This takes so much stress off of me than the usual tour. I'm glad she's going around to the other countries, while I love to see Stevie--my wallet needed a break, so I am glad I get to just sit back, read reviews, see the pics etc..

I dont think there will be an orchestra with her at all, but that's just my opinion. When asked about the tour the other day, Taku Hirano said that it all depends on who in the band can come (because they dont want to change band members with so little rehearsal time). If they are so stretched for rehearsal time as it is, I cannot see how they would have time to rehearse a show with an Orchestra

Yeah, I don't think I can do 20 hours in coach. A center seat in coach on a three hour flight is my worst nightmare... I can't imagine twenty hours. As much as I love Stevie I don't think I can justify $2000+ for a show. I WOULD like to see Australia though... hmmm.

I already have ticket requests in for 3 shows....2/27, 3/3, and 3/11.
And the dates aren't out yet for Anaheim and San Diego. Only the San Jose looks like it might conflict so far. I want to see all of them and Stevie too, dammit. Be nice to me and maybe I can get an extra ticket for San Jose.

Does first class have beds or something? What all does it have? Is it really that hard to catch catnaps in a coach seat? Bring a book? some music? I don't get it.

Oh, that sucks, Spark. I'm sorry. If you just skipped the 2/27 one you could probably still swing a decent vacay with some Stevie. If you go to San Jose, come pick me up, mmkay? heh.

It depends. Most American airline companies no longer have a true first class on overseas flights and instead have business first. The seats do not make into real beds and instead recline only to about 120 degrees, but BF is still better than the 16 inch wide seat in coach that has ten inches of legroom. Airlines like Singapore Air have the best First Class in the world as evidenced here http://www.singaporeair.com/saa/en_UK/content/exp/cabin/firstclass/index.jsp

I'm kind of claustrophobic... so I have a hard time on long flights in coach... I need to have the aisle seat. Yes, first class has beds, a lot more room, no center seats, food that is actually pretty good, free alcohol, your own video screen, etc.

Wait, there really is BEDS?!?!?! ho, that kicks ass. I now see your point. If I had money, and a long flight, I would never take coach. Sorry for doubting. Although, I, being me, would still go coach, and suffer. I've been on Greyhounds too many times to count, so I can do it. But again, if it wasn't cost prohibitive, I would not take coach for that flight. But I would exchange first class for having more money on my actual vacation, for sure.

I don't think even Stevie could get me to spend 25 hours on a plane. I thought the four hour flight to Las Vegas was torture enough (especially with that fake Prada bag wielding bitch sitting next to me). Call me crazy, but I really just want her to do an album so I can have something new to listen to.

OK...If anyone wants to come out I would love to meet you all out here, possibly even share hotel rooms on the trip. This especially goes for other Aussie lediges who might like to travel the country with me to see all three dates. I was worried I might have to go Cross Country to see her in Perth but by the sounds of it I won't.
Anyone seriously interested PM me.
Count on a PM if the orchestra is confirmed. Have you got any contacts that would be able to confirm an orchestra ?

I am trying to get in contact with the promotions company, I do have a mate who does boxing promotion too so maybe through him I can get some contact but I will find out hopefully within week, but then again this could be confirmed this week

Hah, now you see, I *would* consider the 25 hour flight (and hey, I am with amber, I won't spend three times more on plane tickets just to have a little more leg space. I flew to LA two years ago, coach, and it was fine, even with it being an 11 hour flight), it's just that I'd have to book *now* in order to get the 'cheap' ticket and I don't have money *now* (cause I need to pay for my NYC plane tickets for next summer). :blob2: Nor do I have someone to go with me. Mari? David? Anyone from this side of the world? :xoxo:
Oh, I first want to find out whether there is going to be an orchestra. If not, I think I will wait until she tours the States. Closer, and easier to find places to crash. :D

Yeah, I don't think I can do 20 hours in coach. A center seat in coach on a three hour flight is my worst nightmare... I can't imagine twenty hours. As much as I love Stevie I don't think I can justify $2000+ for a show. I WOULD like to see Australia though... hmmm.

But it wouldn't just be about seeing Stevie! If I could make it work, I'd plan on staying for about a week and only attending one show. The rest of the time I'd try to explore the city and pack in as much touristy stuff as possible. There's so much else to do! I've always wanted to go to Australia... missed an opportunity to go with a school group a few years ago because I didn't have the money. Since then I have never really had an excuse to just pick up and go, either with friends or by myself. It's hard to just randomly plan that kind of thing, especially with other people. But if you do it in the context of some kind of event it gives you something to work around, y'know? Seeing Stevie perform in Australia would be the pretext, but it would be secondary to the actual trip if that makes sense. At least for me.
I think that's the big reason why so many people came from all over for the Dreams "tour." The shows were an excuse to go but in the end Vegas is such a tourist attraction and there's so much to do there that many people make regular trips there or would have liked to go at some point anyway, regardless of whether she was playing.
Oh, and I would only go if the orchestra is really going to be involved or if these shows are somehow different. Otherwise, even though the concert wouldn't be my main focus, I would just save my money and keep the trip on my "list of things to do someday that may or may not ever actually happen" for some other possible occasion when I could spend more time there.

Yeah, I dunno. Originally that seemed to be the whole purpose for her going down there, because she was invited to perform with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. She talked about re-arranging her songs specifically for that reason on the radio. Maybe that has changed. When she first mentioned it, I pictured something similar to the Vegas "Dreams" shows where she would set up camp and do a series of concerts at a single venue (wherever the home of the MSO was) rather than tour all of Australia. Now it sounds like the orchestra component is up in the air and it may just be an Australian leg of this summer's Gold Dust Tour. Or maybe it will be that plus just one special performance with the orchestra (I would venture a guess at Rod Laver Arena, since that is part of the park where they play.) Hopefully the news will keep coming.

Things to see in Sydney: Olympic Stadium, Sydney Tower, where they have like 3 different levels of dining about 90 stories above the ground. Also, the Blue Mountains about 100 miles west of Sydney are a must see. You can take a tour there or go by yourself.
Things to see in Melbourne. ABout an hour away is The Great Ocean Road, without question the most spectacular oceanside drive I've ever been on, including 101 in Cali. I spent 2 weeks there in 2001. Absolutely the best vacation I've ever been on.
