Doing the best that I can!!! I feel it has powerful music, and revealing lyrics. this song has given me some strength at times. This cd is one of my favs, most of these were tough votes.

There are 3 songs reasons I initially fell in love with Stevie - Stand Back, Rooms on Fire, and I Can't Wait. For me to feel so passionately about 3 songs by the same artist says a lot since I'm usually more of a song person as opposed to an artist person (if that makes sense).

This is really difficult to put into words...There are certain songs that I listen to that take me to another world and have an extremely powerful affect on me when I hear them. ROF is one of these songs. It's a fantasy song and it tells a story of a woman who finds true love (even though she thought she never would) but he dies and before she does and she has to live the rest of her life without him. Not only do I love the story that Stevie tells but I have my own story that can be told through the lyrics of ROF. "She had trusted many, and then there would be someone who would enter into her presence..." That's what's great about Stevie's songs - they often tell a story and we have an idea of what some of them are about but then I make my own story out of them so they have a personal significance.

Without going into too much detail this was a song I introduced to someone who I still love very much. The relationship has ended but she is the kind of woman who sets the rooms on fire every time she walks in them and this was my song for her.

I happen to love the video and I don't care how cheesy it is! It's so romantic and over the top silly but it tells a beautiful story. I love the fairy-tale aspect of it and the big party and the red dress and the dancing on the pool. I could go on and on but I won't.

The song maybe overly romantic and the video cheesy, but it just reminds me of the summer when The Other Side Of The Mirror came out, and seeing the video on MTV all the time and how thrilling it was to go and get the album the day it came out. It might be nostalgia but I still get a thrill when I hear it.
Funnily enough, Doing The Best That I Can and Rooms On Fire are my favourites on that album, so it was cool for me at least to see them both as the final two.
I love the video. It's as romantic as the song is. Those shots of Stevie at the mic with the black dress are super sexy.

I'm so glad the song was not ruined for you and you still listen to it! That would be a real bummer to have a bad relationship ruin a song you adore so much. There have been songs I couldn't listen to for a while if they were closely related to a relationship that didn't end so well but for the most part after a brief period of time I can listen again. Another thing I realized is that the meaning of certain songs I love changes over time as I associate them with new memories.
