The best news of the day for me (http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory?id=1210334)! He truly deserves it, his plays made me love theatre even more and many of his screenplays are touching and insightful. He describes the second part of '900 with a truthfulness that few others are able to express, IMO. I'm really happy for him. :o

Thanks for posting. I will have to look into him as I haven't read any of his works yet!

Thanks for posting. I will have to look into him as I haven't read any of his works yet!

Hope you'll like his works. Some of my favourites:
Plays:
The Birthday Party
The Caretaker (that became also a beautiful movie)
The Room
The Dumb Waiter
Celebration
Moonlight
Betrayal (the film is very good too)
The Hothouse

Movies
The Servant (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0057490/)
The Last Tycoon (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074777/)
The French Lieutenant's Woman (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082416/)
Besides he also wrote a wonderful screenplay for The Remains of The Day, but Ivory didn't have the guts to use it.

He also likes to be an actor every now and then, and sometimes he gives very powerful performances, like recently in Wit (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0243664/) or The Tailor of Panama (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0236784/)
