Is anybody 100% sure on the reason she left fleetwood mac?? I know she wanted to spend more time with her family, but is their anything else behind her quitting of the band? what are the chances of her coming back to record as a band member?? I think Say You Will would have been much better with her input (as many of you agree :o ). Do you think she will ever re-join, maybe just to record and not tour with them?? Any Thoughts??

I don't have any reason not to believe what she said herself: she was tired of touring. She didn't want to tour anymore. She wanted to live in her home in England and garden and enjoy her life. And she didn't feel that it was right to be part of the "studio" band and record Say You Will, but then abandon them and not tour. She recorded her own solo album since then, but she made the personal decision not to tour.

Maybe I'm naive, but I'll take her word for it. Others may (and likely will) disagree... ?

I'd say there's a less than 5% chance that she'd be talked into touring again. My biggest hope would be for one show, the big 40th anniversary show some of us dream of. Chris was never fond of the road. She's made her fortune. I say(unfortunately for us), let her enjoy it. And I thank her for being such a big part of my life. :xoxo:

The chances of her touring are: none

The chances of her working with them again are: slim

Sad but true.

I think that if they ever made another studio album honour could be satisfied by Lindsey coming over to Kent for a couple of weeks and working with her on one of her songs. she could also do some backing vocals. He could then go back to L.A. and work with the results. In that way there'd only be one of her songs on the album if they decided to tour again. But I don't think it will ever happen.

I agree. She has said she'll never play live again, and I believe her. In all of her interviews last year, she certainly seemed happy with the way things are now. At times, she even sounded a bit disdainful about touring & being on the road. I don't think there will ever be another Fleetwood Mac album of completely new music anyway. The only thing that could happen(and it's a fairly slim chance) is if there is some sort of reissue/compilation & they record a few new tracks as bonus tracks, similar to the new tracks on the Chain box set. I think she'd be open to doing something like that. Bob Welch kind of hinted at that on the message board on his website. It's obvious that she still enjoys writing & recording, but hates everything else connected to the music business. I don't think she wants to spend much time away from her family, dogs & home. Also, she's 62 years old now. It's normal that she would feel this way.

In my opinion, she picked the perfect time to end things with the Dance, which was a huge success. In The Meantime was just a wonderful little bonus. I hope there's more from her in the future, but I'm realistic.

she's got more money than she could ever spend. She's happy with her life as it is and doesn't want to put herself through the rigours of a tour.

We've already had the bonus of In the Meantime I don't think we're going to get another one. I hope I'm wrong.

Geez, Mary Anne, you want to drive me to drink so early in the morning? Not just no new Christine but no new FM, either? For Christ(ine)'s sake! I'm going to go sulk in the corner now.

Sorry about that, Hillary. I'm just being realistic. Everything must come to an end sometime. :sorry:

Just set up the band in Christine's backyard; bring in cameras to record it (broadcasting live as a PPV event), then sell it as a DVD a month or so down the road.

Despite interviews, I believe anything can happen with this band. I never thought LB would re-join. Of course he needed a budget from Warner so he joined Mac twice and rolled his solo stuff into the "organic" process.

I don't believe any of them when they say anything. This is because I've been a fan since 1974.

This whole re-convening was about cash! Welcome EVERYBODY!!!

Not a snowball's chance.
And after hearing her new album, I'm not sure it would do anyone any good for her to return to the band.

I say move forward for a new sound. Leave the same old tired re-hashed songs to the past.

That's the price you pay, for being so young, Hillary. We got to see them back when they were young, and hot. You're getting the geriatric version of the band!   I think they should hang it up after a 40th reunion. JMO.

Well, yes & no. Retire from making new material & touring...so they have no excuses from getting to work on the rest of the catalogue remasters and releasing live stuff that has been collecting dust in the vaults.

I think the only ex-member with less chance than Christine of playing together with John and Mick again is Danny. We're more likely to see Peter, Jeremy or even Bob Welch than we are to see Chris, I think.

Do you guys think that Mick will still attempt to convince her to tour again? Like for a farewell thing?

Yes. Mick will realize that with Christine in tow, it will be an even bigger draw, and therefore, bring in more money.

Sorry. Couldn't resist that one.

I think Christine would probably do a big reunion one-off, a la what Cream did in May. I DON'T see her rejoining Fleetwood Mac altogether, nor do I see her participating in any type of tour.

As for Fleetwood Mac retiring, I don't see them doing that. I think Stevie and Lindsey really want to make more music together, and Mick and John always seem up to the task of being somebody's rhythm section. So, I'm betting we'll get at least one more album by the current incarnation. And, I wouldn't be shocked if we got a new album from Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac (though, I wouldn't be shocked if we don't).

Now, if we're talking pipe dreams, I have two. One is with the reunion gig, if it happens. I'd like to see sets by Peter Green's FM, the MTM band, the "Rumours" band, a bastardized version of the BTM/Time bands (i.e. Mick, John, Christine, Billy, Bekka, & Rick), and an all-inclusive jam at the end. I'd like to see this result in a CD set that has the full live reunion show and a studio CD with new material from each singer/songwriter.

In my second pipe-dream, I'd like to see a situation where Bob Welch comes back into the fold full-time. I don't know if that's what he wants, or what they want, but it would be something I'd find interesting. I think having a second guitarist with actual creative input (at least beyond that of a hired gun) could be the type of creative challenge that would be very rewarding for Lindsey.

Never say never, Christine was backstage at the last London Fleetwood Mac show(and still smoking). She had her ear piece in her ear and was ready to go, but decided not to play towards the end.

She's pretty much sticks around her house most of the time and will barely leave from what I have been told.

Nothing would surprise me, she almost performed that night.

I think the concert idea is much more likely than getting all of those people in a studio together for an extended period of time, but oy, an "all-inclusive jam?" Seems like could get incredibly sloppy, especially with, what, seven or eight guitars in the mix? And what would Stevie and Bekka do?

Personally, if a concert like this were to happen, I'd want to see not only performances by each different era of Fleetwood Mac, but also some mix-and-matching. Lindsey doing some guitar dueling with Bob Weston, or Peter Green playing with Rick Vito, or Stevie singing along with Bob Welch.

In my second pipe-dream, I'd like to see a situation where Bob Welch comes back into the fold full-time. I don't know if that's what he wants, or what they want, but it would be something I'd find interesting. Would Welch and Lindsey really mesh, though? They seem to have such very different aesthetics, I can't imagine them co-existing on a single album.

Where did you hear this? I understood that she had been asked and that rehersal days had been booked but she said no. She said she watched the show from the mixing desk which was heavily protected, right in the middle of the auditorium where all the friends and family were seated

This makes her sound like some sort of recluse. I thought she spent most of her time in Kent but a day or so a week at her flat in London.

I don't see Christine rejoining the band full time. :distress: I think that she is at the age where she wants to have a little down time (semi-retirement), still make music but on her terms, and not have to do lengthy touring. I base this on the things that she has said (in the time since she left the band)in interviews that she has done. However, I do see her considering doing a (not extremely long) 40th anniversary tour or at least one big 40th anniversary show. She cares deeply about the band, and she would realize that it would be important for her to particiate.

Where in the world did you hear this? The smoking part doesn't surprise me, but I heard the same thing that Gail posted. In one of her interviews last year, she said that it had just been too long since she performed & that she wasn't comfortable doing it.

As for being a recluse, it sounds like she does spend quite a bit of time at home but she mentioned that she gets into London on a regular basis.

That wouldn't surprise me that Mick would try, but from what I remember, Christine considered The Dance to be *her* farewell thing and that's how they talked her into doing that. I just don't see her performing live again for any reason.

Christine I will say honorably, she bowed out gracefully instead of overstaying with something that could end up being run into the ground.
