you're not missing anything. I counted down the days till they were available in NJ, only to discover that their rates were some $300 above what I was already paying.

not that jersey is a good indicator of auto insurance policy

A thread turned into arguing is better than it dying... isn't it? Mine seem to die rather quickly... cuz they're boring I guess. I don't know what it's like to have one turned into an argument. Oh well... one person's trash is another one's treasure.

Really? I actually saved over half by switching to Geico. I used to pay over $200 a month, and now it's only about $77. But then again, I live in Baltimore City, where claims and vandalism are probably pretty darn high!

I've had State Farm forever - got my house insurance w/ them too, so I get that discount. I also get the burglar alarm discount. No one even comes close to their low rates.

I've had great customer service from Geico. I know that they were cheaper than All State whom I used before them many years ago, now I have no idea how they all compare. But I'd hate to lose that STELLAR service I get from them just to switch to somebody cheaper who couldn't give a rat's ass about helping me when I'm in a jam.

How is State Farms customer service been for anybody?

Well, I wouldn't call their customer service STELLAR but I haven't had crappy service, either. I did run into some twit who wouldn't allow my insurance to pay to have my windows tinted when my car at the time was stolen and later found in Hollywood. But that was just one ignoramus. Other than him, I don't have any complaints.

I switched from Geico because of their customer service...I was very happy with them until I called to ask them a 'hypothetical question' about my insurance and the guy was an assh*le and started to change my policy while I was on the phone, I said "don't change anything, I am just asking hypothetical questions" He said, "m'am there are no hypothetical questions and basically you are admitting that you have cars in more than one state so therefore I must change your policy accordingly" I was like "whoooa, dude, I was just asking a question, I didn't admit to anything!!!"...he said, well your new rate is "$600 more a year" I said "Oh F*ck you!!" and I switched to another insurance agency within 10 minutes and paid less than Geico was initially charging me.

Now of course, I did call Geico customer service to complain about that assh*le and let them know why I was cancelling my insurance. They basically sided with him and said if you have more than one home then most likely your cars are in more than one state. My response was the basically same "F*ck you people!".

No love lost.
