someone will bring it
I will drink the wine while it is warm
And never let you catch me looking at the sun
And after all the loves of my life
After all the loves of my life
You'll still be the one

I will take my life into my hands and I will use it
I will win the worship in their eyes and I will lose it
I will have the things that I desire
And my passion flow like rivers through the sky
And after all the loves of my life
After all the loves of my life
I'll be thinking of you
And wondering why

[break]

MacArthur Park is melting in the dark
All the sweet, green icing flowing down
Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'Cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, no!
Oh, no
No, no
Oh no!!

We should probably just be ready to kick, in case we have to.

because you never know when lesbians may attack.

OMG. That is totally what I thought when I read the first line. God knows, when you go out you need another John Wayne type with you for security.

Cig. in hand with cocktail raised :wavey:

It is probably a real good thing we all don't live in the same city. We would get into so much trouble.

LOL that whole cake out in the rain lyric left people wondering. There is actually a discussion group on it on the web  Here it is http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=1875&

and here is the site where I got Mac Arthur's Park http://www.lyriczz.com/lyriczz.php?songid=8287 which says the actual and complete lyrics from that site are:

Donna Summer
MacArthur Park

Spring was never waiting for us till
it ran one step ahead
as we followed in the dance.

Between the parted pages
we were pressed,
in love's hot, fevered iron
like a striped pair of pants.

Mac Arthur's Park is melting in the dark
all the sweet green icing flowing down
someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'cause it took so long to bake it
and I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, nooo!

I recall the yellow cotton dress
foaming like a wave
on the ground beneath your knees
birds like tender babies in your hands
and the old men playing
Chinese checkers
by the trees

Mac Arthur Park's is melting in the dark
all the sweet green icing flowing down
someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'cause it took so long to bake it
and I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, nooo!

There'll be another song for me
and I will sing it
there'll be another dream for me
someone will bring it
I will drink the wine while it is warn
and never let you catch me
looking at the sun, oh yeah
and after all the loves of my life
after all loves in my life
you'll be the one

I will take my life into my hands
and I will use it
I will win the worship in their eyes
and I will lose it
I will have the things that I desire
and my passion flow
like rivers through the sky
oh and after all the loves in my life
after all the loves in my life
you'll still be the one
and I'll ask myself why.

Mac Arthur's Park is melting in the dark
all the sweet green icing flowing down
someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'cause it took so long to bake it
and I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, nooo!

No worries...I love silliness. The plural for park is park. And when I hear the song I don't hear the MacArthur Parks, I hear MacArthur Park.

But whatever makes you happy, ya know! We can sing however we want, damn it. Actually until I posted the song lyrics, I never knew what the hell she was singing in most of the verses.

Oh I know - the original Park's was my error - it should have been Park.

But, now there is discrepancy in the one you posted "MacArthur" and mine, the possessive, "MacArthur's" -- she sings the latter possessive in the song.

Then one site takes it further and separates "Mac Arthur's" instead of "MacArthur's."

It is all just so confusing, yet beguiling

Also, she sing the FU*K out of that song.

Guilty-as-charged blogger. I've got like 4 of them now - as I get bored with one, I move onto the other. The one I had on http://www.diaryland.com was mainly because it was "trendy" among my friends, and I ended up writing in that one for just over 2 years before I moved onto LiveJournal. Now I have a couple more that I never write in, like the blog that came with my Myspace.

That is interesting. Maybe I will do it. God knows, through no fault of my own, I have a pretty interesting life.

BTW

I am John Wayne with a 95% tough standing

and Barbara Stanwyck at the 93% grit level

I would read it! :wavey:

I blog. Not as frequently as I should, but I do keep it fairly updated. I actually care not one wit who reads it, but I am happy when people do. I use it to keep my writing sharp. I write book reviews twice a month, and I just need to stay in shape. I hope to branch out someday.
Most people would just write without publishing it on the web, but like Stevie The Mad Songwriter Nicks, I have to give it to the world, even if few people actually respond...

Katharine Hepburn
You scored 9% grit, 19% wit, 57% flair, and 19% class!
You are the fabulously quirky and independent woman of character. You go your own way, follow your own drummer, take your own lead. You stand head and shoulders next to your partner, but you are perfectly willing and able to stand alone. Others might be more classically beautiful or conventionally woman-like, but you possess a more fundamental common sense and off-kilter charm, making interesting men fall at your feet. You can pick them up or leave them there as you see fit. You share the screen with the likes of Spencer Tracy and Cary Grant, thinking men who like strong women.

I like that :D
and..

Jimmy Stewart
You scored 19% Tough, 4% Roguish, 52% Friendly, and 23% Charming!
You are the fun and friendly boy next door, the classic nice guy who still manages to get the girl most of the time. You're every nice girl's dreamboat, open and kind, nutty and charming, even a little mischievous at times, but always a real stand up guy. You're dependable and forthright, and women are drawn to your reliability, even as they're dazzled by your sense of adventure and fun. You try to be tough when you need to be, and will gladly stand up for any damsel in distress, but you'd rather catch a girl with a little bit of flair. Your leading ladies include Jean Arthur and Donna Reed, those sweet girl-next-door types.

now, on topic, yeah I blog a little, just started recently on myspace. Not that much a personal journal but rather things from the web that interested me that day.
