I have grown to love this song a whole lot over the years. It rocks. Do the lyrics make much sense? Nah. But who cares? There are moments of brilliance here, people!

"You used to call me wicked"

"when you lose your sight
and suddenly...the day comes"

"everything around me is electric now
but I haven't burned a candle in a real long time
and only when your heart says it's over does it die
well love is like a river...running...
straight back to the sea!"

Oh, And "Uptight out of sight" is so bad it's good.

The upbeat music kicks. I would not like this song nearly as much if it were a slower tempo. Live? Sure, I'd take it if she'd do it.

ah, my song. my lovely song. Finally, it's here. <3.
I think I would have perished had I never in my life heard stevie sing these words:

"You used to call me wickeyd!
I used to call you friend!"

and I love the whole song.

"REMEMBAH!!!"

I also believe that nearly every end of a phrase in that song needs an exclamation point, and I enjoy that quality.

I hope that was an example of employing hyperbole. Otherwise your standards of brilliance are far too low, madame. :xoxo:

I voted "Middle of the night."

One of my favorite songs on 'Street Angel,' and just a favorite in general.

I think it's "out of sight, out of sight, baby."

OK, my sarcasm may have been peeping out a bit with the use of that specific term. But I still love those lyrics.

I despise this song. And the background vocals make me want to hurt things.

Most background vocals in her solo songs have that effect on me. I turn into Cujo when I hear them in most of her songs.

there's nothing like the backing vocals on the "cleaning lady" version of "Sara", however, that makes me want to kill....

But this has the ultimate in violence-inducing background vocals, wouldn't you say? But I agree, Sharon and Lori (and Mindy and whoever) needed to be less present on many of Stevie's songs.

i like it for the long 'ohhhh' note sung with such wild abandon before the 'everything around me is electric now' part. The back-up vocals i think took away from some of the hard-edged singing i wish Stevie would do a LOT more of. i miss it. and i think at the end, it would have been brilliant for her to segue into Mr. Stevie Wonders 'everything is all right, up tight, out of sight' song, and even made myself a tape of it mixed at the end of 'Love is Like A River' and it sounded great but would've been greater with Ms. Nicks singing it!

You know, I never listened to this song until one day one of my friends was like "You gotta listen, I love this song!" So, I did, and I fell in love with it! Definitely a favorite on Street Angel!

Yeah, the background vocals are awful.

However, if you wipe those out this song is blistering. I love the lyrics. I love how she's pissed off.

"You must many things to remember
Oooh, because nothing else in your life has really changed..."

And I love the vocal scream before the slow burn bridge.

And the-

"I think you're uptight lady...ooh, out of sight
That's just what I wanted to hear!!"

For Street Angel, this is good stuff.

Not really my cup of tea.
