Up against the wall, mother****ers!! The human dream doesn't mean **** to a tree!

Jefferson Airplane all the way. One of my favorite bands. Forget Janis, forget Stevie, forget Ann, forget them all, because Grace Slick was the original rock chick.

The Doors royally suck; I've never liked them. Pretentious as all get out.

Jefferson Airplane. I'm not in love with them, but I used to have Surrealistic Pillow, and Grace Slick is a helluva singer. I don't really like The Doors.

Jefferson Airplane, mostly because Doors and Jim Morrison's poetry bore me deeply.

The Doors all the way.

Morrison... omg the charisma! There ain't nobody like that today, not even close.

His good looks (before the scary Charles Manson looking beard/hair thing) don't hurt either.

The Doors

They were one of the first bands I really got into. They seemed kind of dangerous and forbidden. But then, a lot of things do when you're 10.

I think I had a very brief crush on Jim Morrison, too. Not the Grizzly Adams version though.

Plus the Oliver Stone movie is hilarious.

CREEPY!!!!!!

I can't watch that movie. It's like he's come back to life. Val Kilmer was too good as Morrison.

The Doors. I like them both, but I like the Doors better. I have some Doors bootlegs that are just straight up creepy. They are awesome though. And I love the Doors movie.

Hmm. I own at least a couple of albums from both of these bands, but I can't bring myself to get too excited about either...

Still, I think Jefferson Airplane wins by a long shot for me. Though the Volunteers album in particular sounds increasingly dated, I think the Airplane's music still holds up better than The Doors', who were always just a little too undeservedly pretentious for their own good. It can be difficult to listen to Doors records sometimes without wanting to roll your eyes every few minutes.

I don't think I'll ever understand the continued reverence of Jim Morrison as a cult figure. And while John Densmore may always be remembered as a saint for his efforts to preserve the integrity of the band's music, Krieger and Manzarek's completely shameless money-grubbing has truly tainted whatever legacy of respectability The Doors ever had. Oh well.

Hey... "We Built This City" was a favorite song of mine.

Then again... I think I was all of 5 or 6 years old when that came out.

Somebody needs to do to that song what that bear is doing to the Fox in Estranged's signature.

That song is one helluva guilty pleasure. We can easily pick apart the Starship stuff, but if anyone wants to talk about really bad material, go and listen to their Airplane reunion album for the late eighties.

I like planes...jet aircraft!!

The Doors for me. Both bands could be pretty dark by the standards of the '60s (The Doors more often, I guess), but the Airplane's in-your-face political stuff doesn't work for me. (At least The Doors didn't have that in their music although we all know about those few Morrison stunts on stage). Of course I have problems with the Morrison worship, I don't think he was a great poet or anything. But musically they edge out the Airplane to me.

Come on....
Jim Morrison, the songs, the stories, the drugs, the life altering questions he asked-suggested in his lyrics....????
The hair, the "look"

Loved it then-Love it now....

"Keep you hand on the wheel, your eyes upon the road "(or however the lyrics go- hey, it's 3:00 am here and I am sleepy, but had to post a vote!)
Roadhouse blues...yeah baby.

The DOORS
No contest-IMO, Go Ask Alice is the only Grace Slick tune I like (ducks:laugh: )

I have to think. I love them both. HATE the starship, but love the Airplane. The Doors were one of my first favorite bands. One of my ex boyfriends was a dead ringer for Jim Morrison. I love Gracie. I must meditate on my vote.

Have you heard the new "collaboration" between The Doors and Blondie called "Rapture Riders"? It's trippy.

No, unfortunately. I've only heard clips of it. It's on the new "Best of" package that Blondie's releasing next month; it's got a few new and rare songs on it, including a new techno version of In the Flesh. I can't wait to hear that one. :D

Don't worry, though, I've never really cared for "Little Lies."

Eh, how did I miss this?!

The Doors all the way baby. Jefferson Airplane is not bad, but The Doors...splendid.

Besides, I'd have a hard time choosing who I'd want in my bed, Lindsey Buckingham or Jim Morrison. :]
