Did I spell her name right lol?

Lets all talk about her now. From what I remember she was really nice, then there were some troll problems in the late 90s, ???

She did a great job answering all of our fan letters and stalker emails. I remember like in 1998 I emailed her saying I would donate my organs to medical research if Stevie sings Seven Wonders again live. Her response to me was: "Deary I organize organ transplants for a living". I honestly had no idea she did that:lol: !, ooopps! Talk about putting my foot in my mouth!

I wasn't around back then, so I would love a recap of the story.

Me too.

The foot-in-the-mouth thing reminds me of years ago when a friend's boyf rang her from his army barracks... she talked a little.. then was like "oh my god!" In the background I was talking to someone else, heard her and was like "what, is he being sent to Somalia!?" (haha) And she looked at me and said "yeah."

Turned out he wasn't. He was a creeep, shacked up with someone else but rang my friend "from Somalia".. altho he was in next town with another woman.

Anyway, tell us about ths woman who dealt with the stalker emails etc.

I thought it was spelled Kimeno, but whatever -lol. She wrote a couple of 2 page letter responses to my aunt in the 80's. She always seemed nice.

I think Ginny had a serious car accident and there were also some rumours that she wasn't really doing as good a job as everyone thought and so she has ceased her work.

Someone correct me if I got that wrong...but I think that's what I remember.

Yeah, what she said.

I came onto the internet scene toward the "end of the Ginny days"....so all I know that she upset a lot of fans and started acting crazy....but I still haven't figured out what really happened.

There are three side to every story, "her side", "his side" and "the truth". We may never know.

Well she was a great fan mail lady, and you're right she was very good about responding and often sending signed pics of Stevie and other things. Then she had the car accident and never came back. Who knows what really happened during that. She obviously got kind of crazy, and "trolled" various message boards, esp. the Newsgroups...and that's pretty much all she wrote.

Stevie is apparently still friends with her, as many fans have seen her backstage at Stevie shows over the years and in the audience in as well

There's really not much of a STORY to be told about Ginny. She took Stevie's fan mail, and email for years and would respond. If you sent a letter to her, to give to Stevie she often would. In the beginning she would send out a lot of signed pics from Stevie and things like that. She definetely was always a little odd in my opinion, and I only came into the community toward the end of her "career." However I did correspond with her through email a lot. The best thing about her really was she gave the best "inside info" on what Stevie would be doing, and stuff.
She had a car accident, went even more wacko, quit her job (or got fired who knows) and that's about all she wrote!

Wwweeellll... This is what I remember:

I recall a woman named Esther who started out on The Enchanted email list back when Michael Stephens ran it (c. 1998.) During one of that list's infamous battles, she got kicked off. Then she started posting on the alt.stevie.nicks newsgroup and promptly made a few friends and more enemies over there. Just about the time "Esther/Essie" "disappeared" along came "Ginny" on the newsgroup. Speculation was that Esther learned how to change names on her AOL account and was posting as Ginny because they both had very similar posting personalities. Actually, Esther was thought to have used several account names at the newsgroup. The real Ginny stopped being the email answer lady (remember her website cafe kamano?) right around the time Esther started posting under other names at the alt.stevie.nicks, so she had everyone believing she really was Ginny at first, but then she started weirding out and I think that's how people came to believe that the real "Ginny" weirded out. Esther lived in the same town as I do. She and I were supposed to meet up a couple of times. The first time she didn't show, she emailed me and said she'd gotten too drunk and couldn't find the place. The second time, she met up with some guy named Jeff and both of them blew me off. (where's that smiley with the middle finger?) ;)

Personally, I emailed the real Ginny a half-dozen times and found her to be a very compassionate person. What happened was that with the release of the Enchanted box set and tour and more people on the internet, she got hammered with Stevie email. She did it all on a volunteer basis, for years. And I believe she worked in the health care field. Her daughter got married on Maui and the car accident, all happened just before she quit. Right around that time is when John was really ramping up nicksfix. Next thing you know, Ginny posted her resignation notice and said that John was going to be handling more of the day to day informational postings to do with Stevie's career, etc. Lo and behold nicksfix became "official." Not long after that Silver Springs Emporium closed and things as we knew it changed forever.... :distress: I miss those days, it was a simpler time... (can you hear the Mayberry RFD theme song whistle in the background?)

So that's what I remember about Ginny. I hope she is doing well. I honestly believe she was and still is a good person. Her "room" is posted over on the nicksfix. She also sees Stevie backstage when she's in town. Last I heard was at the Sun Theater in Anaheim. There may have been others. And I seem to recall Stevie went to her daughter's wedding.

Ginny & her cronies from bellsouth.net destroyed the Stevie Nicks newsgroup, which had just been created a few years before, by trolling & harassing the regs into fleeing.

No problem. When it comes to stuff like the Ginny controversy, I feel a need to express and my feelings about stuff like this are usually right. If I can neutralize any bad vibes going out on someone I feel is right with the universe, then I do it because I can't not.

Absolving is not the same as neutralizing. I simply stated the facts as I knew them based on my own experiences and gut feeling of the people involved. By the way, is your middle name Al? I didn't trace anyone's IP address... did you? I wouldn't know how to verify that it was the Real Ginny's IP address even if I had traced it. I would never believe it really was Ginny trolling and harrasing unless a legitimate person like John Kinney stated that Ginny freaked out and was let go. Eegad the Nyquil is really kicking in... I hate having the flu. :]

i totally agree with everything you have posted... i have met Ginny after stevie shows a few times over the years and she is such a nice, sweet lady. even though I myself never traced an ip address to prove that it wasn't her, i find it very hard to believe that she is as crazy as so many people claim.

Well I for one have never met Ginny in person. But a few years back, I would email back and forth with her from time to time, and she was very friendly and funny. And never seemed "mentally disturbed" as some people have written about. From the Ginny I knew, it's like they are talking about some completely different person. So I don't for one minute think she was ever what these people have said she is or has done. She's done alot of good for the fans and she had to put up with alot of crap from other fans. And because of those people, its ashame we don't have her anymore.

Yah, I kinda wondered at one point... one of her posts/emails/something somewhere mentioned that she was having to work more hours and getting kinda tight on money, had less time for fan mail, after all it was voluntary and the type of mail she was starting to get, etc. made me think maybe she was getting a little fed up with the whole deal, somehow. Then when everything shifted over to John, seemed rather abrupt. I wondered if she was gonna be kinda pissed or whether she knew it was coming, asked for it to happen or what. So I have to admit, there was a small part of me that wondered whether at least some of the newsgroup ramblings really were her, but then again... she did say she was ready to be done with it and move on. It's just whether she was pissed about it or not and if so, was she pissed enough to rag in the newsgroups. After so many years, it must have been hard to "move on." I tend to want to think of her as being more evolved, from my experience with her and still being associated with Stevie and all. At least compared to the other person mentioned earlier, she didn't strike me as being very evolved at all. And the comment about "bloodsucking" websites should have had more elaboration by the person who posted it. If that really was Ginny, I'm thinking it may have been in reference to the ones who were selling bootlegs and crap like that. Another thing about this whole IP tracing deal, most people were on dial up back then. I contacted my service provider around that time about tracing IPs and was told they were static. Every time you dial up you get a new IP number, so someone can trace the IP address you're using at that time, but the next time it would be different. At any rate, I'm not one to judge people so easily and I still say Ginny is a decent person and find it hard to believe she was such the rag that she was portrayed as being. You know, I've probably contributed more text to this one thread than any other thread I've participated in since being on this board.

I was posting on a MB a few years ago, and someone got upset with me and "traced my IP number" - except that it came up as somewhere in Colorado - and I'd never been there.

I exchanged a couple of e-mails with Ginny and she was very sweet and friendly.
I have discovered that it's really easy to "change hats" and make up any name - heck, I could call myself Stevie and have many of you convinced!! The IP tracking this, as I said, is not reliable....

A static IP is an IP address that never changes. You're thinking of a dynamic IP, which most dial-up IPs are. With those you can trace the city it's coming from, but that's basically it.
These days, with so many people on broadband, an IP address is easy to trace, unless it's AOL, then all it will trace back to is one of their 4-6 addresses, and give you a city of where that IP is located.
Just info from a techie. :wavey:

Leaving aside for a moment the question of GK's sanity, I recommend the following page to all interested parties:

http://home.att.net/~marjie1/usenet.htm

Usenet headers are not the same thing as IP addresses (although they generally contain them along with posting hosts). GK's various guises were identified through an examination of newsgroup post headers, as well as evidence collected from e-mail headers, the e-mail messages themselves, & various other bits of evidence such as taped telephone conversations & testimony from witnesses in the witness protection program.

DNA evidence was not collected.
