They're back...and sounding just FANTASTIC!!!

Their CD & DVD sets from their 4 night stand at the Royal Albert Hall back in May are now out and will be playing a 3 night stand at Madison Square Garden starting Monday.

The greatest power-trio in Rock history is back...(to paraphrase Dave Mason)...like they never left.

never heard of 'em (Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker & Eric Clapton)...Nope never heard of the original power-trio...Not one single song such as "Sunshine of Your love" or "White Room".

Are they a new band?

I posted awhile back about the upcoming New York gigs, which are their only (For now) US gigs.

Have you purchased the CD and DVD sets yet? I was wondering if they were as fabulous as the rave reviews that I have read about them. After I read those reviews, I went to Borders and looked at the sets. Nice packaging, but I just wanted to hear more about them first before I purchased them. You know how reviews can be. I wanted to hear it from someone I know and trust.

They're back...and sounding just FANTASTIC!!!I remember the first line to the song "White Room"!!

Powerful song ... very hippieish & drugged, like something the Manson family might have listened to on their way to a slaughtering.

ah the Manson family, My late Mother's favorite reading topic...I have a large library now of the Manson family books along with books about the Green River Killer, the JFK assissination, Son-Of-Sam and other interesting conspiracies/murders.

My Mother would always call me to let me know when "Helter Skelter" would be on the TV...Weird **** if ya ask me.

Now back to Cream...Does it make your coffee taste better or is it an ol' 70' rock magazine (Creme)???

I can't have too much, it doesn't sit well in my stomach and wreaks havoc on the arteries.

about 10 years ago, i saw Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker at a very small club show in charlotte.....wow....Ginger looked like he might fall over and die at any moment. They were phenomenal! I'm glad that prat Eric Clapton wasn't with them. He irks me like no other.

Chili where have you been? I made a post about this two weeks ago I think. I literally took the day off work to buy the Cream DVD, and went home and watched it with some jack-n-coke. When I was in line at Best Buy to buy the DVD, one of the guys that worked in the store who was obviously quite older than me, says "who is Cream?" I just said "Uh...they were before your time." He just looked at me bewildered.

I got the CD (and also was also able to find a "nearly-good-as-official" sounding soundboard bootleg, from just ONE of the nights, too). OMIGOD! Don't hesitate...get back to Borders and drop the cash-ola! WORTH EVERY PENNY AND THEN SOME!! These guys are over 60?!?! You'd never know it by listening to them. The only difference between how they sound NOW as to THEN is that they sound like they're playing TOGETHER AS A UNIT now instead of just taking off on stoned-out, self-absorbed, never-ending solos (which I used to love, but then I was in the same condition)...they complement each others solos, they intertwine their solos with each others playing. It is just so weird to think that they HAVEN'T been playing together (except for the 3 song performance at their R&RHoF induction) for the past 37, that's right THIRTY-SEVEN, years!!! They sound like they HAVE been rehearsing 8 hrs a day, 7 days a week for the past 37 years.

I've seen clips (on-line) of two or three whole songs from the DVD...LOOKS great!!! On the DVD you get an extra song ("Sitting On Top Of The World") that is not on the CD...as well as bonus alternate performances of 6 songs from their set from other nights of the 4 night stand.

Oh. I must've missed seeing it due to the Ann Coulter-fest that seems to have been happening around here. :D

Thanks for all the info! It is much appreciated. I'm just glad to know that the reviews were true. I will definitely be on my way to Borders to purchase it; now that I have talked to you.

After we have a chance to absorb all of it, we'll have to talk about it.

Well, I LOVE Cream (and the subsequent Blind Faith). I've seen a lot of footage from the band. But, I don't have any direct memories of Cream, as they split about five years before I arrived.
