From PerezHilton.com

Though we may trade in the commodity of gossip, our real passion is music. And, it's no big secret that one of our idols is Miss Stevie Nicks. We nearly creamed our pants when Lindz told us that she did a cover of Nicks' Edge Of Seventeen for her new album. Not only did Lindsay record the cover with a full orchestra, but she also had Stevie herself sing on the track. Fierceness!!!

Discuss.

Hm.

Does Lindsay Lohan really sing ?

I suppose this could make Stevie some money.

First the natural disasters...now this...oh god, here comes the rapture, well if Stevie played on it it must mean she has some talent because Stevie doesn't associate with talentless hacks.

I was just going to say the same thing.

Haha. GMTA. Seriously though, while the thought of Lindsay Lohan covering Edge of Seventeen makes me cringe, kudos to her for having decent taste. And good for Stevie for embracing all these younger artists that love her and realizing & seizing an opportunity to catch the attention of an audience that she might not otherwise appeal to. Who knows, maybe at some point someone will be introducing themselves on this board saying they were first inspired to check out some of Stevie's stuff because they dug the song on LL's record and wanted to hear the original.

What a bloody horrible song....

I have never heard two voices so unsuited to one another.

Thanks :distress:

Unlike most (all) of you, I think this is awesome. I'm not a huge fan of Lohan, but I did like her "Rumors" song a lot.

I think it's great because it keeps Stevie "out there". And you know Stevie digs it, as she loves to be a role model for young singers. That being said, I have no idea what Lindsey Lohan sings, what she sounds like, or even looks like for that matter. :)

(I love to quote myself)

I was referring to the Jesse Camp "song" in that post, of course.

I have yet to hear a cover of a Stevie song that comes anywhere near the original... still, whatever pays for Stevie to fix up her pool is OK with me.

Oh God...
The least I can hope is it isn't as bad as that Landslide atrocity the Dixie Chicks regurgitated a couple years back. I'd smash every copy of that song and bury it on the Moon if I could. I'm sick of people asking "hey isn't that a Dixie Chicks/Smashing Pumpkins/Tori Amos/Drunk lonely guy at the local karaoke bar song?" Felt like smashing something when I read someone complaining about "some awful country star named "Stevie Nicks" butchering Tori Amos's "Landslide"! :sorry:, I'm ranting again. It's the rain, I tell ya!

When did Tori Amos cover landslide?

When did Tori Amos cover landslide?
she's covered it lots of times. the best version, imo, is from a radio program in Germany I think. go to hereinmyhead.com, diagnosed sounds and there should be several that you can download.

they are awesome. she's also covered dreams.

I have mixed emotions about this. I'm ok with Lindsay...like Rumors and Over...and actually like her Confessions song. BUT, EO17...eh, I don't know...I'll have to hear it.

She used to be a gorgeous, voluptous, red-head with real acting talent on her way to becoming the next Ann Margaret but now she's just a skinny blonde skank with a microphone like all the other clones.

plus she's hell on wheels.

Ooh, perfectly said.

Though, to be honest, I'm interested in hearing this.

Miss Lohan, Hillary Duff and Ashlee Simpson should all be put in a sack and tossed in the river, like the unwanted kittens they are.

I actually love Ashlee's first CD. Her second hasn't made much of an impression on me yet, but the latter part of Ashlee's first CD is really good.

So I'll have finally the great pleasure to hear Lindsay Lohan singing. Oh well, it can be worse than Russell Crowe, and Stevie will redeem the experience.

Well, you know, Stevie is the rock-and-roll fairy godmother, and it is up to her to impart her wisdom to all these up-and-coming young artist. After all, look what it has done for Sheryl Crow, Natalie Maines, Courtney Love and Billy Corgan...

Remember that season of American Idol when that one girl covered EO17, and Paula Abdul told her it was good, but that song is so identified with Stevie Nicks that she should have picked a different song? I think the same advice applies here... Go do Enchanted or Sister Honey or something...

I don't think Lindsay Lohan can pull it off (she was a guest once on Ellen and she was awful) but I have to say that she's got courage to take on Edge.... Nobody in their right mind would :distress:

Well, I, for one, will be disappointed if Stevie does this. Lindsay is like all the other "I try to act, sing, and dance and can't really do any of that" club. It would be like her recording with Jessica Simpson, etc. Stevie is a above all of that, IMO. I think that it brings her down when she records with people like this. It is one thing for Lindsay to hack up "Edge of Seventeen," and it is quite another for Stevie to help her do it. I hope this isn't true! :(

I dunno.

If Jimmy Page will help P. Diddy cover Kashmir, Stevie would help Lindsey Lohan cover EO17.
