This single is very good I'd rate it in her top 5 singles. The subject matter is a bit odd for her .Elvis ,but it is very well crafted and great musically starting out slow and atmospheric and building to an idiosyncratic patented Kate Bush cresendo complete with whoosing layered backround vocals that blend in with the instruments.I wouldn't say it's quite as ground breaking as Wuthering Heights or Running up that Hill but is good enough to be not disappointing at all.The new album is a double with the 2nd disc as a concept album I would guess similar to the Ninth Wave on Hounds of Love.I know Kate is really in it for the art so I am so looking forward to this one. :blob2: The single is available on Napster and iTunes for download in the U.S.

2nd October 2005: As expected, a few mentions in this morning's UK Sunday papers. The Observer has an article entitled "Comeback Kate" by Barbara Ellen: "We've had a sneak preview of her new album, and can assure you - it's been worth the wait... I'm allowed to listen to one side - I choose the first - so long as I sit in a room at the EMI offices with a man guarding me, presumably in case I try running home with it, thereby committing the crime of trying to listen to an album properly. Despite these shenanigans, first impressions of Aerial are as good as one hoped. It is in fact vintage Bush: a melodic, organic sprawl of wind, sea, seasons, time passing, dreams, secrecy and revelation, all mixed up with a sound that seems to segue smoothly on from The Red Shoes and The Sensual World...Joan of Arc pops up in the stunning, atmospheric 'Joanni'. Most intriguingly, there is a song called 'Bertie' where one hears a whole new Kate Bush - a mature, doting creature both energised and sucker-punched by mother love. 'Where's that son of mine?' sings Kate, adding breathlessly, 'Here comes that son of mine.' I was ready to believe anything by the time I listened to Aerial. What I discovered is that nothing much has changed in Kate Bush's world, except perhaps everything. She's still seething with strangeness and brilliance. Even the fact that she's a mother now isn't likely to change anything. Bush has always written beautiful songs on all manner of themes including motherhood, and will doubtless continue to do so. It's just kind of cute that far from being coy and privacy-obsessed, Bush can't seem to shut up about it. As well as the song one of Bertie's drawings graces the cover of 'King of the Mountain'; he's credited on the sleevenotes as 'The Sun'. Finally, you might cry, the human face cracks though the Pop Ophelia's ethereal visage. Mind you, for some of us, it always did."

I adore Kate and I'm counting the seconds before that cd is mine!

I'm glad it's getting good reviews so far! I hope this is huge for her!

I really hoped that she would come up with a whole new approach to her own art after all this time. that review does not make me hopeful.

Tommer, have you heard the album or just the single?
The single didn't blow me away ( not like Madonna's will I love Gimmie, Gimmie, Gimmie) anyway but it was very familiar and comfortable.

On my first listen to "King of the Mountain", I was a little disappointed, but the more I listened to it, the more I fell in love with it. Now I FREAKING LOVE IT and can't wait for the new album!

I wasn't too impressed with the single either, but like most of her stuff it takes a few listens...right now it sounds like a throw away of one of Tori Amos' tracks...maybe it'll grow on me...I'll probably still get the cd.

Well I do like it better than anything on The Beekeeper which sounds like an entire album of throw away tracks, and yes it does sink in upon repeated listens .
